here's the recipe for others if you want to try it...i was reading that some people substituted almond flour for flax and some didnt use butter at all. guess we could use spray butter? Flax meal would be more fiber, i would think... 1-Minute Muffin 1/4 cup Flax Meal 1/2 teaspoon Baking Powder 1 packet Splenda 1 teaspoon Cinnamon 1 Egg 1-2 teaspoons Butter 1.5 Carbs Mix the dry ingredients in a large coffee cup. Add egg and butter; mix well. Microwave for 50-seconds to 1-minute. Muffin pops right out link to other low carb recipes... http://www.lowcarbfriends.com/bbs/lo...recipes-menus/ |
I will continue to look at the recipes on this board for ideas, too! I'm going to try some turkey meatloaf muffins from Jamie Eason's website (I'm sure there are similar meatloaf recipes either in MRC or the other). 2 "muffins" would replace a starch and the 4 oz of meat at either breakfast or supper. I think they'll be great for when I start into the busy basketball season and often don't have time to make a good supper (and used to rely on pizza...)

Thanks bigdog.. I know it's not on program, but yes, it is VERY low carb and the flax is good for digestion I believe (fiber). I just needed something more than my melba toasts, and that did the trick. I still lost this AM, so that's a good thing!

So, I had blood drawn two weeks ago and had the follow up appointment today. Basically, I need to lose weight. Duh..I knew that! :) But this just hit it home, that it's what I HAVE to do to be healthy. I'm 5'2", 154 lbs now (158 when I had the blood drawn). Here are my stats. I'm posting here so in two months when I have it again we can all see the difference.
Hemoglobin 11.4 (anemic) Glucose 85 (actually normal, I was so glad about this) Cholesterol 203 (just above normal, glad it wasn't worse) LDL 127 (doc says anything under 130 is good, but lab paperwork says under 100, so that's what I'll aim for) Iron saturation 9 (way low, s/be 15-55).. Blood pressure was 144/90 Doc gave me RX for a water pill b/c of my blood pressure, also said I need to take an iron pill for the anemia (I've been anemic my whole life basically) She went back in my history and could see where I was down around 133lbs and my BP was just fine and cholesterol was better as well. So, I have to stick to this for real! I have to get this weight off and keep it off. I don't want to keep having these issues. Thanks for reading if you've gotten this far! :) Thanks for all the support and help here! |
Rocki-My bloodwork was a little bit of a motivation for me. All of mine was good except my HDLs were too low. So once I get to a healthier weight I'm going to have it redrawn to see if it made a difference. It's a good motivator.

Good morning, ladies!
Well, I have my WI tomorrow, and I am doing the Stabilization class Thursday night. This way, at any point that I am ready, we can start that process. Apparently you must take the class first :) I am still feeling motivated to lose at the moment, but when I hit times of total burn out is when I need another option. At that time, we will "bank" my remaining weeks, and proceed with weight loss at a later date. This works for me, anyway! In fact, I think that just knowing that is what is working...my motivation to stay on the losing track is back because I feel like I am not stuck there, which can feel overwhelming...as well all know:) I really am not having a lot of anxiety over the holidays and the eating aspect. I have a plan to definitely make sure my appetite is "curbed" somehow before dinners, drink and HNS during, and do a Meta Quick the follwoing day :0 We will see if this helps...and may have to tweek it a bit for Christmas! My new favorite treat in the afternoons is that "Super Fruit Drink" (chocolate) from MRC, mixed with a fiber HNS from MRC. This tastes like chocolate covered cherries, ladies....and it has benefits! Try it! Best part is it is totally OP!!! LOL Well, have a great day...fish for me tonight...always what I have the night before a WI...but I eat "Swai" fish. Don't know if you all have tried it...it isn't on the menu, but because it is a white fish, and calories are similar to tilapia, they have approved it for me....it is good and sold at Wal-mart! |
Way to go Tami. Great idea on the maintenance. I hope that works out great for you. And cool that you have a plan for the holidays. We're going out to eat for Thanksgiving, so that will be easier for me b/c we won't have leftovers in the house. For Christmas we're having ham and big dinner probably, but like you I can get on Meta-Quik the next day and hopefully get any gain back off right away!
Congrats on your awesome losses to date! Quote:

I had my maintenance weigh in today and stayed the same, still 5 pounds under goal.. This week I did experiment.
The following veggies usually make me gain weight, but tried them as I intend in eating them during the holiday. I love roasted veggies, so I roasted, sweet potato, hard winter squash, onions with herb de provence seasoning, sprinkled with some olive oil and soy pamesan cheese, no salt and pepper.. Needless to say, they were delicious and I had a good serving, and more and I did not gain with them, so I am so happy with that trial. Wishing all a great weigh in and remember stay OP and stay focused, that will get you to maintenance. Patzi |
Hey everybody...I've been out of town (and off program) due to a death in the family. I'm really worried about my WI this week. :( But, I did the best I could considering the circumstances. Does anyone know if Low Sodium Chicken Broth is ok? I really crave soups this time of year and I really don't want to buy anymore of the supplements than I have too. Also, the center I attend is offering a Carb & Fat Blocker, Corti-Trim and Super Veggie special for the holiday's. Not sure about the price, but have any you taken these supplements and do you think they are worth it. I'm super concerned about the holiday's because the company I work for receives lots of food from customers. Thanks for your input and have a happy WI this week!

Hi...
I never mixed recipes from another diet while losing, but what I did was take a recipe and if I was not sure how to make it MRC, I would take it into center and they would help me. They knew I never used their supplements when cooking. They would tell me how to substitute to make it OP. Patzi |

Patzi-thanks for the encouragement to stay OP. I want to learn how to cook with spices and know how to use veggies more...I've always been a sauce person...love my sauces...and since most of them are not healthy looking for other ways to make my food exciting...and to know how to cook/prepare veggies beyond just microwaving a bag of broccoli or cutting up green peppers. Any veggie soups I've made in the past mainly have corn, carrots, potatoes...so lots of learning and experimenting with new recipes here.
bigdog-oh the half tortilla...I was darn excited this morning (just started green) that I could have tortillas...and at first I was like "I'm really only going to eat half??" but once I wrapped it around my egg and cheese it was satisfying and super yummy. Tomorrow...chicken tacos. Curious to start hearing how everyone is going to deal with Thanksgiving Day...I have the MRC menu for that day, but I don't think it's really practical for me to make and take my own dressing, dessert, etc to my in-laws. I know if I ask or volunteer I can make sure veggies are prepped how I want them, white turkey is a no brainer...but the rest of the meal...ideas are welcome! |
