Summer MRC Thread
I thought maybe those following the MRC would post in this thread through the summer so we can all share our successes and struggles.
I finished my 4 days of the pre-conditioning food plan and weighed in today for the first time. I lost an amazing 4.5lbs this week.:carrot: I cannot believe that in four days of being on the Pre-conditioning food plan I lost 4.5lbs AND I have my period. I am super excited. I know that I cannot expect this type of weight loss every week but I will take it for this week. One thing that I am proud of myself for is limiting my alcohol intake this week. I got way to use to have a couple drinks each night when I would get home from work to eliminate the mundane nightly routine but this week the only alcohol I have had was on Wednesday when we met friends for dinner. I went to the food class today and have a list of things to pick up at the grocery store to begin this new journey. I am nervous about the weekend, it is hard to stick to a schedule over the weekends but I am going to take things one day at a time and do my very best to stick to the menu plan. |
Congratulations!!!
4.5 lbs that is awesome and you are allowed to drink alcohol - I will go to your center. I am going on vacation in June and I love to enjoy at least a drink once in a while. I will ask my consultant next week if it is possible at all. I am extremely worried about a possible weight gain when I have to eat out for 2 weeks. Good luck on your journey! CC |
I don't know if alochol is "allowed" but I am going to allow myself to have an occasional drink. My feeling is that if it is a small amount occasion it is not going to affect my weight loss greatly. That is my own personal feelings now. I am new to the program so if I do see there is a big difference between weeks that I have a couple of drinks and weeks that I don't then I will consider giving it up for the 20 weeks of the program.
|
Weigh in after one week of graduation & farewell parties. I did not gain any weight. Yeah!!!
I am leaving on Sunday for a 3 week vacation, I have discussed alcohol use and my consultant said it would be fine in moderation. I should make good choices when I am eating out. |
CONGRANTS on maintaining after so many parties!!! Woo Hoo!!!
I weighed in Tuesday and did not have a loss but am not surprised after my loss last Friday. I go back on Thursday and will be out of town for the Holiday weekend. I am very nervous out it and plan to take food that I can eat but sometimes being around junk and eating out makes it REALLY hard to stay on track. Have a great time on your vacation CC. 3 weeks - bliss!!! |
So I was a bit disappointed when I weighed in today. My first weigh in this week I maintained, which after such a big loss the week before, I accepted OK but today I only had a .5lb loss. I have done my very best to stick to the plan all week and showing such a small loss the first week makes me sad.
I know my body is probably in shock from such a drastic diet change and I have lost 5lbs within two weeks and I know that is really good but I still hoped for a bigger loss. Have done my best to prepare for the holiday weekend and am determined to stay as close to on plan as possible. |
Do not worry, I have had a similar experience. My body needs to adjust to the weight loss. It still continues for me. I stick to the plan and it is working for me. I am never really hungry, I try to switch between different veggies & salads, different proteins each day. Sometimes it is not the pounds, it's the inches you are losing. I am down 25 lbs and 35 inches as of today. I am going away for the next 3 weeks on vacation, I just found out - if I am losing weight during the 3 weeks, my center will add the 3 weeks on to my weeks of the plan. This keeps me motivated.
In March I maintained my weight on a 9 day vacation, so I think it might be possible. I am not sure if I should weigh myself during the vacation if the fitness center has a scale. Good luck to everyone, I will check in once a week. CC |
Chocolate Cheesecake - Thee weeks of vacation sounds like heaven to me. The most I get is 1 week at a time. I hope that you have an amazing trip. I will admit that eating out 2/3 times a day and trying to stay on a diet would be really rough for me. Good luck!
I made it through the holiday weekend pretty well. The worst meal I ate was a hotdog on a bun and about a cup of pasta salad. I did have a few drinks but did not go crazy and stayed away from the sugary ones I enjoy during the summer. I did not get any exercise in. I had planned to take some walks while we were gone but it rained everyday except one and that day we spent on the water all day. My scale showed a small loss, about a pound but I know that I have to use the centers scale and it might read something different. I am going to weigh in tomorrow so we will see. |
It has been a month or so of my being off track. Today is my day 1 back on program. I am going into the center tomorrow to talk to some folks. I am going to also get a replacement copy of my green program. I have been that far off track that I lost my program stuff. I have to do this for myself and my family. I deserve better.
I am also going on a mission trip to Guatemala in January. It will be hot there, and I need to be in good shape! We will be doing a lot of walking, so I need to be more fit. Weighing less will make everything I am going to be doing there so much easier. This weekend was rough, but I am looking forward to getting back on track. |
Amandarowe- Congrats for making the decision to get back on track. I have to say, MRC is a strict food plan and it has been challenging for me to stay on track also. Your mission trip sounds like fun and a good goal to set for yourself.
I am ending my third week, pre menu week and 2 wks of the food program, today when I weighed in, I lost 1lb. I am happy because we were away from home over the holiday weekend. While I did pretty good at staying on track, I did drink more and the food was not perfect. I will take the pound though. |
I made it through another weekend staying on plan at least 90%. I did have a couple extra pieces of bread last night which was not on plan but I really tried drinking water and eating the correct foods. I am not sure what to expect when I weigh in tomorrow, hoping to see a loss but I have not had any huge losses since the first week. I am doing my best to stay the course, knowing the weight will eventually start to go away if I do what I need to. Just hard to be patience. Ug.
|
Weighed in today and lost 2.5 lbs, down to 189.5. Super excited with my progress. Going to hit the 10lb mark in the next week. Fingers crossed!!!
|
Great job on the loss this week! I stayed on plan pretty well today. I'm taking baby steps. My breakfast was non existent because I was in a huge hurry and didn't get to eat. I added a little extra to my lunch which almost balanced it out. It feels so good to have had a good food day today.
|
Amandarowe - Congrats on have a good day. Baby steps is all we can do. I try not to look to far into the future or set long term goals on this diet, I take it one day at a time. My goal for each day has been to stay on plan..I am better some days than others.
Best of luck to you!!! |
Hi ya'll! Today is my last day of preconditioning. Tomorrow I start the Meat Lovers Plan. I was wondering if you all could help me understand what the different colored menus mean?
|
Just checking in, I am trying to stick my diet but going out for lunch and dinner is making it very stressful for me. There is only so much salad with chicken you can eat. The last 3 days I had one drink in the evening and now it feels even more difficult to stick to my diet.
I am working out, snorkeling or swimming during the day - I decided not to weigh myself during the vacation, the big surprise will come in 2 weeks or not. @ NEMom, you are int 180's - whoohoo @ Amanda, I am glad to see you posting again. One day at the time, it might feel like a big task but breaking it down into each day everything seems to be reachable. @ jamie - I am on the green menu, mine has some more carbs - I need to eat some bread and fruit each day. I have not tried out any other menus. My 20 weeks are up next month and I will move to maintenance. |
The different colored menus is for the different plans you are on. I was not even given the MEAT LOVERS PLAN as a option, did not even know it was one until now. I started on the Basic Menu and today at my consultation I was switched to the Basic More menu which has snacks and is more the way I eat in general. Have you been to the food class?? They do help to explain the menu there.
I had my second weigh in today and gained .5lbs. I am honestly not surprised, I am about to start my period and have not had the best last couple of days. I am going to refocus this weekend and do my very best to stay on plan. Hello ChocolateCheesecake! Sounds like you are having an amazing vacation. Can you have a steak, some veggies and a plain baked potato with just a little butter. Sounds like you are doing a great job. Enjoy your vacation! Good luck! |
I did not know there is a menu with snacks ..... I asked once and was told nothing is available with snacks, I mean a snack that I can chew and not just drink another HNS.
I am not a fan of beef, therefore it is chicken, tofu, and fish. I started asking in the restaurant to make just veggies and fish kebab. I stay away from starches at dinner, it just makes it easier. I might have a glass of wine or a light beer - I am starting to like Corona light. To everyone a great weekend. CC |
June 12, 2016 marked the one month of being on the MRC program. I have lost 8 lbs which is not outstanding but still good. My motivation and excitement is weaning and it is shear grit that is getting me through. I did not have a great food day on Friday and Saturday. I did not overeat but did eat a few things off plan. I gave myself a stern talking to on Sunday and finished the day with a good food day. I did some meal prepping over the weekend and it is such an important thing for me to remember to do, then I am prepared and know what I have available to eat for lunches and dinner. I get lazy I guess and did not do this very important step the last couple of weeks.
I weighed on my own scale this morning and did not show a loss from where it was last week. I know my period such be starting any day so that could be it. Ugh, this fat does not want to go anywhere. I am going to continue to take it one day at a time because if I think to far into the future I get frustrated. |
Chocolate Cheesecake - the menu which has snacks is called the METABOLIC MORE menu. I got so use to the basic menu that I am having a hard adapting to this one but I keep trying. I have some good food days and some bad.
Good for you for trying so hard to stick to the plan on vacation. I do not like fish and have not really tried tofu. I do eat a lot of chicken and have started eating more ground turkey instead of hamburger. |
Hi My name is ceejay. I have been on and off the MRC plan for over 10 years. I still have the green sheet plan and will be doing this at home. It's what works for me if I work the plan. Wish MRC had an office that was close enough for me to go to but they don't any more.
NEmom That's great that you lost 8 pounds. Amandarowe. My mom's maiden name is Rowe. I will have to do baby steps also |
Ceejay52 - you said such a powerful thing "It's what works for me IF I WORK THE PLAN". I am really good a playing food games, like if I only have a little of this it will not be a big deal, etc.
I applaud you for doing it on your own. Are you ordering the protein drinks from the dietcentral website? The people at my center are nice enough and helpful but it bothers me they look and comment on my food journal each time and then want me to talk to them about the plan even when I do not have anything to say. I still have a long time on the plan I have paid for but am unsure if I will reup after the 20 wks. They do offer a good deal but again, the twice a week visits and all the visit time bugs me a little. I have decided this week I am only going to weigh in once. See how it goes. |
I will be back on Monday, back to my house and being able to eat healthier.
I will step onto the scale at home, so I do not get the shock of a lifetime when I am at the center. I am not sure anymore how well I am doing, I had a couple drinks over the last 3 weeks and with it I start to snack. Oh well, it is what it is. To all of you a great weekend. CC |
I went to the center to weigh in on Friday and had lost 3.5lbs. This puts my total weight loss in the month I have been on the plan at 11.5lbs. I am very happy with that. Overall, my eating this weekend was pretty good. I did have one meal off plan on Friday. It was a chicken taco salad but I ate the bowl because I was starving. Not good. Hope it does not cause a gain this week.
Chocolate Cheesecake - Hope your weigh in was not as bad as you were expecting!!! |
Great weigh in NEMom. Every little bit counts and I think we have to live a little.
I stepped on the scale this morning, not too bad 2.5lbs gain over 3 weeks of normal eating. Partially normal eating, I tried to stay within a 1,500 calories each day - for most days. I had drinks, 3 really big meals, bagels and bread - it was almost normal eating with addition of more salads and portion size. Now, I have to weigh in this Friday on my day off from work, I am swamped at work after 3 weeks. Amanda - how are you doing? |
Chocolate Cheesecake - 2.5lbs is not bad for a 3 week vacation. Most if it is probably water weight and will disappear before you know it.
My food week has been pretty good. I have tried hard to stay on track this week. Need to work on exercise but I just do not feel like it when I get home from work. I tried weighing myself this morning but my scale was wacky, hope it is just the battery and it is not broken. I hate having to use different scales. |
Weighed in today and am down another 1lb. I was surprised because I lost so much last week but I will take it. The last two weeks I have only gone to the center once a week to weigh in instead of the recommended twice. The staff is nice but I hate them looking through my food journal and commenting what is not 'on plan' or I am not getting my protein. Their job, I know but still makes me feel uncomfortable, plus, I have to leave to to go so this makes it easier and saves gas.
|
Don't worry, the consultants should be happy that you write everything down. My consultant is very understanding that we have to live as well. My consultants are former clients and give me advise from their own experiences. I do write down everything I eat, that way I know what I do and it registers better in my brain.
You are doing awesome, 12lbs that is a lot. I am weighing in tomorrow, I love to have lost at least 1/2 lb because then I would get my 3 weeks back. My 20 weeks are almost up, I am very close to my goal weight of 170 lbs. |
Down to 170 lbs. Yeah, I reached my goal not gaining weight during my vacation.
I doubt that my center will honor the promise they gave me to give me the weeks back, even today they talked about it getting weeks back and then when I lost weight - they did not even want to speak about it anymore. Let's see I pick it up next week again when I weigh in. I think I need the weeks to lose my last 5 lbs. I will only weigh in once a week as well because I will take a 3 day weekend til the end of the August. To everyone a great weekend. |
I made some bad decisions yesterday. It started off wrong in the morning, no breakfast, I was too hungry at lunchtime, not enough water, dinner was okay but then I had some wine and beer. I should have known better that I start eating salty snacks with drinks in the evening.
Today is a new day and I am back on track again. Have a great week, CC |
Vitamins and phentermine
I was wondering if you can take their vitamins and phentermine?
I have been taking their vitamins for the past two months and I have followed the program. Although the inches are coming off I only lost about six pounds in two months and I am hungry often. I do work out everyday for an hour. I just want to see some of the weight to come off already. |
I do not take their vitamins, too expensive. I use my own vitamins. I do use the MRC-6 and Corti Trim, that's about it.
I actually add some Metamucil to water when I remember. From my own experience, I lost about 8-10 lbs during the first 2 weeks and then it slowed down but the inches came off. I am not focused on the scale, just the end result. I hope this helps, everyone is different and we have to figure out what works for us. |
I am wondering, you said you are often hungry maybe you need to eat more to get to the optimum fat burn results.
I sometimes eat more veggies and some more protein and it does not really interfere with my weight loss. |
I am used to eating five small meals a day. I switched to that menu but the weight is not moving. I don't know if it is because of the daily kick boxing classes I am doing.
The program is very expensive and I am following so it is frustrating that I don't see the results. I am not giving up just venting |
It must be frustrating to do everything according to plan and do not get the desired result. Do not give up, talk to the consultants.
I was told when I run a lot then I need to increase my protein intake in form of extra HSN's. A I am not doing it regularly, so only on the days I run a lot I eat extra yogurt or have an extra drink. Athletes eat way more carbs than this diet allows you. Talk to your consultant, they have a nutritionist & doctor on staff that can be asked questions. I think you need a certain amount of protein, carbs & fat in order to stay in the fat burning mode. Could you build more muscle? Five meals a day - what plan is this? I am on the green plan, I eat 3 meals plus the HSN's, I would love to have an extra snack. |
How is everyone doing?
I have had a rough couple of weeks. Two weeks ago when I weighed in I gained 3lbs for no reason besides PMS/hormones that I could relate it to. I did not have a 100% on plan week and I did admit to having a piece of carrot cake for my sons birthday but even the consultant said that would not cause a 3lb gain. Last week I was on vacation. I was very good until about mid week and then my eating and drinking went off plan. When I weighed in on Saturday after my return, I showed a 4lb loss but really it was only 1lb due to the large gain. that is only a loss of .5 lbs per week for the last two weeks. Ugh, not good. I am committed to having a great week this week. Back to work and my normal routine. Hoping if I can have a good week and a good loss I will get my motivation back. I cannot give up but it is getting harder. |
I am stuck at 170 lbs right now, I had a busy week with lots of dinners and I started to have a drink in the evening. That's my downfall with the wine or beer - I then like to snack.
I started to eat according to plan again as of yesterday and I will go my weigh in on Friday. I skipped last week because we went away for a long weekend. NEMom, it is a little easier for me, I am past the PMS/hormone fluctuations. The downfall is losing the weight is sooo much more difficult then when I was younger. I have to really stick to the diet to lose some weight. I still like to lose the last 5 lbs. I have to tell you, in the beginning I did not think it was possible. I had weeks where I did not lose weight at all. MCR made it sound so easy to drop 30 pounds or more but the diet is very restricted. I am close to the maintenance part of the diet. To all have a great week. |
5lbs away from goal! That is great! You will get there..Look how far you have come.
I have the same problem with having a couple drinks and then snacking. The first month or so, I really tried to limit my alcohol intake. These last three weeks I have not done such a great job and then I snack so even if I have some really good days, those evenings with drinks and snacks cancel it out. I am so frustrated with myself because I can see myself spiraling out of control. I totally need to stop this before I derail my progress. MRC does make it seem like losing 30 lbs is not big deal, um, yes it is and the older I get the harder it is to loose an ounce. I have to get my stuff together. Would really like to be at 180 - 4 lbs down by the end of the month. I did restart trying to exercise some and need to work on getting some regular exercise in for my health as well as weight loss. Have a great week all! |
The 160's are reached, just barely but I am not stuck in the 170's anymore.
I had a long chat with a 'new consultant' yesterday and she told me that every time to drink alcohol or step way over the carbs, the body needs 3 days before fat burning starts again. 3 good days on the plan that do not do anything except reset your body. I made the decision to wait with my wine til I lost the last stubborn 4 pounds. Remember, we have come this far why do we want to go back to our old habits. This is our time, our decisions to make a change in our lives. Have a great weekend, I am off to the water parks for 2 days. CC |
I was shopping this past weekend and I could not believe it when I tried on a pencil shirk in the J Crew store. Size 8 and it fit perfectly. In the beginning of my journey I would have not dreamed about going down in sizes. I was always focused on the scale and losing the pounds.
It felt great and I am newly motivated to lose the remaining couple of pounds (4) to start maintenance. It was a difficult journey for me, I never really had to diet in my life. Yes, maybe losing a few pounds before my wedding but that's about it. Being in my 50's, in menopause it made everything so much harder. I can be good for a whole week and do not see the wished result on the scale. It is paying off in the long run, if you hang in. I struggled for a couple of weeks, I eat out a lot and I had to find ways to incorporate all of this in my life. I was very frustrated that my husband because he did not want to join the healthier eating. Yes, he eats the meals I cook for the family but he snacks all evening long. Have a great week, cc |
