I am getting married June 10th and that was the catalyst for me to lose weight. Since early March, I have lost about 19 lbs and about 3 inches around my waist. This is the first time a diet has ever worked for me. Before , I would lose 5-10 lbs but I would gain them back quickly. My mistake was not allowing myself ANY junkfood at all and not exercising. I found that after a while with no junkfood I would binge on it and gain all the weight back.
I have gotten to a point where I will allow myself some junkfood, but in moderation. If I have a craving for chips I get the single serving bag. I am a huge chocolate freak so I usually keep bite size candy bars around and allow myself up to 3 a day. (If I don't do it that way, after a week I'll binge and have 3 full size candy bars.) I have also always been a boredom eater. One trick I've found for that is to brush my teeth because then everything tastes gross. Or I chew gum. As I've started to see and feel results it has gotten easier to resist temptation.
I have also finally realized that to keep the weight off I need to exercise. At first, going to the gym was really hard. I thought everyone would know that I had no idea what I was doing. I also have a thing about sweat. I HATE sweating, it's just so gross. I'm learning to deal with it though because I love the results.
Even beyond the pounds and inches lost are the benefits I am feeling in my health. I have a lot more energy. My blood pressure has gone down. I am sleeping better. The best though, is that I used to get headaches at LEAST 5 days out of the week. Last month I had to take pills for a headache only 4 times! I can't remember a time that I've had that few headaches.
I just wish I had found this site sooner. It's such an inspiration seeing that other people have had the same roadblocks and overcame them.
You sound so much like me from your eating habits/cravings. I know just how you feel with the chocolate! Sometimes I'll take chocolate chips from my mom's baking pantry and munch on them. Usually a tablespoon of those will get rid of my chocolate craving Keep up the great work, Kristi!
Congratulations on the weight lost and the inches. You are doing exactly what works best for you and that is what is important. Good luck and best wishes.

I'm in the twin cities area, though I hope not for long. I REALLY dislike big cities. The only good thing about it is that the gym is only a few miles away.
