Default NEWBIE-Would you humor me?

Hello,
I am about to start MRC, I have not had a consultation, but Im trying to be educated. I dont want to walk in there and come out with hundreds of dollars of supplements I dont need. I need to lose about 100 lbs and I have severe issues with energy (very much B-12 deficient). I do want to take this seriously, but losing 100 lbs in 2 months is not my goal, my goal is to change my lifestyle so this weight never haunts me again. Hope that made sense. Any suggestions on the bare minimum supplement and the menu I should choose? Also, what is the weekly cost of the protein shakes? Thanks so much!! Trying to work this out with hubby so he can know what to expect cost wise as well. I appreciate your help and also, would love to know your success, are you losing on this plan?? Im sure those of you with experience have seen this same post one hundred times, hence my request to humor me. Would you mind answering one more time?? You would be helping someone start a life changing journey!!
Blessings,
Stephanie

Hi Stephanie,
For vitamins/minerals, the plan requires that you take an Essential Fatty Acid (EFA) supplement every day, as well as a multi-vitamin--and you can (but don't have to) get them from the center. For your EFA, you can either use fish oil or flaxseed oil (I prefer flaxseed), and I purchase my EFA and multi-vitamin from my grocery store. I am also vitamin D deficient, so I also take D3 (with helps with energy, too).

If you are B12 deficient, you can purchase B12 through the center or your grocer/pharmacy.

You will also need the clear High Nutrient Supplements (HNS) for the plan. THis is the bare minimum of supplements you will need. They also offer meal replacement shakes, meal replacement bars, puddings and other snacks and drinks. If you want to cut down on cost, just start out with the HNS you'll be drinking (depending on how much weight you need to lose, 3-5 HNS packets per day, and they sell them 7/box). You can also purchase everything through another manufacturer online, but it's not really cheaper unless the online site is running a sale or special (which they aren't right now).

As far as which menu to choose--that depends on how much you weigh, how much you want to lose, how much you already exercise, and how quickly or slowly you want to lose. So, that's a pretty personal decision you'll have to make with your consultant.

Hope this helps!

Allison, first off...get used to communicating with your center. We are happy to answer questions, but you need to feel comfortable visiting with them while at the center, and calling them too. I would suggest putting their number in your cell phone. Sometimes when I'm going out to eat, I will call them to ask what the best choices are at the particular place I'm eating....or with questions or for support.

As for drinks, you drink your (up to) 5 drinks a day. The meal bars are meal replacements. So if you don't have time to eat lunch, you will eat a bar. And with your bar, you also drink a HNS. The meal replacement bars will only replace the food you would eat at a meal. I also think you aren't supposed to use meal bars for dinner (I could be wrong....you should ask which meals you can replace with the bars). I was also told to not do more than 3 bars a week. (You should ask about that).

So you can eat your bar IN PLACE of a meal....and drink all your HNS with it.

Does that help?

Hi Jane -

Teacherlady is correct. I was like you because I had done a plan before (thought it was Metabolic, but it was Slimgenics - pretty much the same.) I didn't know about this board, and they had me buy SO many supplements. But in perusing these boards, I found out that on the green menu , it states right on the menu to take EFA daily. So, it looks like the only MANDATORY items are the EFA (and as teacherlady said, you can buy flaxseed oil) and the high nutrition supplements - the drinks.)

My problem is - it is so hard to say no when they are telling you that if you REALLY want to be successful, you need everything.....

Well, they will make repeated suggestions on supplements, but you do not HAVE TO PURCHASE. All you need are the hns and if you are consuming 3-4 per day (which you will), that still becomes pretty pricey. At my center, if you purchase 10 at a time, you get a break on the price (10 for $90), so perhaps you may have that opportunity. If you do this over a fairly long amount of time, this is really helpful.

STAY STRONG. If you do decide on any further supplements, consider MRC6 and Corti-Trim.
