Default These stores are WHERE in the mall?

All of my life, being a 16 year old girl, I've wanted to shop at the NORMAL stores. Not lane bryant, as pretty as the clothes are, or torrid, as cool as the clothes are. I wanted to shop at American Eagle, Abercrombie, Delias..You know, the brain-washed 'teenage' youth stores. Well, I've just always been far too big...

Well today, all 195 pounds of me, went into Abercrombie and Fitch to MAYBE just buy a shirt [note, I had to search on the mall map to even find where this store exsisted!]...I went in there, tried on the first shirt (a cute little number which said 'Abercrombie & Fitch'), and..well...this size LARGE shirt..FIT ME! It was a little tight on the arms, but I had to buy it. Then, just to make sure that it wasn't just the shirt, I tried on a polo-- AND IT FIT TOO! I was literally shocked. Under such circumstances, I bought the shirt..Ran to American Eagle, and tore up their clothes looking for a size large-- everything fit! I was so excited, I even bought a pair of those 'dip-so-low-JUST-for-the-sake-of-dipping-low' pants. Huzzah, I have made it to the size large's and it feels pretty darn good!

Anyone else have one of those experinces today? Feel free to share so I can congradulate you too!

That's cool! And I know what you mean by too big and wanting to shop at those stores. I'm 17 years old and I can wear Abercrombie shirts like you but I'm not a 12 in jeans so I can't wear theirs. I started out wearing American Eagles 18s when I was in the 240s (but my legs are a lot thinner than the rest of me) and now I can wear their 14s or stretchy 12/13 jeans. You just have to look around. I can wear PacSun XLs for a while now and GAP makes their stuff bigger so.. I bet you can fit in almost all those stores now. You just have to try.. that's what I did. Congrats on your weightloss!! That's so awesome.

I know exactly what you're talking about. Be careful with your pocketbook, I went through a phase of trying on clothes and buying everything that looked good. I had lived so many years where NOTHING looked good and if anything looked remotely acceptable I HAD to buy it. It took awhile to accept the idea that lots of things look good on me now and I don't have to buy everything just because it looks okay - I can be picky and buy what I really really like!

I think your first time in a "normal store" trying on "normal clothes" is such an exciting feeling!! I'll never forget my first big shopping trip, in October buying a winter wardrobe, and I could go to soooooooo many different stores, it was sooooooooo exciting!!!

The novelty hasn't worn off yet!! This fat chick was born to shop!

Well done you!!!

You know what else is a great feeling? I remember back when I lost weight, I went into the Avenue and I wore the "Smallest" and not the "largest" size they had in the store! That was a good feeling too.

I had the same kind of experience yesterday! Last year I couldn't even really shop at Lane Bryant, and yesterday I went into a Land's End outlet and almost yelped out loud when a Large shirt FIT!!! And I am apparently able to wear some 16s -- I had barely wrapped my head around being a size 20 again!

I can't quite shop in all stores yet, but I think when I update my fall wardrobe I'm going to have to watch the pocketbook!!!!!
