Default 50lbs (3 stone 9lbs) down, feeling good!

Hey everyone, I'm new to this forum and just thought I would share a bit of my weight loss story. Iv'e been overweight for years and years now, I'm 5'3 and have yo yo'd for years and years ranging between roughly 12.7 stone and over 15 stone! Always starting a diet and only lasting a few weeks or months then piling it all back on.

This year I gave birth to my 1st son and a few weeks after he was born I weighed myself and was horrified to see 15 stone 2lbs on the scales! I had really let myself go, especially not caring during the pregnancy, using it as an excuse to barely move and eat loads! So near the end of May 2014 something snapped and I decided I did not (could not) want to be a fat mummy for my boy.

I decided to calorie count using a free online food diary system and stuck to 1200 calories a day, I still drink wine, I still have treats, I also go over my calories sometimes! But in general I always make sure Most days I have a calorie deficit! I also started walking and just generally moving a lot more (having a son helps with that, I always changed his nappy upstairs so was running up and down the stairs about 20 times a day! Think this helped shrink my huge bum!). I think what also made it possible was the change in my mindset, thinking positively I just no longer wanted to overeat as I knew my goal was so important to my happiness. At 15 stone 2lbs I was so immobile, I found doing simple exercises really difficult, found it really hard to walk up and down the stairs, had no clothes to fit me, even though I was outwardly quite chatty, friendly etc and good at my job, inwardly I was obsessed with how fat I was and found this affected every area of my life, I practically shut myself away from the world as much as possible, totally ashamed at how big I had become.

Anyway, fast forward to today, I am now weighing 11 stone 7lbs!! And feel so light, healthy and happy! My journey is by no means over, I still have a way to go but am relieved at having dropped so much stoneage! Life feels easier now and I can actually do my coat up! Sounds silly but to me it's a huge milestone. Something I will say is low fat fad diets do not work! The body needs fat to function! It's calorie intake and energy output that is key. I could eat healthier and I could do more exercise but right now, I am doing what works for me and this really does! If you throw yourself into a strict diet and ridiculously hard exercise regime, majority of people will give up! Slow and steady weight loss is best! Also means no hanging skin!

Anyway, just wanted to share, If anyone wants to know anything else please ask! Good luck to you all on your journeys xx

It's a British unit of weight measurement, 1 stone equals 14 lbs.
