Default Swimming NSV

I went to the lake today with my children. As I got closer to the water, I took my shorts and t-shirt off that was covering my modest 1-piece black swimsuit. I laid my clothes, shoes and towel in the sand and slowly walked into the water. For the first time in many, many years I wasn't so self-conscious that I wanted to leave my shirt on. I looked around at the other swimmers and most if not all the adults were bigger than me, both men and women. This didn't ever happen before. I was always one of the largest people there. I used to leave my towel around me til I was knee deep and then try to throw it to the beach, not caring if landed in the water or not. I ran into some old acquaintances that I hadn't seen in 6 yrs. and they said "We didn't recognize you, you've lost so much weight". This made my day. I swam 4 hrs. with my DD. I was also able to blow up my own life raft, which I couldn't have done in the past. Great day all together.

What a GREAT nsv. To feel that great about yourself about wearing a bathingsuit and then to top it off to run into some old friends and get a compliment like that. I can imagine how you felt. Wonderfull

Thanks everyone. It took me 11 months to lose 86 lbs. and I am still trying to get the last 3 lbs. off and it is very slow going right now. I wanted to share this story because I have always felt so bad about myself. This day helped me feel so much better. I told my DH and he didn't get it. He just said "I never thought you were that big". Love is blind. I did use sunscreen with a 15 SPF and skin was pink yesterday but brownish and not hurting this morning.

This is what it's all about. Being able to get out there and do stuff and not feel self concious about your weight, well done!!!

Oh and my DH says the same thing whenever I mention NSV's like that.

Of course my DH thinks I'm the same size now as when we got married. I was wearing a size 18 wedding dress and I wear a size 4 now. I guess he is blind. I had to pull the dress out and show him to make him know that I was that size when we married. Just goes to prove that when you are in love the size doesn't matter.
