I am brand new to this forum, but not weight watchers. I have done it about 7 years ago so I am somewhat familiar with the program although I know it has changed alot. I would like to know if someone can give me the point range for someone in the 230lb range and some motivation/advice/inspiration. I am at my wits end with my body and dont know where to begin, I feel like a lost cause. please helpppp.
Welcome! Let me first start out by saying no one is a lost cause. I'm new to WW (2nd week), and there are times I thought I can't do this, but I came to the forum and sought out help. The people here are wonderful and you are bound to get the motivation, advice, and inspiration to help you on your journey. I'm not sure about points, it varies based on height, activity level, and a few other things. Good luck!
In the last 7 years the program has changed quite a bit. Since then, the way points are calculated has changed. It is no longer based on only a starting weight but also height, gender, activity level (like what kind of job you do - sedentary, active, etc.), and age. If you give us a little more info someone should be able to look it up for you.
As far as any other helpful information on the program, you will find a lot here at 3FC, especially in the main part of the WW section. A lot of the basics are covered there. Plus we have a great collection of recipes for you to explore!
You will also be able to get a ton of support and inspiration from the folks all over 3FC. We have a great, friendly crew of people here who are always willing to help - all you have to do is ask! No one is a lost cause
There are always times when you'll just want to give up! But you can jump right back on, everyone has those times. This is a journey, with many ups and downs!! I'm not sure if you can put links in here to things weight watchers related cause of some copyrights but if you google "weight watchers daily points quiz" the quiz to take to find your daily points range when i did that showed up in the second link. that will help you with figuring out your points! good luck!
im 23y/o and i am 4"11, i havent weighed myself in a while because im afraid of the scale....haha. im probably around 220/230. my job requries me to be out and about, working out of my car, which also means eating crap food on the go. ugh... i HATE working out, especially with other people. when i do work out, i enjoy walking, rollerblading, or going on the treadmill, but i get bored very easily, i start and i want it to end right away.
I recently looked at my co-workers starter kit that she just got and figured out my points from her info. I have the info from 7-8 years ago and my points from then to what she had now ended up being 2 pts difference. Her info had me at 26 points and my info had me at 24.
If you have the info from 7 years ago, it should work for you - it has worked fine for me. The only difference in calculating points is the 4g cap on fiber.
You do need to know how much you weigh though to know what points you need to start at.

This is mental, i just did one of the quizzes to get my points, just out of curiosity, and by the non-european system im allowed 4 more points than here in ireland! i wonder why that is...
thanks guys... i think im gonna go to WW meeting and get all the proper info i need to start this, because i cant find my information from when i did the program 7 years ago. i know if i go to a meeting i wont feel as overwhelmed on where to start and know exactly my points and everything. right now i just feel all over the place. thanks alot for the website on how to calculate, that helped alot! if anyone has an inspiration for me, i could really use it. this was a bad weekend for me as food goes and i dont see the light at the end any time soon.
I think that is a great idea. Even if you only go to one meeting you should get most of the information you need to do the plan. Of course, I'm a meeting advocate and think it'd be great if you continue with them buuuut... that's me
As for inspiration/motivation, this is a popular strategy - can you make a list of reasons why you want to lose weight? Then go over it whenever you're feeling like it's not worth it, when you're feeling low, and hopefully that should help shift your mindset. Things like:
-I want to be able to walk up a flight of stairs without getting out of breath.
-I want to be able to play with my grandchildren.
-I do not want to die of heart disease at an early age.
-I want to feel sexy and confident.
Things like those. Then if you're really into empowerment and building up a positive outlook, change all those "want"s to "DESERVE"s... It can make a big difference. Good luck.
Jamie's advice is stellar! Make a list for you. Check out the thread 'what are you looking forward to' also. Sometimes when I am down, I go to that thread and re-read what people have posted. It lifts me up and allows me to realize that I am not alone in this and that there are really cool people here who are struggling with the same stuff I am and that everyone is sooooo supportive when I need help!
