Default Diet messing up your CYCLE??

Has anyone experienced this diet messing up your menstral cycle? Making it come early or being heavier??? Sorry for the personal question, but this is the only thing that I can think of that would prompt this right now for me.

Dieting and workouts have actually helped mine a lot! I used to get very very bad craps that would have me in a ball crying every month along with heavy flows. I still get the cramps but they are liveable and my flow doesn't seem to be as heavy. So it has changed mine but for the better...

There was just recently a thread where this was discussed

http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/meta...ual-cycle.html

Long story short, extrememly low carb/low cal diets (MRC) can wreak havoc on your menstrual cycle (for SOME). Back last summer after i was on MRC for about 2 months i started getting early, frequent, light periods (like every 2 or 3 weeks) and then they just stopped altogether. Ive been off MRC since last October, and i still havent seen my period again. Its been since last July

Mine didn't get any shorter or lighter. But what DID happen was my normally like clock work schedule started shifting from every 28 days to 23 or 24. Now that I'm on maintenance it has stayed at 24 days.... don't know if it had anything to do with the program or not. I'm not old enough for the change yet, so it's not that either... oh well.

our diet is really low fat too, which can mess with the hormones a little.
If it's a huge problem or change, definitely speak to your dr

Medically speaking a fasting type diet (the first few weeks of MRC sounds like this) and a lot of cardio exercising (marathon training or military boot camp) will mess up your cycle. For most it will end it, lighten it, or cause irregularity of the cycle. I wanted to include a link, but this board has by far the strictest policies for PMs and what not. It's actually obnoxious. If you go to w w w. womentowomen. com /menstruation/irregularperiods. aspx taking out the spaces obviously.
