S/C/G: 199/128/125 (new goal of 115)

Height: 5'3

Default I did it! I completed a 1/2 marathon this morning!

My training paid off, this morning I completed the Shamrock 1/2 marathon here in Virginia Beach! Of course just finishing was my main goal, but I really wanted to finish in under 2 hours and I did, I just checked the results and I finished in 1hr 56m even. I'm feeling pretty darn pleased with myself. I didn't really start hurting until the last mile when my whole legs just felt like they were super tight, but I kept plodding along while just telling myself over and over "It's mostly mental, don't quit now, you're so close, you've come so far etc". My wonderful Fiance was at the finish live cheering me on like a maniac, it was brilliant to see him and of course the finish line! I'm so close to my weight loss goal which is great- I last weighed a couple of days ago and was 129ish, I didn't bother to weigh this morning and probably won't tomorrow because tonight I'm going out to celebrate and drink some well earned beers! Oh, I should mention that the medal is actually a beer bottle opener too, how funny! I'm taking a couple of days rest from working out and I'll be back to the gym and running on Tue. I have received so much support from so many of you here, I truly appreciate all of it and thanks for all the inspiration too!

Awesome, another VA Beach'er, that makes three of us now, unless more come out of the woodwork. Maybe we could set up a little VA Beach meet up. Go for a walk along the boardwalk, park or something.

Thank you! I love to run! I've always been a fan of running, but when I gained weight in my early twenties I stopped, even when I was overweight I'd see runners and seriously envy them. I'm planning on working on my 1/2 time and hopefully for the next one I'll be in corral one....a dream would to be with the elite runners, but it may always just be a dream. I plan on doing a full marathon next March. How about you, do you do races, how much do you run and do you do trails?

Thank you! There seems to be several of us in this area, I know of three others and I'm sure there are more lurking around- maybe we could do a meet one day, meet some folk with a mutual interest/goal.
