sorry just a quick vent, lots of LONG posts i can't read right now, so no replies.

but here - i'm driving around the other day running errands and i'm DYING of thirst. being short on cash i stopped at cumberland farms (local gas station/mini mart) for their 79 cent ANY size fountain drinks. i've been trying to cut back on soda (which i only drink diet ever anyways) but it was cheap and i was poor so i got a HUMONGOUS diet pepsi. (32 oz to be exact) i start drinking it and it tastes kinda off .. but i chalk it up to the fact that it was cheap, fountain, and i haven't had soda in a while. i drink it throughout my time driving around and stop home then get back in the car and i start noticing my teeth feeling grimey... i think 'weird... my teeth feel super grimey (like that just ate a pound of candy feel) for not having any sugar today...' shrug.. move on.. take another sip. then bam. guess what i realized when i had about an ounce left of that soda?! IT'S NOT DIET! IT'S REGULAR!! someone not caring or thinking must have put the regular soda into the diet soda compartment/fountain. SO I JUST DRANK 400 CALORIES WORTH OF SODA!! THAT I DIDN'T EVEN ENJOY!!! ahhhhhhhh!! i could have had two handfuls of m&m's, or a burrito, or a big bowl of pasta if i really just wanted to THROW AWAY 400 calories. needless to say i was PEEVED and i thought i would just vent it here to some people who could appreciate the annoyance of this occurance. haha

thanks for listening.

Fairie - your business trips sounds wonderful. You did so well only gaining what you did! Granted, you were initially wanting to continue to lose, but 5.8 lbs isn't as terrible as you thought it may be?? It sure isn't in my book.

LeeAnne - I would love to lose a cup size or two or three. I am very very well endowed. I have to find an F cup and the only place I can do that is if I order from catalogs. I would LOVE to be a C or a D. What makes it difficult is that it is hard to find a 38F. (not a typo F) :( It is also difficult to golf or shoot a bow & arrow. LOL LOL LOL

Jamie - the delay in authorization would make me a little nervous too, but I am sure you have nothing to worry about. Maybe give them a call to see what the holdup is? I am not a patient person when it comes to waiting and sometimes I can make a nuisance of myself.. lol

Tarah - been there done that. I always have a taste tester with me though, very seldom do I get fountain drinks although I like those better than the canned or bottled soda. More carbonated water I think. I think it is kinda neat though how much more we are all aware of those 'empty calories' since being on WW's. Before I wouldn't have blinked an eye, but now.. hmmmmmm 400 calories is a lot of nothing with soda.

Good Day Everyone!
Here I am... trying to get back into the swing of things ^_^

LeeAnne - Little more about India: They speak Tamil where I went (one of the many Indian languages) and I learned just a couple of things. Nandri = Thank you. Mali Vanakkum = Good Evening. Cali Vanakkum = Good Morning. Vanakkum = Hello. (Basically) But of course, they say these greetings with both their hands together (prayer-like as westerners may see it) over their heart.

I did experience some paparazzi-like people. There was one time, though, when we were in Kodaikanal, we stopped off at this beautiful waterfall (which was most unfortunately littered with trash... *sigh* as usual... *more sighs*) when a small group of guys asked some of my co-workers for pictures. They refused, kindly. But, the guys snuck behind them and tried to get pictures with them anyway. That was a little rude. At the same place, some other people were video taping us. (Without asking.) That stop was one of the least pleasant on the trip. ... Anyway!

Saw most of the women and girls wearing skirts & saris riding sidesaddle on the scooters. I don't know how they did it. Some barely holding on at all!

I don't know about no middle class. I believe there's a growing one. (Especially with outsourcing being an expanding industry.) I worked with a lot of people who would probably be considered more middle-class. But, you can definitely tell who has & who has not. It was a city, so my perceptions may be off, but it seemed to me as though there were more poor people there in Chennai than there are here.

I must admit, I'm not very good at bargaining. But, if I go any other place, at least I've tried my hand at it.

HA ha ha ha! The sh$ts. Okay, here's the deal (and I knew I forgot something). Long story short, I did get sick in India, but I don't believe it was due to food or water, but rather that I caught something. (It was only for 3 days but involved fever, amongst other bathroom unpleasantries.) However, that being said, I certainly didn't feel "right" some days. Things didn't move as they do when I'm home. Was it from the food? Was it accidental water consumption? (I only used bottled water... ever... even for brushing my teeth.) Was it that I wasn't home and everything was different so of course my body was going to react differently? I just can't say.

... OH you know what else I forgot to mention? Finally... NO, a red dot between a woman's eyebrows doesn't mean she's married. In fact, a dot or design there means absolutely nothing. Nothing! It's decoration. It's make-up. As we may put on eyeliner.

A white, red or gold smudge there (and on men, too) means... something... that relates to being of the Hindu religion, but unfortunately, I wasn't able to find out before leaving.

So... how does one tell if a Hindu woman is married? A smudge of red pigment at her hairline. And they wear a marriage necklace. I can see how the stereotypes got confused. (Diagram below.)

How can you tell if a Hindu man is married? Ha! You can't. Since men aren't approached for marriage, it's not necessary to know.

Lovely 08-19-2008 08:07 AM

Tarah - Ahhh That SUCKS! Here you are trying to do the right thing. Trying to make better choices, and someone else's mistake (or indifference) causes you trouble. It's okay! One pepsi will not ruin all your hard work no matter how frustrating!

Chey - Certainly 5.8 lbs is not as bad as it could have been. Oh goodness... I can just imagine. I could easily have gained 20 pounds in that amount of time if I really didn't care! (How sad!) I'm just happy to be back and seeing everyone else's progress. :D It gets me excited :hyper: & keeps me going :twirly:

When I was backpacking around Malaysia, I wandered into a Hindu temple to look around and be off the streets for awhile. I was sitting there, minding my own business, but it was clear that I stood out as a single white woman in the temple as much as I did in the streets. After awhile, I made eye contact with a man who took me under his wing and invited me quietly to join him for the noon pooja (prayer service/worship). I joined and, when it was all said and done, I'd cried twice and had a new red smudge on my forehead. I didn't cry because I was sad, I cried because I was overwhelmed.

The smudge you were wondering about is called tilaka and some wear it on a daily basis to show their worship. It's a mixture of sandalwood paste, sindhoor, clay and ashes. The ashes come from the incense that is burned during the pooja. Some Hindu people wash off the tilaka as soon as they leave; some get the mark on the bottom of their foot so it's less visible. It's just a cultural thing.

I seriously love reading about your trip. :) If there's anything else you want to share, feel free!

36Paws 08-19-2008 09:51 AM

I am new to the site.....

I am finding that my stress level is incredibly high which is probably why I started ww on sunday morning..... I find that I have some control issues (I am a doctoral student and we all have control issues) so when I am feeling stressed watching what I eat becomes a bit all encompassing which gets me thinking about something other than Durkheim and Marx.....

So here I be. I planned on starting walking today but its pouring out absolutely pouring and my dogs don't seem to interested in being outside with me.

At this moment however, I started this weight challenge on the spur of the moment and at this time I have none of the staples in my house. I have no vegetables to speak of (nothing I will eat) I have no shrimp, I have no things for lunches and no fruit but whats good is I have lots of coffee and fat free creamer.

I got on the scale yesterday (after buying batteries for the darned thing) I hadn't gained I am where I left off last from last time so that is positive.....

i am a bit concerned about lunches and quick breakfasts that I can eat on the go.... once the semester starts.... I got myself sucked into teaching an 8am class..... the university is about an hour from home..... I am not a morning person and have a pile of dogs to take care of.... Plus if I eat to early in the morning I feel sick....

so I need to figure out breakfasts that I can eat at around 9:30 during my office hours.... that is easy to grab and take with me.... that is not mcdonalds (I love mcdonalds breakfast) and doesn't require refrigeration....

oh and the same for lunch.... I had been bringing soup in a cup things.... like the campbells ones.... but it does get pretty old pretty fast.....

so thats my contribution today.....
I am really glad you all are here

suitejudyblueeyes 08-19-2008 09:53 AM

Cournie - I hear Mindless Eating is a helpful read. Let us know how to find it. Have fun in Vegas!!

Faerie - Wow, what a trip! I can't even imagine what an experience that must have been for you. I agree with LeeAnne, if you have anything else you want to share I would love to read more about it. I imagine the celebrity of your skin would get kind of uncomfortable after a while. That is interesting about the way young men interact over there - I remember seeing similar behavior when I was in Italy, it was so interesting to note how unafraid they seemed to be of touching each other. It was actually kind of nice, it seemed more genuine than the awkward arms-length relationships between males here in the US.

LeeAnne - Glad you had fun with your busy weekend! Wolf Trap is a gorgeous venue, and I hear NIN concerts are usually awesome. Glad to hear your Tex Mex was so fulfilling :D Sometimes it's just worth it.

And you and Faerie, learning how to haggle! I don't think I am up for that task. :p

Tarah - That's pretty lame. I always have DH test my fountain sodas if I get them, to make sure they are diet. I don't need all that sugar.

Chey - Well, they finally called yesterday afternoon. So they are at least in the process of checking up on us. They are being crazy thorough - my address from when I lived with my father was on my credit report, and they wanted to call him to verify - verify what? That I was a good tenant? I'm his daughter! :p I've never been checked up on to this extent so it's a little unnerving.

Not much to report on here - just wanted to pop in and say hi.

suitejudyblueeyes 08-19-2008 09:56 AM

:welcome: 36paws!

I'd suggest taking a look at our menus threads for some great meal ideas. I think there have been some quick breakfast idea threads too. My favorite on-the-go, no-refrigeration-needed breakfast is a 1 point wrap spread with some PB and a banana rolled up inside. It's very filling and easy to grab and go!

First things first, definitely go grocery shopping. You must set yourself up for success, or this is going to be unnecessarily difficult! Stock your fridge and pantry with healthy foods that you love, and there won't even be a second thought about that McD's breakfast. :)

Lovely 08-19-2008 11:23 AM

Paws - :welcome: to the group! :D What good news that you were able to maintain! I agree with Suite. Shopping. Now! Get those vegetables and fruits on hand. Sandwiches are another thing that don't need too much refrigeration. Just a lunchbox with insulation will do ya. And don't forget a thermos for water during the day! :)

LeeAnne - Thank you for sharing that! And now I know.
While I visited a few temples and enjoyed them from the exterior, I never ventured inside. (When I return to the Taj, I believe I'll make some time to do that, but being in India for the first time, and being that temples are religious, I most certainly didn't want to do anything improper that may offend.)

Suite - Just glanced about and realized you're moving! I hope all goes as smoothly as moving can go :)

suitejudyblueeyes 08-19-2008 02:53 PM

So I didn't have anything to say this morning, but I do now :)

I was thinking about our new place, and what a hassle it is to move, and how stressful it can be, and how expensive, and yadda yadda yadda. Been bothering me since we signed the lease last week.

Well you know what? I'm actually very excited to move. It's bigger, it's nicer, it will have WAY more sunlight than our current basement apartment. There is a dishwasher, a pool, and a gym. It will cut about 10 minutes off my walk when I choose to walk home or to work. We will no longer have anyone living directly above us!

By some wonderful coincidence, the bus routes are changing the weekend we move, and my favorite bus driver has been moved to the route I will now be taking to work. This is strange as a perk but he always brightens up my morning a bit, just one of those really genuine people who are hard to find.

We will be within walking distance to a great local non-profit bakery and a local whole foods kind of store with a giant wall of bulk bins for grains and legumes and organic snackies and all that. (This is *very* exciting!) Also around the corner are a great little coffee shop and the SPCA rummage store, for great Sunday morning meandering.

It just occurred to me that I should be thrilled about the change :) Here I've been stressy and moping about the hassle of it all, when really, it is SO worth it. Talk about increase in quality of life!

So that's it. Not all that interesting for you guys but it makes me happy!

sotypical 08-19-2008 03:03 PM

Jamie the new place sounds simply amazing! I don't think it would get any better!!

Lovely 08-19-2008 03:45 PM

Suite - Your move sounds exciting :) I'm so happy for you & your hubby! :carrot: And the busdriver moving to your route? FATE!

Good & Happy Wednesday Morning, Flexers! :twirly:

Well, I'm rather proud of myself. I made it through the whole week. I wrote everything down. Everything! Even the things that I probably shouldn't ever eat. (Like 10 points worth of merengues... who does that?? Me, that's who.) I even walked during my breaks.

I'm not going to pretend I'm not curious about my weigh-in tonight, but it's not looming over my head.

So, on the personal life/wedding front. The fiancee and I have found an apartment, and we'll be moving things in all throughout September while he rents his apartment and the new one. He'll be there in October for 2 weeks before I officially move in. The greatest part is that it's only a few streets down from where he lives now.

I made an appointment to have alterations made on my wedding dress on the 30th. I still need flowers, and a hair appointment.

We got a photographer, a justice of the peace, and a cake. The cake we got will be assuredly cute. It's a small two layered cake, the bottom part is set up like a green hill, the top is set up like a castle tower. So it'll look like a castle on a hill. We're searching for the right knight & princess topper for it. ;)

Plenty of other things to do to keep us busy for many weekends.

Oh, and my end of work countdown is now 42 days. *glee* I cannot wait to quit. :hyper: The only problem? I'm getting restless. And I can't bring myself to care about things that need to be cared about for one more month.

Ah well... speaking of the devil, better get these reports audited.

Hope you all have fantastic days :grouphug:

PS - This is kinda strange, being that Halloween is like 2 months away, but I already figured out what my Halloween treat will be. S'mores. I haven't had s'mores in forever. I will be enjoying a few come October :D

sunshower 08-20-2008 08:38 AM

Hey all. Jaime, the new place sounds great. Faerie, good news about the wedding plans.

I don't have much to say today. One of the members of my favourite band passed on yesterday. Music and travel are the two biggest passions in my life so it's not hard to understand why I'm taking it a little harder than some other folks would. I feel a little emotional today, plus it's TOM so I'm likely to be a little crazy anyway.

For anyone wondering, it was LeRoi Moore of the Dave Matthews Band. He was the saxophone player. He had an ATV accident towards the end of June and, due to a number of complications, he passed away yesterday. He was 46.

:(

suitejudyblueeyes 08-20-2008 09:07 AM

Faerie - Your cake sounds wonderful! I love cakes that look like things :D You have so many exciting things coming up!!

LeeAnne - Oh, that's so sad about Mr. Moore. You know, on my way into work *every* station was playing DMB, and I thought it was just a coincidence. I guess not. :( The town is going to take it hard, I'm sure, seeing as how they're pretty much the best thing to come out of Charlottesville since Thomas Jefferson...

Tonight I'm going to a meeting of people I found on meetup.com. We're going to play Settlers of Catan :D Playing 2 player games with DH is fun, but I really want to a) meet people not attached to the university here (all of my old Cville friends moved away after finishing their MAs) and b) play more board games! So on meetup there was a group called Cville Boardgamers who meet once a month. This will be the first meeting for us. I'm pretty excited! We're meeting at a coffee shop so I will have to save back a few points for a drink while we are there.

That's about it, hope everyone has a good day!

Lovely 08-20-2008 09:39 AM

LeeAnne - Ah man. That sucks. So young to pass away. :/

Suite - Oh so exciting to meet new people! Something I definitely have to do when I head up to MA. I don't want to be dependent upon the soon to be husband for all of my companionship needs.

sotypical 08-20-2008 04:49 PM

LeeAnne - I am sorry. That sucks. Always makes me sad when I read stuff like that. Like that Vancouver Canuck player that was killed a couple months ago - this was supposed to be his year too :(

So this morning I went and had my blood work done. They are testing my Thyroid, Iron and for Diabetes - If I dont get a phone call then I am all good! haha

My eating has been SLIGHTLY slack, just a bit. I will end up going over points for today... but Vacation starts in about 24 hours! yay! I don't plan on counting points... just try and eat superfoods when I can. IE salmon burger versus beef burger, salad versus fries... I probably wont save a lot of calories but at least they will be superfoods! haha

I am sitting here wanting a frap so bad! I think I might have to to finish up a few things and go get one! LOL *smacks head*

Lovely 08-21-2008 07:06 AM

Morning, Flexers :D

Courtnie - Best of luck with all the blood work! :crossed: May your vacation be splendid! :beach: Have a ton of fun while in Vegas, and seeing that concert :D

---

So here I am. Almost back to routine. The last thing to do is get back to my regular treadmilling. I was able to shed 5 pounds since last week. A lot of that was most likely water retention and whatnot from having traveled, and eaten a bunch of things I'd like to have... well that I'd like to have not eaten.

I'll continue on the same until this weekend, when I'll be taking a few walks with the fiancee. I can grab my workout gear (which I left at his apartment) and start my treadmilling up again on Monday. (I miss watching Charmed re-runs anyways ;))

I'm listening to music online and a few Celtic-y ballads keep coming up. And everytime one does, all I want to be is outdoors in the woods... makes me feel... content.

May everyone have a blissful day!

:grouphug:

suitejudyblueeyes 08-21-2008 08:50 AM

G'mornin!

Courtnie - Fingers crossed for no phone call! And hurray for vacation! I'm sure you'll do great, and even if you come back with a small gain, 1) it will have been worth it, right? and 2) it'll come back off in no time. Enjoy your vacation!!

Faerie - Exercise is always the last to fall into place. I think making sure your eating is cleaned up is more effective at the beginning of getting back on track anyhow. Have fun on your walks, I hope you have a nice woodsy area nearby to go be happy in :)

Well, my gaming group meeting last night was actually really fun. This group has a history of not showing up for its meetings, so I took along DH and brought a game that we could play 2 player if no one else showed. Well, three other people came out, all of us first timers to the group - and I sure was glad I brought my game, as no one else brought anything - the organizer himself didn't even show up!! (which is pretty stupid, why organize a group if you are not going to show?) We played for a couple hours and chatted for a little while over the best soy latte I've had to date. We've arranged to meet again next week even if there isn't an official meetup, which is exciting! :D

Anyhow... not a whole lot else going on... It occurred to me that if I lose 2 lbs this week and 2 lbs the next I will hit 30lbs lost on my 25th birthday - which would be awesome - but I don't think it'll happen. Nice to dream though, right? :p TOM's got me maintaining my weight from last week so far and we're about to move which generally means take-out and little intentional exercise... ah well :D At least I hit 25 lbs before I turned 25! :p

shrinkinglizzy 08-21-2008 08:52 AM

i'm back, but i left 6 lbs in summer camp!

hey everyone!! i'm back!! I've missed you guys...it's been a wonderful summer, out in the woods, constantly active...but it's nice to be home, too.

so, not too surprisingly, i've shed weight while at camp. it felt miraculous -- the truth was, I could honestly eat whatever I wanted and I still lost. This is partially because the things I wanted were healthier, and partially because I was active at all times. There were no couches. There was no TV. I became the cook partway through the summer, and that kept me moving all day. And, with the planned meal times, it was so easy to stay on track...despite the fact that every item of food was at my fingertips at all times, I was busy busy busy, prepping food, cooking food, serving food, and cleaning up food, sometimes I didn't even have the time to eat.
Anyhoo, I am really going to have to work to maintain my loss now that I'm home. On the plus side, it's not a crazy amounts -- I have lost about 5.5 lbs in the past two months, bringing me to 130 this morning. It was a slow loss, and I think I built a lot of muscle (I'll have to take my measurements today) that feels easier to keep up. I plan to walk A LOT, and really just cook for myself a lot of veggies. I would love it if I don't have to measure everything, don't have to keep records, as that's how it was over the summer. But, we shall see, we shall see...
I haven't had a chance to read up on everyone, but I do see that Faerie is back from india!! I"ll have to read all about it. I need to get a move on my day, lots to do!!
Love love
s

Lovely 08-21-2008 09:09 AM

Lizzy! So good to see you posting again  I'm glad things went so well while you were at camp. And congrats on the weight loss :D

Suite - Yay! Yay for fun gaming meet-ups. And smart thinking in bringing that game. I can't believe the organizer wouldn't even show... Oh well! Maybe you're destined to be the new organizer ;) What game was it that your brought, anyways? :)

Lovely 08-22-2008 07:24 AM

Friday!!!!!

Good & Happy Morning Flexers!

Woot! The weekend, and coming towards the end of August :) Lovely!

My friend and I are thinking of having a little book exchange/club with eachother. He lent me Zombie Survival Guide & World War Z a book about the Zombie War on Earth. So, I'm not sure what you're thinking right now. Either I really like horror, or this is some sort of joke. Yes, and... sort of. They're incredible books. First of all, they're fictional books that base their information in a world where zombies actually do exist in our reality. How would we handle their invasion? The Survival Guide is just that. Zombies attack, what do you do now? The World War Z is written from the perspective of a post-war journalist documenting the stories of people around the world. While the thought of zombies invading is humorous, and the Survival Guide is a little more tongue-in-cheek, the stories from World War Z are raw, powerful, and they paint the story of world-wide panic very convincingly. Either way! It's not for everyone, but it was right up my alley. So. With that, we decided we should exchange more books. I think the first one I'm going to throw his way is The Dark Tower series by Stephen King.

I'll be driving up to MA this weekend. We'll be having dinner with his father, and I'll be able to finally give him the vase I got him from India. We're planning a couple of light walks. So I'll be able to up my exercise (yay!).

I hope you all have a fabulous day! :D

suitejudyblueeyes 08-22-2008 09:20 AM

Sonja - I am very happy to see you back, girl! Glad to hear you had a great time at camp. And hurray for unintentional weight loss, that's the best kind :D

Faerie - I brought San Juan, which people generally aren't familiar with. Its bigger brother, Puerto Rico, tends to be more widely known (though I think SJ is far better). It's a Rio Grande game, they also do St. Petersburg and Carcassonne... If you haven't heard of any of those, I give up :D We are going to play Castle Risk next time, which is a Risk variant I've never tried...

I've heard of those zombie books, but haven't read them. Let me know how you enjoy them, I might have to pick them up! I've also never gotten into the Dark Tower series though I tried, once, when I was 10 or 12. I went on this rather long kick once I graduated of reading as much silly, mindless literature as I could, and it was fun, but now I am going back and exploring other novels by authors I encountered in school.

Anyway, I am rambling :p

Woke up with a headache this morning for no identifiable reason... Had to show the apartment to a bunch of people yesterday who were expecting to find a 2 bedroom apt when in fact it is only a 1 bedroom (the landlord had listed it wrong)... Have to re-do a project I finished yesterday because my editor decided not to tell me what he actually wanted from me until I had finished it... Moving this weekend! Too much life happening! :p

 Hope everyone enjoys their Fridays.

Lovely 08-22-2008 11:51 AM

Suite - My brother is a little more of a board game person than I am, I'll ask him if he's heard of those. Castle Risk... now that sounds cool! I just finished the Zombie books. I loved them. Well written. If you ever feel like taking a break from reading all those "real" books ;) I do recommend them.

Hope that headache clears up. And I hope your moving goes as smooth as is possible! At least it's an excuse to work up a little bit of a sweat, right?

Hello all! I'm going to jump right in and start chatting as well.

I start school again on Monday, and the geek that I am can't wait! I love my major (Criminology) so much that I can not wait until I get to go into the field full time. I've also been looking into grad schools and law schools. I had a phone interview with Boston University yesterday and I think it went well. I have the qualifications for it I just need to get two really strong letters of recommendation, which hopefully I can get! My boss (who's a lawyer) is trying to get me an intership at the CP3, which is the prosecutors office in MD. I hope that I get it because I want to gain field work.

Other then that not too much has been happening. Typical job stress when you what a child with a duel diagnosis, at some point I wonder if it's because he can't help it or if he really is a pain in the behind.

I hope everyone has a good weekend!!!

Lovely 08-22-2008 01:21 PM

Heya Meagan :D I hope the start of school is fantastic. Criminology is so interesting. Best of luck with Boston University! :)

Hello ladies! Sorry I've been MIA. I just honestly wasn't focusing on my weight at all. In fact, I was maintaining VERY well, without even having to journal.

Also... I found out today... I'm pregnant! I found out REALLY early. Because of my medication, I needed to get the blood test (way before I missed a period) in order to go off it ASAP. Actually I was tested Tuesday and the result was "borderline" so I acted as if it was positive and went right off my meds. Went and got tested again yesterday and this morning got the positive result. I'm very excited!!!!

Lovely 08-22-2008 01:55 PM

:celebrate:

:bb: Congratulations Mod!!!! So exciting!

I hope you'll keep us updated ^_^

modkittn 08-22-2008 02:06 PM

Thanks Faerie! I will keep you updated. Actually, I've been thinking I need to start paying more attention to what I'm eating to make sure I get enough veggies, calcium, etc. I may start journaling again just to be able to do that. I'm planning on taking lots of belly pics too so I will have to post those as they come along! :preg:

Hi Ladies:)

It been a long time since I posted on this board,Hows every one doing on the flex???? I'm still on the Core Plan, and even if my weights going down slowly I feel its the right plan for me.

Have a question for you, does anyone know the point value of fair foods such as sugar waffles ???

I can't find it on the WW site and those one of you gal must know the answer.

Hugs :)

Congrats Mod! That's great news!

Thanks Faerie! I'm not sure if I want to go to BU, but it is on my list of tops schools...it also doesn't hurt that next year I'm moving to Massachusetts.

Magz 08-23-2008 09:51 AM

Mod, CONGRATULATIONS! How incredibly exciting!

I'm a slacker. I'm reading, just not posting. The Olympics are keeping me busy lol. Work, gym, Olympics. That seems to be my life these days. I haven't even been reading! For me that is major ;).

Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

We call them funnel cakes... according to WW web site on the visitors section with their "danger zone" food list, they are 12 points! YIKES! But, man - they sure are good! I googled funnel cake WW points and was give that as the number one hit.. :)

Congrats Mod! :) Very awesome news!

Megan.. so you will be starting full time? Will you still be a nanny or was that just for the summer? You are doing so well.. :)

Good morning all,
Glad to see i'm not the only one neglecting the boards. Funny thing is that I've lost the last few pounds without thinking about it, and now i'm afraid to start thinking about it. However, considering the changes in my lifestyle, I certainly can't expect the rest of the weight to just melt off (gained 2 lbs already since I've been home!). I guess it's time to make weight loss a focus!

I'm considering starting to attend meetings, but not sure yet. And luckily, I'm moving in with a girl who is doing WW and has lost 20 lbs! So, that should be a good support.

Anyway, I'm off to go babysit for the day.

Mod -- CONGRATS!! That is so wonderful!!

Meagan -- Good luck with whatever you do with your career!!

Beach -- yum, funnel cakes...

Faerie and Suite -- hi!! I don't really know what your gaming conversation is all about, so I won't try to join in on that. Just saying WASSSSSUUUUP!!

modkittn 08-25-2008 08:30 AM

Thanks everyone! I'm in my 5th week now, so I'm really early in this :) No food aversions or cravings. I'm trying really hard to follow the diet that is recommended for pregnant women but I have no clue how I'm supposed to do that and ONLY eat 300 extra calories per day. I'm going to post that question in the Pregnant/Nursing forum.

Magz - I was busy with the Olympics too! I used to take gymnastics when I was younger (for about 13 years) so I was really into that. I also watched the rhythmic gymnastics, diving, synch. swimming, and a little of the swimming.

lizzy - I maintained for a few months without even journaling. After you are following your new lifestyle for so long, it becomes so routine that you can't help it!

Faerie - Have you read The Dark Tower series? Its high up on my list of things I want to read!

xMeaganx 08-25-2008 08:48 AM

Chey--Yes I will be going full time (19 credit hrs-eek!) and still be working as a nanny. I work 12 hours a day so needless to say I will have no free time between the two! I'm taking my courses online this year so it makes it easier to do but the work is twice as hard! Luckily only one more year.

I have to agree with the you all that funnel cakes are sooo good! When I lived in Italy the kids grandmother made them from scratch, weekly. We always had this huge bowl of funnel cake to eat...I'm so glad I'm not there now or my WW would be out the window.

shrinkinglizzy-thanks! I would def say to go to the meetings! My meetings are full of people not in my age group and yet they still motivate me and are so helpful. I look forward to my meetings because I learn so much there. Maybe you should give it a try? If you don't like it don't go back!

suitejudyblueeyes 08-25-2008 09:11 AM

Meagan - Criminology sounds really interesting! So you will be working with lawyers? I think of criminology when I think of detectives, Sherlock Holmes sort of stuff. :p Sounds intriguing! Where did you live when you were in Italy? I stayed in Florence for a month... A month was NOT enough!

Mod! That's awesome news! Congratulations!! So does this mean your disney trip is off? ;)

BB - Great to see you again, glad you are still having success on Core. I hope you found the answer to your question!

Magz - So, what are you reading now that the Olympics are over? :)

Sonja - Meeeeeetings! I love meetings. I recommend meetings. Go to meetings. :p That's awesome about your new roommate - surely a healthier living environment than the previous one, no?

Okay, so apparently I spent the weekend on a stair climber. And when I got off to take breaks I would do weighted squats. And because that wasn't enough, I decided to bench press my weight. My other theory is that I spent the weekend in a Road Runner cartoon, of course as the coyote who gets crushed by the anvil, flung into cliff walls, blown up by packages of ACME dynamite.

Point being, I am sore. I slept for 11 hours last night - it was the best I could do to finish moving, have dinner, and fall into bed. And this morning I wake up with an awful sore throat, the kind that is usually a precursor to a cold. Blaaaargh!

But, good news is we are totally moved in to our new place, which is awesome. We have no regrets and are already loving the space and the hardwood floors and the HUGE windows. The cats are not loving it so much. They are freaked out and pissed off at us. They don't take to change very well, something about being abandoned and mistreated and kept at the shelter in a small cage for six months. They'll come around, but for now they are camping out under a sofa chair. We know they're alive, though, since suddenly this morning the food was gone and the litter had been disturbed.

But now, work. I have to get at least two projects done this week, the boss is putting the pressure on us this week since we've had two slow weeks and next week is shortened. I'll have to see what I can do.

Later taters.

Man a funnel cake sounds good! I think it would be worth splurging just once. Yummers!

SL, good luck with the meetings if you decide to go! I really miss going!

Mod, I think those diets are overrated ;). Just my opinion of course. I pretty much ate like I normally would. I wasn’t doing WW then though. A few friends have just added the points for the nursing moms then added another serving of dairy. I think one of them asked her ob how many calories she should add then converted that to points.

Jaime, I’m reading Head to Head by Linda Ladd. It’s set in a town about 45 minutes from me so that’s pretty cool.

Yay for being totally moved! What a chore. Your kitties will come around. Or they won’t ;). Cats are crazy creatures.

I stayed within points yesterday! It helped that I earned 8 activity points, but whatever LOL. I only used 3 of them so that’s fine. I usually try not to eat them because it’s so hard to figure out exactly how many I earned. I have 11 left for today with tacos for dinner. I shouldn’t have any problems staying OP today also!!

Hello everyone. Flexie here!! I'm new to 3FCs and I am loving it already. I normally go to Sparkpeople and also The WW.com boards but the WW.com boards can get pretty crabby. I am so happy I found this sight again. :)
