Default Tacos

We live in a remote area. The bars cook tacos on Monday nights. Tonite is the first night since I started WW that I'm faced with taco night. How do I guesstimate the point value? I thought about once hb brings the taco home switching the shell and switching the cheese, but then, what's the point of even ordering one, you know?

I do know I'm going to fill up on salad before he gets home so that I'll only eat one, but I want to make sure that I'm doing this correctly.

That depends on the type of taco and what they put in it. Is it more like a Taco Bell taco with hard shell or a sof shell? Beef or chicken? Is it more like the traditional "al carbon" taco with soft corn tortilla and grilled steak or chicken topped with cilantro and onion like Del Taco restaurant?

This website: Dietfacts.com has tons of restaurants listed (both Taco Bell and Del Taco are there), and you'll find point value each restaurant item.

I'd stick with chicken if you can and load on the veggies if that's an option. And like you said, have a big salad. Whatever you decide, just enjoy your taco, remember that it should be moderation, not deprivation.

PS I had tacos for lunch too!

Sorry, I guess I should've elaborated. The worst part is that they fry the flour shell. It's ground beef with lettuce, tomato and cheese....Not very healthy I know....but just one.....

It's 7 pts. difference for a taco salad without the shell, which are deep fried. A large flour tortilla is 4 pts. so I'd say you have to add about 3 pts. for the deep frying. If it's a large tortilla, maybe 2 if it's a smaller one. So if you find the pts. for a taco just add a couple pts for the deep fried tortilla.

If it was me and you have a food scale, I would give it a quick weighing before consuming if it's possible, sometimes I sneak a weigh-in just to keep in my mind what the size/weight of things are. And when you figure it out, write it down somewhere so you'll have it for next time!

You have a great plan, having your salad and having just one, so you have it and enjoy it and keep on plan. Eat it nice and slow and enjoy it. Remember, we're in it for the long haul and we have to learn how to have tacos and other stuff we love and work it into our plans.

It's a lifestyle. I was dying for a baked potato, so I planned it for tonight and loved every bite!! Now, I'm making sure the rest of my night is on track, getting my water in and tracking.

That is EXACTLY my thinking!!!! I will quit if I absolutely cannot have any of the food I love. Therefore, I have to figure out how to work it in and not go off plan. I need to love living my new lifestyle. If I don't, it will never stick.
