MRC March 2012 Thread
May the luck 'o the scales be with you this month.
:luck2you: :luck2you: :luck2you: |
Broke the Plateau!!!!
Lost 3 pounds and am at 167.3!!!!!!! :dancer::dancer::dancer: 3 pounds!!!! before getting on the scale this am, i was praying, please, please, please let me see 169, i've been good, i've been on plan, i've been exercising, PLEASE!!! and surprise, surprise it registered 167.3!!!!!! i even got on the scales twice because i didn't believe it!!!!!
i've been eating more veggies and salads and it worked! sometimes when i get busy, i'll get the protein in but have been neglecting the veggies for lunch alot of times - usually do have a salad w/ lean protein for dinner... OH, Happy Day!!!! i woke up my DH to tell him and told him i have to go tell my virtual protein buddies!!! because you guys keep me focused and motivated! YAY! |
One day at a time, one pound at a time but we can all do it. it all adds up! (heard that on tv the other day on some fitness show)
|
Bigdog that is awesome! very congratulations!!
I had to do my hormone test today, wake up and drool in a tube, so no time for breakfast. Ended up putting my greek yogurt in my frappe maker with a half cup of mixed berries and my mixed berry HNS and some ice, and off we go to work...where someone brought fresh bread for the meeting this morning. I think I am getting paranoid but I swear that my job is trying to make this more difficult. Party last week, then popcorn last Friday, yesterday they made a big breakfast and now this. Eyes on the prize though, I woke up and went to get dressed and my bra is too big around. Fingers crossed, I have not looked at a scale this morning but I may go weigh in tonight. |

Way to go Bigdog! That's awesome. :bravo: :woohoo:

Galadreal - good luck with the weigh in. Clothes that are too large is definately a good sign.

Thanks, I really can't judge by my pants and shirts (baggy t-shirts) I only have the one pair of jeans that i wear every day and they get looser as the week goes by...I refuse to buy more pants in a size 18! |
BigDog - Congratulations! Excited for you!
Galadreal - Congratulations! Baggy clothes are a great sign! You're right - eyes on the prize. I work around a TON of take-out and donuts... I'm the only lady and the guys here LOVE their sweets and fried foods! Camaswa - I tried to post on the February thread, but it was closed... but I wanted to tell you that I hear you about the sizes. You're right about jeans being a nightmare to fit! I try to only buy a few pairs in each size and then their in great condition when I move down. But, they fit soooo differently! I agree about the bootcut jeans and the "curvy" fit. I went to Maurices recently for their jean sale. Found some size 12s that fit, in the curvy... but the skinny fit? Forgedddaabboutit. I looked like a stuffed sausage... muffin top and all and I wanted to cry also... but, you know what? I looked at the triumphs I have had the past few months... I no longer have to travel to the plus size area to shop, I am so much more outgoing and happy, my kids were bragging to their friends about all the activities I get to do with them, my girls seem to have more confidence about their bodies (I'm working on the positive self-talk)... these aren't measured by a number on a scale... or in the back of your jeans... they are who you are and what you are becomming on this journey... and THAT'S pretty great! I want to do some pretty summer and spring clothes once I reach my goal weight, but I'm scared to buy too much! |
BigDog...
So happy for you... It is a wonderful feeling when you hit it as it feels so good. Patzi |
Just weighed in, TTOM is supposed to start tomorrow, and I still lost a pound! Totally shocked!!!!! :woohoo:

Jen & Bigdog...you guys are awesome. So happy for you, you are both sooooo close. Stay focused. Stay OP. Stay awesome:) Big smile on my face for you.
re: the jeans discussion...I hadn't thought of Maurices...they do have a large selection of lots of brands of jeans at different prices. I never have luck finding GAP jeans, but I'm borrowing a bunch of my friends clothes and her GAP jeans and dress pants fit me awesome. But I go in to try and find my own and I can't find any. I need a shopping assistant. I'm short but petites don't work, only "shorts", there's a difference...so I end up getting lots altered. I still need khaki's, dress pants, and some nice capris once it gets warm. Holding at 155. TTOM started today so over the next week is when I tend to drop weight. Hoping 2-3 more weeks and I'll hit goal. But I do feel good here...and yesterday I was just ready to EAT (and eat and eat). I didn't, besides an extra turkey meatloaf muffin. Has anyone made Kale chips? I think I'm going to try them tonight... |
Ugh the saliva test. That was nasty! I was tempted to let my dogs drool in it just to see what it would register. Lol. Especially my big boy GSD. They would have been like...wow u have a lot of testerone! Haha. Of course they told me I needed tons of supplements and hormone creams. I told them I would discuss w my doc and I couldnt take pills. She looked at it and said it was normalq
|
Thanks guys! Now I have to keep it in the 160s! I've gotten here before 3 years ago and gained it back and more but this time I'm keeping it off
I told my sister who is doing WW and who has lost 40 lbs that we have to keep each other from regaining. We seem to do this over and over. We email each other what we have lost every couple weeks. She lives a few states away... Good luck everyone |
Woot
Congrats big dog and Jen! Galadriel - I know how you feel I refuse to go to a plus store so I am still in maternity clothes - baby is 4 months old! And honestly I wore them for over a year after my son was born!
I am down another 2 pounds. So in the 16 days since I started I have lost 13 lbs and 11 inches! Plus I survived my first plateau which is where I usually quit! Ok - when do they do the hormone test! It sounds disgusting. I don't handle spit well. Kate |

I'm with you, Gina... petites don't work for me but "shorts" do! Crazy, but almost all the petites I try are either waaayyyy too tight in the hips or thighs or are too short!
Katydid - Congratulations! Hope everyone has an awesome Friday... Last night, I got out my "Before" and "After" pictures because my Zumba instructor wanted to see them. I was shocked! I guess I know I look a bit different, but to see it in pictures seems to be a whole other story... It's kind of disconcerting because I really didn't think I was "big" before MRC. But to see the difference in my face, stomach and arms is crazy... Makes me realize how much of the whole weight thing is truly a mental environment... |
Happy Friday, everyone! I'm so excited! Tonight's my stabilization party!!! Thought I'd never see the day. :cloud9: :cloud9: :cloud9: :cloud9: :cloud9: :cloud9: :cloud9:

Just left the center for my first March WI. I lost 3.5 pounds and am now under 300. I was so happy that I cried on the way back to work. |
another pound lost!!!! 166.7 i was scared to get on the scale this am because i had left over tacos last night and i was thinking maybe it was a dream i had that i'm finally losing weight again and was scared i'd be back up to 170..
i've cut out the extras and really paying attention to portion size. my taco was mostly veggies! i piled the shredded lettuce, grape tomatoes, salsa on the plate, then 4 oz taco lean meat w/ one hard shell crumbled on top. one of my fave meals! my DH of course eats 4-5 tacos MEN! had a huge salad w/ grilled flank steak on top for lunch. the difference is i'm actually eating more and losing again. the extra veggies are really helping. guess they are speeding up my metabolism so i'm losing again i had gotten into a bad habit of skipping meals and just grabbing a HNS or replacement meal shake or protein bar and not getting my veggies in. like Jen and Patzi have always said, if you follow the plan, it actually works! YAY!!!! |

Way to go Jen!!! now that is a party worth going to!!! :bravo:

Jeans update!
So I needed cat litter before leaving town for Berkeley and went to a local Target-like store. Some Levi boot cuts caught my eye and I grabbed a 10 and 12 Long without trying on. The 10s will have to go back, but the 12s were perfect. they stretched but didn't bag out on the plane. I'm writing from a cafe near campus, watching all the college girls in their leggings and skinny jeans. Who would have thought that boot cut is the new "mom jean." but hey, I'm seeing my share of muffin tops too. Makes me feel sad, really. I want to tell them, get it off while you are young! It's so much harder when you're an adult! (Plus your self esteem will thank you!). Oh well. My own girl is tiny and loves to run. Plus she can't eat gluten so naturally keeps the carbs on the low side. She's beautiful, of course!
I was running late and left all my HNSs on the counter- crap. Will just have to make the best choices I can. I have been bouncing around 166 about as long as Bigdog did with 170. Knowing you finally broke through is inspiring! |
camaswa-Woo hoo for finding some jeans...I love how levi boot cuts fit...and since they stretched without bagging...awesome jeans. Enjoy the time with your daughter.
Trying to stay absolutely OP the next 3 days and see what happens with the scale. I think I had upped my exercise a little too much for what I've been eating because my appetite has been unstoppable. I used to be able to say I felt "satisfied, not full" when I was OP, the past week I've felt mostly on the "always hungry" side. Partly TTOM, partly a lot of exercise...maybe some boredom on some days. I'd been taking bites of silly things I don't even like...so focus, focus, focus. It ends up I'm going with MIL to a women's conference this weekend, which means the meals are provided. I did contact the coordinator (a friend of mine) to see what the food would be to see what I should pack. I think there will be some healthy options but I also need to pack some and be ready to avert my eyes from the cookies. |
I had maintenance weigh in and stayed the same.. I am still 5 pounds under goal.. I am so delighted with this, as my scale after races said I was up 3 pounds. I ate out 4 days in a row, not badly, they were good choices, but I know the salt was there, as I still can't get my rings off.. What I did was the following..
Day after races, I went on shake with HNS mixed in for breakfast and lunch, regular meal at night. Second day, did the bar and HNS lunch and breakfast, regular meal at night and then stayed on green menu, and thank goodness it worked... Not easy not eating all those snacks everyone brought with them and all those tropical drinks.. Oh, well, such is life, I guess...I am glad now. Congrats to all the losers. Be proud of yourself. Patzi |
Yay for the bootcut jeans! And, you're right... I've seen alot of 20-somethings and some teens with the muffin top! Yikes... I'm like you... it's sad. I remember being a size 9/10 in high school and thinking I was so huge! What I would give to go back and tell that teenager to hang on to your health and value your body and appreciate where you are, no matter the size...
Congrats, BigDog! You're on a roll! Baby Doll - Congrats on the weight loss! So happy for you! I remember crying as I left the center with those happy tears! Go, you! |

Just had to share this. Told a co-worker about my stabilization party tonight. She wanted to celebrate my achievement...
With A Cake! :hb: Yes! A Cake! Really?! :dunno: |
Seriously?
A cake?!? Come on!
|
She was completely serious and didn't understand my disbelief. Then again, she's told me for years she wanted to lose weight. Uh, hello?! This is part of your problem. She's asked me about MRC many times, but she's not serious about wanting to lose weight. Says she loves food too much. :dizzy:
|
Maybe she meant steak;) Yup, lots of people ask what I've been doing but few are willing to actually change their life. I've been making a list of things I need to do to maintain...like keeping salads and veggie soups and veggie dishes a big part of my life...having just a few different rotating breakfast and lunch options...and my favorite, exercise!
|
I am a huge fan of boot cut jeans. I bought my first pair about 2 years ago and am kind of bummed that they are too big now. I will definately be getting more of those.
Jen I hope you have a wonderful time at your stabilization party. Celebrate with a nice crispy salad and STEAK instead of cake. That's pretty funny! I went to WI today during my lunch break and was down 3.5 which let me sign the 60 pound board. :D So I was only 2 days short of signing in February. I have really been focused and it has paid off. My new goal is to focus the entire month of March to reach my MRC goal by the end of the month. MRC goal is 185 while my personal goal is 180. I am hoping that with continued exercise I will loss a little while on stabilization. Once I get a little closer to the 185 I may decide that I'm happy there. I feel so much better now then I did just a few months ago. And the funny thing is I never knew that I felt that "bad" a few months ago. |

Okay... That's scary. And sad... and confusing. Some people just don't get it. I can't say much... last week I told my mom we should grab a salad or something for lunch. She said that she wanted cashew chicken and couldn't I just go off it for a bit? Seriously? BigDog - Oh dear! Sad about the guy calling you a name. I think it's so important to stress to our children how hurtful those things are... everyone remembers those hurtful, mean names and sayings LOOOONNNNGGG into adulthood. |
I was told today the Super Chocolate Drink mix we make the brownies with has been discontinued.
Patzi |
congratulations Ynapier!!!
sounds like everyone is refocusing - myself included :-) Gina, definitely having the right foods on hand is the key to success. when i have a big bowl of salad and veggies already cut up or put in ziplock bags, it's easier for me to stay on plan when it's available. keeps me from grabbing "bad" choices. i'm thinking of a job change and waiting for a "sign" to make the move. Off topic but on my mind big time!!!! Should i stay or should i go?...(isn't that a song?) :-) |
So here's how the day at the conference (food wise) went down. The breakfast was supposed to be casseroles, muffins, etc. So there COULD have been a perfect egg casserole I could have eaten, but you never know. I asked DH if he thought I should just go late and have breakfast at home or chance it...he said eat at home, know what you're eating. That was perfect advice. Got there just as they finished eating. Then lunch was a box lunch from Panera...complete with a huge turkey sandwich in which the bread along was probably 200-300 calories, a bag of chips, a cookie as big as my head, and an apple. Gave away the chips right away, threw the cookie in my bag to give to DH, put all of the turkey and spinach on just part of the bread (I'll skip my bread at supper and I skipped my dairy I was supposed to have at breakfast), ate a bunch of cherry tomatoes I brought with me, and the apple. So as best as I could be I was on plan. Now just for a big salad with chicken for supper. And to think in the past I would have eaten the whole sandwich and chips and cookie...and probably still would have snacked on chocolate! Eating with that way of thinking...decreasing the bread, not having chips or cookie, is something I can do.
I think I am read to switch to stabilization. I've done a lot of thinking about it and I really like my weight right here. Now if I lose some on stabilization, great. But right here I really am happy with where I am. Not just because I'm frustrated, I've actually been losing again. But because I'm ready. I'll talk to my consultant Monday and see. Since I'm an at home client I'm not exactly sure how it will work, I think she'll be sending me the plan and talking me through it. |
