1st goal ACHIEVED! with pix
OK I have waited so long for this day- I finally hit my initial goal! I started my new lifestyle in late September and today, I hit the first goal I set. (After hovering annoyingly close to it for what seems like weeks!)
I read here way more than I post so I have to take this opportunity to say, you have no idea how much you have all inspired me and kept me going. I read posts here every day at work while eating my breakfast, and it really keeps me going. Thank you all for your collective wisdom and sharing your stories.
I set this goal because it seemed achievable, having no idea where I really wanted to end up. I think I thought if I just hit this goal and went no further, I'd be satisfied. Well I am very satisfied, because I FEEL so much better I can't believe it. But I also feel I would like to go a little further, and now I know I can do it. This is HUGE to me, to have hit this number.
I don't know yet what my next goal is. 140 lbs puts me in a non overweight BMI.... size 10 pants sounds like a good goal...(I'm a 12 now)... I'm thinking more in terms of how I want to look and feel than any number. I'm really considering all the advice to lift weights and shape my body from here, more than having a number or size target. I know I look so much better, but still have quite a lot of belly I'd like to flatten.
I'm not really too stressed about what my next goal is right now, though. I have learned so much, and gained so much in self confidence and most importantly, learned to actually enjoy this process, that I know I will get to my goal, even if I don't know what it actually is yet.
I have pictures (which a part of me is still mortified to share). Personally I don't see that big of a difference because I'm in bra and underwear. The difference is much more noticeable in real clothes but like many of us, I avoided the camera for so long I don't really have a good before. I'm posting them anyway because I've been so inspired by other people's pix.
I have to say, to anyone just starting out, my biggest tip is this: Come to this site DAILY. Multiple times a day. Log in during your usual snacking time and look at the success stories, pix, read the posts in lots of different forums. When you're feeling weak, come and read here. There is proof all around us that this CAN be done, and it can be so much more positive and fun than we expect self improvement to be. Focus on the ups not the downs. I tell people every day that if I had known I was going to feel so much better, I would have had the motivation to start a long time ago.
You CAN do this! All you have to do is the do-ing!!!!!!!
