Talking Exciting (mini) non-scale goal!

A year or so ago when I wasn't working out or eating well at all, my fiancee (then girlfriend) and I decided to hike the Hollywood sign. It was a grueling, painful experience that involved me doing a lot of huffing and puffing and stopping for long periods of time. It is a pretty hard hike and has a lot of steep sections, so I did it just to challenge myself. We reached the top of the mountain in just over two hours.

It was such a difficult hike for me that I never really convinced myself to do it again. But now that I have lost a few pounds, been eating well, and started exercising (and actually effing running) again, last weekend I decided to attempt it again.

I told my fiancee what I wanted to do and we got up at 5:30am, headed over, and started hiking.

I couldn't believe how much easier it was. Yes it was still tough and I was definitely panting, but I only stopped a small handful of times to regroup and they were only 30 second stops, as opposed to the 2-minute stops I had taken last time.

We reached the top in LESS THAN AN HOUR!

Seriously. From over two hours to less than one.

AND THEN... get this - we went straight to Disneyland and walked around for five or six hours there.

I SURVIVED IT ALL!

So, I really hate this photo of myself (again, can't believe I let myself get back to my high weight again and this is quite an unflattering view of me) but I'm so happy with my accomplishment I don't even care!!

Now I really can't wait for the next time I get to post here in Mini-Goals... hopefully with a weight loss success!

I am honestly astounded we did it so quickly. It's a solid trek! Did I mention we ran back down? And that we went to sleep at about 6pm after we got home? haha. What a day.

Going to try another hike this weekend and see how it goes.
