Question?! :)

Well I'm almost embarassed to ask this, but I guess this would be the best place to get an honest answer...

I signed up for WW on Tuesday night. I pretty much understand the general idea of what's going on. I guess to sum it up, if you eat your allowed points per day withougt going over you should lose 1-2 lbs per week.

Well i've been surfing around and noticed that some people on WW count calories along with points???????? I was under the impression that if you ate your daily points then you were staying within your calorie limit?????

Can someone please explain this to me! I feel so silly but I'd really like to know :o

P.S i have 24 pts per day

I'm doing WW flex and all i do is count points, I def DONT count calories too, and it's been working. You dont need to count calories too IMO, WW did all that calculating for you! Just make sure you measure any portions you need to, i.e. 1/2 cup rice is worth a certain number of points, so be sure you measure out that 1/2 cup. Good luck!!

Thanks so much DCchick!!

That's what I thought but I just wanted to make sure! I've been doing so well with WW and finding out I had to count calories too would completely burst my bubble!!!!! :(

My mom figured it out once -- a point is approximately 50 calories -- but I do flex and wouldn't dream of counting calories -- too much work -- I have all my boxes marked with their points per serving value and that's it!! :)

I agree, I've been on Flex almost 2 months...I count my points (which really is taking calories, fat, and fiber into consideration). At times, I think about calories, but I never total them up. I do know that now (being almost at my goal weight), I get 19 points, which is about 1300-1400 calories a day. Just be sure to control your portions and measure things, and write everything down!! If you stay within your points and don't go crazy with sodium and excess water, you should lose 1/2-2 lbs a week! (normally the first week you lose a lot more too!)

The reason I chose WW flex was that points are smaller numbers so I didn't have to do so much math :)

Calorie counting is a free endevour & some people like knowing how many calories they are consuming in a day... because WW is like a more complicated version of calorie counting (since it includes fiber & fat as well to calculate a point). But calories are part of a Point, and some people simply want to be aware of that. It's not required. :)

Counting calories is kind of unnecessary when you're counting Points. Some people do it because it gives them some feeling of control, or they like to see their carbs/fat/protein ratio. It's just another metric, but nothing you should worry about at all if you don't want to! I've never counted calories on top of counting points. I trust the system :)
