do you guys have problems with the 3 fat chicks page freezing? i had to hit recover like 3 times...happens alot - let me know if there's something i can do on my end. i've rebooted and cleared my cookies. i was ready to smack my DH last night eating toffee popcorn on the couch last night - i told him to move away from me! LOL! i'm off today and he's working so what was i doing this am...looking for the choc. covered pretzels and toffee popcorn..looked up and he'd put it on the top of the cabinets where i can't see it or reach it! he listened to me last night when i told him i'm offically back on plan. :-) this is a first w/ all the years he's put up w/ me "on a diet" going off, going on. i think he likes a "happier" me...and he doesn't have to wait as long for me to get ready. surprise surprise most everything fits! so i'm not trying spending alot of time squeezing into stuff!
doing mediquick today and drinking tons of water! do you guys eat veggies when you're doing mediquick? i'm doing 4 HNSs (clear) and one protein bar and one meal replacement shake. planning on having salad w/ lean beef tonight... since they took off All My Children, they've added another cooking show...grits butter, souffles - ok i'm out of here to run some errands! planning on heading to the beach (15 min away) for NY day to see the Polar bear plunge - it's a huge event where these crazy fools jump in the ocean on NY day! it's in the 60s here and feels cold compared to FL.. did want to mention we bought a veggie tray to take camping and it was great! took it w/ us when we went 4 wheeling on the beach w/ some garlic melba toast and rosemary triscuits (for DH) the man loves my cottage cheese so now i buy 2 containers each week Jen - so sorry to hear about your cat...i have a 16 yr old shepherd/lab that we have to lift in bed but she's doing pretty good otherwise - rescued her at 4 wks old - covered w/ ticks and fleas! our little butterball. our first GSD passed away a yr and a half ago at 15 - everyone is different but we immediately went out and got another GSD puppy - it really helped us w/ our loss. there are so many dogs and cats that need good homes. our middle child is 6 years old and a rescue from the pound at 4 mths. i can't even drive by the pound or look in the paper because i really want to adopt them all!!!! we have three now and that's all we can handle (especially camping!) i'll be walking the dogs and people will point at the 16 yr. old and say is that an old dog? it's like no, she just gets pissed off when people call her old. anyway, very sorry for your loss... these 3 are our children so know how you feel.... |

So, I got back on plan yesterday. Just taking it a day at a time and I'll be back in the habit before you know it. |
Ok. I have been researching MRC and reading your posts on here. I have finally decided to go for a consultation tomorrow! I have gained so much weight over the last 2 years because of a nasty divorce and other job related stresses. I'm hoping this will be a start to a great new year and a new me! If you have any recommendations or information that would be helpful I am all ears! I can't wait for tomorrow evening!

Katiemom,
I would say, know what you are getting into and make sure you are ready. If you follow it closely, MRC really is an effective way to lose weight fairly quickly, although the centers can be hard-sell on all their supplements which a number of us dont like. In addition, the knowledge and professionalism seems to vary a lot from center to center as well as consultant to consultant. My real motivation and support comes from these boards, not from going in to see them. That said, i possibly wouldnt stick with it if I didnt have to face their scales every week. If you have been reading, you can already see that there are a lot of great people here who have lost a lot of weight and are really helpful resources for whatever you are going through. We will be looking forward to hearing back from you! Good luck! |

Hey Camaswa - for the first time ever in my entire life, i threw away chocolate (chocolate covered peanuts) that were in my car (gift) if you can throw away a box of really good candy i can throw away these choc. covered peanuts. they were milk choc. and i prefer dark choc. i was running errands, ate a couple and when making a deposit at the ATM, i stuffed the bag in the little trash can for envelopes - i had to manipulate the bag to get them in the slot trash bin. HA HA! some of the other food gifts i got, i regifted and gave them away. i did keep the wine i received :-) (i'm not completely crazy) and i can have one fruit a day, right? :beach: |
Post-Christmas scale shock
Ok, I know I said all that stuff about facing the scale, no matter what it said, and then getting right back on the bus. But I didnt go in to the center today. My scales said I'm up 2.8 pounds (since Dec. 23!) and i just dont feel like driving 30 minutes to have to weigh on theirs and have to talk about it.
Am i sticking my head in the sand? I dont know. I did eat totally off plan for the past three days, with plenty of starches and sweets, so what did I expect? I am technically back on program today, but i feel sort of unmotivated. Seeing the scale go down motivates me to stay on, and seeing it go the other way does the opposite, I guess. This has been my first actual gain on the program. I do know that when you eat lots of carbs after not having many for so long, its very common to see a gain, and it does not mean I have actually put on 2.8 pounds of fat. In fact, that would be impossible in 3 days. So its time to man up. Earlier I had not felt tempted by all the holiday treats, but something sure snapped in me on Christmas Eve and Day. Then yesterday I made a lame attempt at getting back on track - lame because we went after-Christmas shopping and found the famous Williams-Sonoma peppermint bark 50% off. It was so dumb to buy it. Sigh. Today I have had meal replacement shakes for breakfast and lunch plus HNSs, dinner will be a pork chop and lots of salad. I've also exercised and am drinking a good amount of water. It could be worse, right? :) |

I weighed in for maintenance today and gained one pound. I was up over 2 pounds day after holiday so some came off, but will stay on green menu till next Tuesday, as there is NY Eve.. I am 5 pounds under goal, is what I believe they said. I had a shake day after Christmas and fish last night, and today have been sensible and OP. Good old green menu. Wishing everyone a great evening. Patzi |

But I'm home and ready to be back on track...except that tomorrow the in laws are having a birthday celebration for my two brothers in law...I'm planning on having mahi mahi and green beans before going, then hoping there's some good fruit and other veggies at the party. Time to start planning good, creative OP meals to kick the last 17 lbs! My goal is to do it by March 1.
|
I'm back to my pre-Christmas weight...and down .6 lbs from there (maybe a bit more, I know I exercised to see 167, most days more like 168, this morning 166.4.). Sa-weet. I started using MFP while i was gone and really like it (even better than sparkpeople). My sister also got me a fitbook, which I'll use once I hit maintenance. If you haven't seen it, it's a pen and paper way to set goals, track food & exercise, etc. It's basically like a little notebook that I was keeping, but everything is laid out for you. She got it for me for doing so well with MRC.
OH...and when we went shopping I bought 12's...I've always been a 16, XL girl (up to an 18). ALWAYS, even in junior high. When I was trying to decide if I should do MRC my consultant talked about how she ever wanted was to be a 12 (I started to cry, since I that's what I wanted) and she actually was an 8 at this point. I don't know where I will feel comfortable, but I was super excited. And even fit into some size medium tops (got a nice fleece jacket from my sister in medium...unbelievable). When my dad saw me he said I didn't even look like the same person (to me I do, I see a little change, but not huge). I did spend part of Christmas Eve in the ER. I'd been having chest pain for over 24 hours that hurt worse when I laid down or took a deep breath. I kept thinking "I'm fine", but it was starting to scare me. So my fam talked me into seeing a doctor at urgent care...and they sent me to the hospital (I wouldn't have agreed to go to the hospital initially). After an EKG, blood tests, an xray and CT scan they decided it was nothing that was going to kill me and sent me home. It lasted another day and then was gone. bigdog-sometimes the site freezes up, and I just click on my menu bar to reload and then it comes up. |
Hi all, I enjoy reading your posts and can see that I will be able to learn so much from you. I went for my free consultation yesterday and am pretty sure I'm going to join tomorrow. I would appreciate any advice and ALL the help and support I can get. Thanks.
|
I am also having issues locking up on this site and I have to close
my browser as it is completely non-responsive. I've tried 2 diffent pcs and 3 diffent browsers. it only seems to work on my iPhone which is kind of annoying. I made a few choices over Christmas that were not on plan but I still drank my water and my HNS and watched my portions and I was down 1 lb for the week :) |
Sorry I didn't get back to you guys yesterday....I was surprised to find at the center I was only up 1/2 lbs. And when I went home yesterday my scale was only off the centers scale by 3 oz. I can only think this anomly was due to stomach issues. Anyway...the drama from Christmas is laughable now, but my sister still refuses to talk to me after the way "I" treated her husband. So I guess in this new year my closest allies will be 45 minutes away in Northwest Arkansas. Oh well! Finally looked at Diet Direct and have started to put an order together. I'm thinking you guys were right the ProtiDiet stuff is the same as MRC's HNS!!!! Kinda wondering about Syntrax Nectar...which one to get first cause DH say's I can only order one this time. And I want three...Chocolate Truffle, Strawberry Kiwi, and Fuzzy Navel. Would just go with the chocoalte but I'm kinda afraid that it would constitute as a creamy so I could only have it once a day. Im looking for something in the Syntrax Nectar that I can have multiple times a day. Any suggestions??? Or good news telling me the chocolate isn't a creamy??!!! :D
I've been having issues with the forums too...I read a thread on the forum homepage saying just hit no three times and it'll stop. Well that worked a couple of times and now my home computer is the only place I can get on the forum boards. I can't use it at work at all because the stupid message keeps popping up and wants you to click it!!! AAARRGGGGHHHH!!!! I still haven't tried it on my phone though...I guess that's the next step to try getting it at work. And good job ladies!!! Even though many of us indulged in Christmas we realized it, went back on plan, and exercised like mad women. Which resulted in small gains. BUT! Just remember with the New Year comes not only new willpower, but a new you too! ************************************************** **************Okay guys!!!! Diet Direct has free shipping on orders over $49 today and coupon codes of $10 off your order of $59!!! So I paid a dollar and got another box of drinks free!! Super excited I got the big Chocolate Truffle Syntrax Nectar and Grab n Go Variety Pack of the Syntrax Nectar and then my free box of kiwi melon protidiet drink mix....can't wait for it to come in so I can try them!!!! Go check it out! |
I can't remember who is a Dave Ramsey fan...but we paid off our last debt (besides the house) today. It was an intense year...but soooo happy. Honestly, it feels even better than losing the weight:)
|
did medi quick yesterday and treated my husband to his fave Japanese buffet restaurant last night because he took me to FL for Christmas! :-) and he also took the goodies and put them on a high shelf that i can't reach. dang, why didnt i get a step stool for Christmas? LOL had the veggie dishes, hot and sour soup and some sushi. wore my spandex tight jeans so seriously i get uncomfortable if i try to eat too much. was down 2 lbs this am! so i am now honestly 173 like my ticker says. doing mediquick again today -i'm still on vacation and don't feel like cooking so this works for me.
Cassie - excellent choice! the Chocolate Truffle is the best. i like the Roadside Lemonade too. it does count as a clear HNS...just use 3/4 of the scoop to equal the 70 cal. the bonus is that's it's 23 g. protein instead of 16g. like the protidiet or MRC brand. i found some Nutrisystem protein bars at Big Lots the other day...10 g. protein, 190 cal. for $1/bar. they had Luna bars for .70/bar and they are 12 g. protein, 170 cal. i had ran out before vacation so bought some of those they are really good for the Meta quick days... supposed to be off today but am "working" i'm in sales so can't ignore my customers that want to buy ads.. YAY! (which is why i go camping - only way i can "shut off") but the dang campgrounds all have WIFI! but the only place i don't take my blackberry is the beach - salt water doesn't mix well w/ it. :-) Cassie, i'm sure her husband deserved what ever you said to him. haha! tell your sister to get over it. awhile ago, i actually got kicked out of my sister's house by her husband -LOL! at a Xmas party...my oldest sister actually started the whole ordeal (but i do have to thank my sister for getting me hooked up w/ MRC...she took these horrible "fat" pictures of me side and back view!!! and sent them to all of my family including aunts, uncles, cousins) in June. and she wonders why i won't be her friend on FB..HAH! Way to go, Gina! i threw on some jeans this am to walk the dogs in and was like wow, they fit!! i was like sashaying in front of the mirror like look at me, look at me. did my happy dance! :dancer: |
Gina - so great that you are in a 12 and that your family sees a difference! Your weight is doing super, too.
Sounds like a lot of us are up a little but are getting back on track. I myself came down a full pound from yesterday. This is why facing the scales is important for me. if i had not made myself weigh yesterday, no doubt i would have spent yet another day nibbling the edges of all the goodies still in the house. I was upset at the gain (2.8) and did a meta-quick day, really focusing on the water. My sister-in-law's gift box came late. ugh, nothing worse than a giant box of cookies, cranberry bread and coffee cake arriving AFTER Christmas. I would like nothing more than to just pitch it all out. But it's from his sister, so i really cant. i stuck them in the pantry where i bet he will forget all about them. Today is it pouring rain out here in the great northwest. I'm suiting up and walking anyway. Fresh air makes up for the wet. |
NWCGina...Congratulations!!!! Are you going to call the show and shout about being Debt Free??? My husband and I have this plan that once everything and I mean all of it paid off (house, student loans, credit cards) we're going to Tennessee and meeting Dave to tell him in person how much he has not only saved our marriage, but our lives. Again Congratulations on your hard work!!!
BigDog...thanks...my sister and I go through this phase of on again off again. We're really great friends when we're on, but for some reason she gets these wild hairs up her bottom and for like a year she'll just be impossible to deal with. Her husband isn't helping matters at all. The entire family absolutely loathes him and has been told to stay at home whenever we have family functions because he's always griping he doesn't want to go and she makes him. He's a self diagnosed agoraphobic. I just think he's a hypocondriac and a control freak. Oh well...it'll be hard not seeing my niece and nephew, but it's her loss if she wants to choose him over me. Anyway...done with the pity party rant...sooooooooo excited to get my stuff and excited that I can have the chocolate truffle more than once a day!!! YAY!!! :carrot: I will have to look into the protein bars, I was afraid to get some that weren't MRC, but with a guideline of what to look for it should be okay. I'll just have to remember not to eat them like candy bars. |
OMG! I just saw "my" commerical on tv! I was told they are actually running it on two different stations here. So bizarre to see yourself on tv.
Hope everyone is doing great! I weighed in last night since my car wouldn't start yesterday morning. So weight was completely off but, oh well. That just means I'll have a super good weigh in on Friday. :newyear: |
cassie-thought about going to TN...it would be awesome, I just have to find someone to work for me:)...I'm going to write a blog entry about our journey and I'll be sure to send the link. It definitely has made our marriage stronger...we've been at it for 8 1/2 years, intense for the past 4 years, but the past year is when murphy finally quit hitting us in the face enough to make huge traction!
camaswa...I know what you mean by late treats. Brother in law and girlfriend who are amazing cooks just gave us a box of homemade goodies like truffles (real ones), peanut brittle, cookie bars, bark stuff...oy! I made my husband keep at his desk at work...I did get a bite of the bark first. We still have Halloween candy lying around. I'm contemplating joining a walking contest for the first 3 months of the year. My friend has hosted weight loss contests before that I joined and lost...but was always active. Now she's having one where we compete to get the most # of steps in 3 months. It's $25 to get in, prize money is up to $350. I have no doubt I could win it, I love being active. But I've been less active with the restrictive MRC and don't want to mess that up. But if I focus on WALKING...I have to decide by Saturday. I'm wearing my pedometer the next few days to get in 10-12K steps and see how I feel...if I'm too hungry, don't have enough energy, etc. I don't really need the motivation, but the prize money would be nice to buy new clothes...and to support my friend. |

Cassie - the Bariwise and Protidiet protein bars are supposed to be the same as what MRC sells...i keep them in the car and out of reach. i'm outside sales so they are great when i'm on the road and can't eat a healthy lunch...keeps me from fast food. but i do have to keep them out of sight and limit to no more than 3 a week... but if i'm on vacation, i do have one a day and actually maintain and sometimes lose when i have all the water and HNSs for the day |

I like the spaghetti squash as a pumpkin substitute to make an MRC pumpkin pie. My mom made it for Christmas and it was delightful...I put it on my meal plan for next week for one of my meals...it will feel like I'm cheating but totally not:)

I just want to say, Teacherlady79, you look great! Your avatar is very motivating.

Was just thinking this...as hard as the past month has been with all kinds of temptations, the next month will be great with lots of people (and stores) striving for health. Healthy foods will be on sale, workout gear, workout clothes...excited for that to be the cultural focus, even if it is fleeting.

Hi ladies...
Well, as you may recall, I gained my first 2 lbs a couple of weeks ago, then went to Las Vegas...etc..I maintained that 2 lb for 2 whole weeks, then yesterday went for my after Christmas WI and was down 3 lbs!!!!!!!!!! I was just stunned, but soo happy!!! :carrot: I will begin Stabilization next week :) Keep up the great work ladies...today is a new day!! |

I agree with the philosophy about not beating yourself up for a little bit of weight gain around the holidays. It's happened to so many of us. Me included. I've just been taking things a day at a time. Some days are good. Some are not as good. I just have to keep trying every day until it sticks and I'm back into my OP habits again. So far, today is a good day. I weighed in this morning and I forgot my weigh in clothes. Oops. So, I'll just have a better weight loss next time. I'm not going to let it upset me.
For those of you struggling, don't lose hope. New Year's Day is just around the corner and for so many people, that's when the switch flips in our minds. Why else do so many people start the year off trying to lose weight? If all else fails, there's always next year. ;) I asked at the center today if there was a link somewhere to the commercial MRC has my before and after pics in. The consultant said she'd e-mail it to me. As soon as she does, I'll figure out some way to upload it. :newyear: |
Hi everyone! I've been MIA because the power supply to my laptop has gone beserk and the only way I cOuld get it on was to squeeze it tight and hold it. I finally did it long enough to get my passwords and excel docs (where I keep banking info) and email them to myself. So I'm either posting from my tablet or phone, which I don't like to do, so I probably won't be around too much.
I haven't weighed in in two weeks and I've gained 4 lbs in that time. As of today I have lost 3 of those 4 lbs so I'm back on track. I also starting working out last week (Insanity DVDs.) I'm coming down with a bad cold and it will be a struggle not to feed myself full of junk while in misery. |
Hey guys!!! Sorry I was MIA yesterday...got super busy shopping with a friend and then had to go to work. Of course, that script error crap keeps me from getting on at work. Anyways...happy day!!! My diet direct order came in...had Roadside Lemonade for breakfast....loved it!!! And trying to figure out how to make the chocolate truffle for lunch as shake like as I can get it...going to put some imitation coconut in it so it tastes like a mounds bar. So excited. Good news...I maintained instead of going up like I thought I would. Now if I can just get an exercise routine in place...I think I'd start losing the weight instead of plateauing everytime I have a lose. Hope everybodies days are going good...

Diet Direct Sale
i found some lower carb protein bars called Chocolite...cheaper than the box of 7 bars for $10.99, more protein and lower carb...
i got tired of those bars pushing up my carbs on my online tracker at MFP!! :-) Sale ends Jan-2. free shipping w/ $49 and you get $10 off if you spend $59 using Holly10 code. i ordered the Wonderslim Berry Yogurt shakes - they are sooooo good! and good w/ berries in the blender for lunch. hope everyone has a Happy New Year!! P.S. i'm thinking of what hot outfit i'm going to wear out on the town tomorrow to bring in the New Year! :-) |
Gina, Tami, everyone: whether you gained, lost or are maintaining, congrats to all of us for getting it back together after the holiday! There are a lot of lessons here, don't you think? Among them for me is the realization that it's not so much the chocolate truffles on Christmas Eve that do me in, it's having the rest of the box sitting around in plain sight for the next week!! Arggh! One more weekend to get through and as Gina said, I can look forward to the January purge. This year I won't be going into it with 5 pounds MORE to lose like I did last year.
I am on the coast for New Years weekend. Some friends are joining us tomorrow and will probably bring goodies and junk. Sigh. I have already announced I'm making fish tacos, so at least one of the dinners will not be a problem for me. I don't plan to even have that first tortilla chip. There aren't any scales over here but yesterday morning I was down 1.8 of the 2.8 I had gained at Christmas. Hopefully by the time I get back into the center, I will actually show a loss. I'm pleased so many people are checking in on the boards this week. I know it helped me refocus instead of overeating the entire time! Having Teacherlady's green beans tonight! |
