Some of our Tips and Tricks...
I thought it would be interesting and helpful to have everyone post their tips and or tricks that they have learned to push thru plateaus and such. Tips like, eating raw veggies are better than eating cooked. Eggs are better than cheese. Sometimes taking HNS with less or no water will push you past a plateau.
Anyone else? |
Make sure you're not eating the same things every day....switch it up... increase your water even more, cut down on the number of creamies per week
|
using fish and chicken as your protein choices usually helps ... using berries as your fruit ... any of those kinds of things .... but sometimes, a plateau is just going to happen, and it will break for no reason other than your body is ready to move on to losing again. Don't worry about it! Just try not to get too frustrated!

do as many hns as allowed, also the center told me to do one before bed so i can burn fat throughout the night. excersizing in ther morning is best too. watch out for hns like the chicken bullion, it has a ton of sodium.

Stay on plan. If you make exceptions, don't make them often. You will lose. It is what you do in the BIGGER PICTURE that adds up to loss. Oh, and find a track and walk about 3 miles a day (4-5 days a week), or walk outside and watch your butt go away.

My center recommended eating beans as your starch and berries as your fruit. If I'm stalling, I'll add a day or two on Meta-Quick to my week.

This is a great idea. I learned the hard way that you have to drink your water. Not just 8 glasses either, for every 25 pounds you are overweight you need to add another 8 oz. and if you are exercising you need to drink more also. When I went up to 10 glasses of water I broke a plateau.

I do my 5th HNS of the day at bedtime too...I don't always do them with meals...i know, shame on me. I space them out during the day.
I think with a plateau the thing that worked best for me is switching things up. Try to eat things that you didn't eat the week before. If you ate eggs and bread for breakfast, try eggs and oatmeal. If you had chicken, switch to turkey. Adding variety can sometime fool your body. More water always helps too. |

Yes, me too. I never heard this until recently on this site. I know a lot of innacurate information gets posted here, so I am curious about this. Innacurate information is why MRC becomes frustrated with information appearing here and does not endorse this site. While I find helpful sharing of experiences and information here, there does appear to be a lot of confusion. |

I totally agree, there can be no harm in taking hns with less or no water. I don't like them diluted anyway cause I am into richer flavors. But is it suggested as a means to a better result -- that is what I am asking? If so, I want to know! |
I asked my center on Monday about how much water you add to a HNS?!? My counselor said the amount of water doesn't matter, your getting 15 grams of protein whether you "slam" the package or dilute with 30 ounces of water...
|
What are HNS? I have not been to a center and learned of the diet from a friend. She has shown me what she did but she seems to have left something out, some of the terminology and the supplements (viatamins). thanks, A

HNS is high nutrient supplement...basically...a protein drink.
I was told the ammount of water doesn't matter either, some people don't like them, so either super dilute them or drink them straight to get it over with fast (i've done this with flavors I don't like). The only bad part about super diluting them is that the water doesn't count in your daily water total. I try to stick with 6-10oz with my HNS. |
