Goal Pants!
I'm not sure if anyone else does this, but I started it about two years ago when went through my first successful dieting phase. At my heaviest I was in a size 16, and I bought a pair of size 14's and hung them beside my mirror. Once a weak, i'd try them on until finally, they'd fit. And not just the "I had to lay down on the bed and not breathe out for 30 seconds" kind of fit. I mean the natural kind of fit that made you feel like a million dollars. As soon as I could wear the 14's, I bought 12's and repeated the pattern until I was in a 10. Now, i'm in a very, very snug 12. I'm actually a 14 by now, but i've just got some really worn in 12's that fit "okay". So today, I bought a pair of 12 jeans from American Eagle that were on sale for 19.99. I'm starting over with these jeans :) Does anyone else have similar mini-goal motivations?

Yep. I saved my old pants that were really cute when I was smaller. I'm waiting til this size gets baggier before I try them on again, because last time I couldn't get them up very far. soon, though!
|
I like getting into new things. But I could never buy anything wasn't already the right size or very close to it - I just have too terrible a time with most pants not "fitting" well (as opposed to just being big enough).
|
Oh yeah. I have a pair of jeans I call my "Honeymoon Jeans" I wore them on my honeymoon 18 long years ago. Been hauling them around in a box all this time swearing that "one day" I'd get back in to them. Still can't quite get them over my butt, but getting closer - didn't used to be able to get them past my knees.
|
Can I skip two sizes? I'm in a loose 14 now and I really want to fit in a size 10 pair of jeans (that's my goal).
|
I have a few pair of size 5 jeans that I want to try to squeeze into again...haha. I'm in a 16 now. Ugh...

Yesssssssss!!!!!!!!
I have kept a pile of jeans that I could not wear when I started my weight loss journey in August. I just went through about 4 pairs of jeans that were so tight, laying on the bed wouldn't have helped any. I tried them on yesterday they all fit...even enough that I would go out in public with them on. Right now I have 2 prs of shorts and a gown that currently don't fit. They are on the back of my door waiting patiently for me to fit into them. Hopefully they will be perfect by the end of January when I go on my cruise! If not...I know they will still be closer to fitting than they did 3 months ago! :carrot: |
I was going through my closet on Saturday and I realized that most of my pants are goal pants right now!
For some reason I was wearing the same few pairs over and over (I guess subconsciously I knew which ones actually fit). On Saturday I was looking for some of the stuff I hadn't worn in a while. A lot of them fit but are really tight, so I'd never wear them in public...just yet, I also came across a pair of jeans that barely fit and that I really liked so my plan is to move through all those pairs of pants get to the jeans and then get rid of all of them because they all are too big for me! |
I have a BOX of size 14s and some 12s that don't fit yet that I try on maybe once a week or so to see. I usually pick one pair of pants and once those fit move on to another. I am proud to say the first pair of size 14s I pulled out fit and they are now my everyday jeans! Now onto the rest of the 14s since every pair fits differently!
|
I woudn't skip, because even though you are a loose 14, and it wouldn't take you much time to get to a 12 (even though it will take a little time), it will seem like forever getting to 10 and it'll be easier for you to give up. The point of going down one size at a time is to accomplish little goals so that you see your results faster and get motivated :)

Onic, I did that. I have a size 10 pair of black jeans that I bought in NY. I have them hanging by my treadmill to eventually get into. I am now a snug 14, but I am wanting to be a 10-8.
Congrats to everyone! |
I have a pair of what I call "10 pound pants". If I lose 10 pounds they will fit perfect!

This past week I tried on a pair of jeans that I wore last about 12 years ago. To my delight they fit! :cloud9:
I had not lost any weight the past week so I had not expected this. The jeans are 3 inches (waist) less than what I was wearing. Cool, huh? :woohoo: |
I have done the same thing but not only with pants but with tops as well :) from
XL to L and now from M to small eventually :) |

I've got a honeymoon dress that is 22 years old! I can't wait to wear that again! |
I have 2 skirt/blouse sets that I just have not been able to part with. They are probably around size 10. I loved them and gained weight so rapidly that I only wore them 2 times each before they were uncomfortable. I have only just begun my journey, but I like the idea of pulling them out once i hit size 12. I look so forward to wearing them again.

This is great! I did this with my first pair of goal pants and got into them! Now i am a size 8 (Old Navy jeans) and just got a pair of 8 Lucky jeans! Hahah they dont fit. cant button them....Guess they fit differntly. Anyway, have them next to my mirror and I try them on everytime i get a loss. Eventually they will either fit or get stretched to fit hahaha. Love this goal idea!

i think that having goal pants is a great idea..i think a lot of women have hung onto a pair at least of jeans they want to fit intol that they no longer can...I mean i have a VERY LARGE tote of clothes that i am just dying to fit in...i had a baby 4 months ago and man does that change your body..i am really hoping to be able to get back into some of them soon!
You are doing great getting smaller and fitting into a smaller size inch by inch! Thats Fantastic and I am sure it makes you feel great to see those numbers decrease! Keep uo the good work! |
Yep, I have a dress I wore to Phantom in 1994. I have kept it all these years and am wearing it again this season--it's solid black and a classic.
I was in an 18 and currently in a 10. When I was a 12 a few weeks ago I bought a pair of jeans that I loved. Well, today I went and bought the same pair again in my new size. I can't wait to buy the 8. |
I've never done this intentionally, but when I reached "normal BMI" and was a size 10, I celebrated by going shopping and I accidently grabbed a pair of size 6's that were in the wrong stack and purchased them. When I got home, they obviously didn't fit. Instead of taking them back, I kept them as my "goal pants". While I have been in a Size 6 for a couple of weeks now, these were cut very slim in the thighs and they didn't fit. This morning, I got up and saw my goal pants sitting there...and tried them on...and I'm wearing them RIGHT NOW!!! They are just plain, old Sonoma khakis from Kohl's, but I couldn't be prouder if I was wearing Prada!
