How Much Does This REALLY cost?

  • How much does the MRC really cost? I have my first consultation next week and I wanted to find out as much info as I could so I'm not completly shell shocked.
I've heard mixed reviews...some it's way too much $$ and others that it's decent. I know each program is fit to each individual so I'm just looking for a range. And also, your experience with this program? All input is greatly appreciate...I hope I can find a place here New to the forum
    thanks yall!!
  • I think the initial sign up cost varies greatly on how much weight you have to lose and if you catch a special or not. I paid $298 for a 17 week program. Which from what I gather now, is on the high end. If you don't meet your goal in the time you can resign for an additional fee. My understanding is, if you don't meet your goal by the end of your contract time, then you're done (no stabilization/maintenance follow up) unless you pay for more time. I have not followed the program 100% so my losses have been averaging about a pound a week. At that rate, I will not meet my goal by the end of my 17 weeks. However, they do "guarantee" much higher losses of 2-5 pounds per week on average, if you follow the program 100% as written to the letter. Which can be done, but I have found that to be exceptionally challenging. It's easy to make little mistakes (eat 1 oz more or less protein) forget fruit is only at lunch, starch is only at lunch or dinner or what have you. That being said, I think a lot of people can be much less strict and still have better losses than I have. Every body is different so that varies from person to person.

Then in addition to that you need to buy at least the protein supplement drinks which cost $12 per box of 7 but they do offer a bit of a price break if you buy more at once. 5 boxes for $50 or 10 for $90 at my center. To follow the plan I'm on, you have to drink 2-4 of the protein drinks per day. If you do four a day then you'll go through just under 1 box every two days. I've spent about an additional $100/month so far. I haven't bought any additional supplements at all. You can also order the protein drinks online via family bariatric I think it is, or diet direct they're not "official" but it's my understanding that some of the products are essentially identical if you catch a sale and buy in bulk there's a bit of a price break there as well. My center tracks how much I buy and questions me if I say I don't need more product when they think I'm due for more. I'm not sure but it's possible that it would be considered "breaking your contract" to use something unofficial that you bought elsewhere even if it's nutritionally identical but like I said, I'm not sure about that.

They will also try to sell you additional fat burners, essential oils, fat/carb blockers etc. but those are not required to follow the program.

    Hope this helps.
  • I started the 17 week plan a little over two weeks ago. There was a $298 plan fee. They recommended multi-vitamins, fish oil, enhancer and mrc-6. I followed the advice of others and only purchased enchancer and mrc-6 @ $160 for a 2 month supply. I purchased multi-vitamins and fish oil much cheaper elsewhere.

Then, the cost of high nutrient supplements (which are required). I have been taking 3 HNS each day .. roughly 13 boxes per month @ $9 a box.

I think I figured I would spend just over $1,000 for the 17 weeks.

I feel so much better without sugar, sodium, caffeiene and more veggies & lean protein! Fortunately, I no longer have cravings for sweets. The cappaccino HNS is my alternative to coffee in the morning and in the evening.

When you go in for your consultation, the center should offer you several HNS samples to try.

    Good luck!
  • To me, the cost is sooo worth it. I am fairly on track to meet my goal in time, but even if not, I will buy more time to finish out.

I feel great! I have done WW, Atkins, Nutrisystem, and calorie counting...and had the most results with this. And I get to eat real food that I cook and I'm relearning how to eat.

My cravings are 99% gone (still want chips when I see other eat them...they are my weakness!).

The main cost of the program comes from your drinks and supplements. I take 3 supplements and drink 3-4 drinks a day...and I pay almost $200 a month...but my weight is coming off, my sugar level is back to normal from pre-diabetic, my cholesterol is normal, and my period is back to being regular.

So for me, the cost is totally worth it!
  • Ohwow! First, thank you ladies for answering some of my questions and for your input. You all seem to think it works so I am anxious for my consultation.
But I am a bit discouraged now. There is no way I can afford an additional $200 a MONTH for those supplies (drinks, shakes vitamins etc). I just got off maternity leave and my hours went from 40 a week to 6 hours a week so that is no where near my budget. I am begining to wonder if I even need to go to my consultation.
I am definatly bummed. I wish money grew on trees. It's sad because I think I would really strive with this program but I literally do not have the dime to spare. It's a bummer that money is standing in my way of acheving what I've been trying to achieve for 5 years now I guess I need to re think this. I really do appreciate your feedback, more than you know.
  • If you buy the drinks in a bundle they are cheaper. I do about 3 drinks a day (they suggest 4) and my center is keeping track of what I drink(yay). The 10 for 90 is the way to go really. I did not find that buying them online really saved anything unless you bought a whole bunch of them. THey are gonna try to sell you suplements and I bought them in the beginning and I wish I had my money back, way to many pills to take all day long! You will need to take a fish oil (so your hair doesnt fall out) and a multi. You can get both at walmart if needed.

My center had a sign up that said they are going to have some black friday deals next friday (early in the am) I am going to try to go and see what they have cause I need to re-enroll and I am not paying full price (129) when I paid 79 to restart last time. Ask about specials and dont let them pressure you!
  • I signed up with my mom and they gave us a discount for joining together. Not sure if all centers do that tho. I found that I end up spending much less on groceries so that makes up for the $90 I spend on HNS a month. My menu only requires me to have 2 a day, of course I might lose more if I increase those but I don't have to. Anyways, I say stick to your consultation and discuss the cost with them maybe they can give you advise on how to make it doable for you. You're going in armed with information so you're one up on them already.
