Went for my first "check in" today. I don't think I much care for the owner... waaay too perky for my taste, and is far too attached to the MRC products. Think I'll try to get a standing appointment with the young man I first saw. He seems much more down to earth.

She mentioned they have a new plan that is ZERO carbs for the first 2 weeks and wondered if I was interested. No thanks! I cherish the few carbs I'm currently allowed.

PS: Tried the Chicken Bouillon and a peanut bar today. Both pretty darn good.

Wurdnerd - haha! That is funny. Yes, find somebody that you like to work with!

Just checking in - this is my second day back on the old blue menu and it is going well, but I am definitely counting down the minutes (25.5) until my next HNS. Hopefully this will jump start my weight loss and get me set up again. I ordered samples of the Double Stuffed Cookie Syntrax powder and can't wait to try it. Even though it isn't on plan, I also ordered samples of the PB2 - powdered peanut butter that is supposedly 85% less fat calories. I love peanut butter. My son has a pb&j sandwich EVERY day for lunch and some days it is SOOOOO hard not to lick the knife :).

Everyone have a great day!!!

bigdog 09-09-2015 07:10 PM

Love the PB2 and Girl!! Mix that with the Syntrax Double Stuffed cookie and ice in a blender and you won't even miss dessert! It's hardly any calories and gives ya that PB fix.
The minimum requirement is 2 HNSs a day so just don't let them know you are supplementing with something else.
I buy the Protidiet Pink Lemonade in a larger container from Diet Direct - almost exactly like MRC HNSs. Syntrax is 100 cal a scoop but 23 G protein - 0 sugar and 0 carbs.

Vitacost has the best buy on Syntrax. I like Almased protein powder too if you happen to retain water- ESP good to drink day before weigh in :)
Will have to say I'm getting a lot of activity running back and forth to the bathroom! Lol

I'll have to read the Beck books too- I keep sabotaging myself. Pants were loose today so what did I do? Helped myself to the candy bowl at work. Then had a talk with myself. It went like this......Do you know WHY your pants were loose this am? Because YOU HAVE STRETCHED them to their limit with your Fat A$$!!
Crazy isn't it?

selway 09-10-2015 12:49 PM

bigdog - OOOOO! Glad to hear that you like the PB2. Dumb question, but do you mix your Syntrax with water, or milk, or other? Right now my morning "HNS" is my Vanilla Bean Torte mixed with my coffee. I know I am supposed to be drinking decaf on MRC, but I'm not. I am not officially a client (not currently registered for any programs), I just kept my old menus and am doing it myself. I buy from Diet Direct often and sometimes Amazon. I agree that the ProtiDiet drinks/powders must be made by the same manufacturer - they are very similar. I actually like the ProtiDiet ones better now though. I went into a center that just opened in my town and bought a few boxes of HNS and think they have changed the formulation. But it has been a long time since I had theirs, so maybe I am just remembering wrong....

I keep getting my menus mixed up. I am on the old yellow menu (yesterday I called it the blue menu). I switch to the blue on Saturday. It's working for me, but I am hungry. Counting down the minutes until lunch....

llarends - how is your week going? How is the extra protein working?

wurdnerd - ZERO carbs?! Wow. No vegetables even? Wow. Did you choose a program and did you decide on supplements? You certainly don't have to answer that if it is being too nosy. I am just curious.

Everyone have a great day!

bigdog 09-10-2015 06:27 PM

I mix it with water and ice. Sometimes add unsweetened Hershey's mix in too :)
If you have the Vanilla bean torte- mix with Diet Orange soda and ice in a blender- Dreamcicle Heaven!

wurdnerd 09-10-2015 10:37 PM

As soon as I heard zero carbs, I stopped listening. Not sure what the program allows, but I'm certain it's way too strict for me.

I was assigned the Metabolic More level 1 plan. I think its relatively new, and that's what everyone in my menu class received. I get 1 carb choice (fruit or starch) with each meal... plus the usual protein and veg. Proteins are all grouped together, so there's no restrictions on type. I plan on probing more to find out what else is available, just cause I like to shop. ;-)

The only supplement I take is the glucose formula, and I'm trying to use up a bottle of Relacore I had on hand. Considering the MRC6 since it apparently works miracles.

I've totally got to get some Syntrax. It sounds yummy.

wurdnerd 09-11-2015 02:32 PM

Weigh in day. I'm down a total of 6 lbs by their scale, but I follow my own at home. Chatted with yet another overly perky counselor... what kind of cult Kool-Aid do these women drink?

I asked about the different levels of the Metabolic More plan, and was told when I hit 200 the protein portions will be reduced. Nothing else increases to make up the difference, so it's by default a lower-calorie plan... right? Well, she tried to argue that only the protein decreases not the calories. I'm no math whiz but, geez.

llarends 09-11-2015 02:40 PM

Wurdnerd, I'm on the same plan that you are on. Let me know if you start the MRC6 and if it works.

Selway, I lost 4 lbs last week. I weigh in tomorrow and think I will only be down one pound despite staying on plan and walking 4 miles each day this week. Sometimes my body does that so hopefully it will show on the scale next week.

I am hosting a family get together Saturday night and am hoping to stay with club soda, but depending how it goes, I might need some alcohol. :-)

If your family is anything like mine, alcohol will be required. :dizzy:

Bought a tub of Isopure whey protein today. Just plain, unflavored pure whey. I combined 1 scoop with 1 packet of MRC cocoa, then used 1/2 of the resulting mixture to make a drink. What you get is a very mild cocoa with slightly more protein, 1/2 the carbs and 1/2 fat of a straight MRC drink, plus the "creamy" is now basically a "clear" if you choose.

The Isopure was about $50 for 47 full (26g) servings, although I'm using slightly less since I don't need 26g of protein per scoop. Cost is less than $1 per serving. Plus it reduces your MRC product to 1/2 the cost per serving.

Will let you know if it works well with other products. I'm sure it will with the creamy, not so sure about the clear.

wurdnerd and llarends - WOW! Nice job on your numbers for your last weigh in. Those are awesome! Llarends - have a good time with your family. I have an interesting family too and can relate to your post!

I am hanging in there. I do actually like the yellow and blue menus - even though they are pretty restrictive. It makes meal planning (at least for what I am going to eat) easy. I transition to the old Meta Slim plan on Friday - just in time for camping. I went a little crazy last camping trip (s'mores, hot dogs, bean dip, etc.) so I am trying to plan better this time.

I just finished Bob Harper's book about the Skinny Rules and am now reading a book by the Beck Diet people - the Diet Trap Solution. I am not far enough in it to know if I should have bought one of the other books first, but it looks like it applies to me! (fixing thinking and not just counting calories/following a menu).

It is a beautiful day here and I am headed to the park with my little one (well, little to me. She's 5.). Everyone have a great day!!!!!

bigdog 09-13-2015 07:50 PM

Hello everyone!! I'm on vacation in Florida - till Sunday camping :). Bought lots of salad and protein. Off the plan but sticking to high protein, lots of veggies, low carbs (triscuits)...... I am drinking some margaritas. But they are low 30 cal per serving mix (Fat and Juicy brand). We are swimming, multi walks with the 3 dogs, bike rides so hope to at least not gain. Small portions, lots of water.
When I get back home- Plans are to join the Life Fit Center at the local hospital and start lifting weights again. Membership includes a personal life coach that will set up an exercise routine and also a session with a nutritionist. I am not motivated at all and the counselor at MRC makes no suggestions re food or exercise- just tries to push the pills - magic 3. I do love the MRC diet plan and did learn I need more protein and less carbs.
My friend just lost 50 lbs on weight watchers - not sure if they changed their program but anyway- this center is $50 a month- no contract so I'm going to give it a whirl! :)

Good news is that I'm fitting in my shorts ( not as tight) but not liking the photos of me at the beach :(

wurdnerd 09-14-2015 07:38 AM

I hit the wall last night when the thought of eating another bite of "protein" in any form just made me ill. I rebelled and had a frozen meal of Amy's Vegetable Korma (rice, dal, veggies) and it was heaven. I did compromise and fed half the rice to hubby, so it wasn't a total wipe.

I was mostly vegetarian prior to starting this plan. Guess I'll ask for their vegetarian plan, although I fear it will be mostly soy and other frankenfoods in the protein list.

selway 09-14-2015 01:37 PM

Good morning! Monday weigh in for me (at home). I lost 17 pounds last week. Probably all water weight due to the off plan eating the week before. I gain drastically if I eat carbs - or gluten - I'm not sure which one actually. So, most of my splurge weight is gone and I am almost back to my pre-binge weight. I am still following the MRC plan, I'm on the blue menu this week, but am incorporating the mental part of the Beck Diet Solution (fixing my self sabotage issues, etc.). I think the combination will be good for me!

Wurdnerd - I didn't know MRC had a vegetarian plan. Maybe yogurt, cottage cheese, and eggs are included?

Bigdog - happy camping!

llarends - how did the family event go?

llarends 09-14-2015 04:24 PM

Selway, Congrats!

Family event went pretty well. I did break down and have two drinks (one beer and one vodka with fresh raspberries and lemonade). As far as food, I did pretty good sticking to plan. Still pretty stressful having around 40 people over.

Bigdog, Congrats on fitting into your shorts better. I tried on a pair of jeans I couldn't get up over my hips two weeks ago and I got them on and zipped Saturday before my weigh in. Still a little snug, but hoping to be able to wear them in two weeks when I go to Chicago for a conference.
