Default 2nd question for MRC Maintainers

Is weight loss possible on the Maintenance part of the program? Did anyone get to their goal weight by the end of their program, but still wanted to lose more weight than what you originally signed up for?

I signed up for a weight that I thought was reasonable and obtainable in the 17 week program. I've got about 6 more weeks to go OP; and I am on track to get to the goal weight that I signed up for.

However, I'd like to take off another 10 pounds beyond that goal weight; but, I don't want to plunk any more money down for additional time.

Thanks for your help.

When you get to the end of what you signed up for, they will either counsel you to lose more to get to a better BMI or body fat % (and maybe want you to resign and pay more money) or they will start you on Stabilization where they introduce back into your diet foods that you were not allowed to eat. After the 6 weeks of Stabilization, you are sign a Maintenance agreement that you will not go over 6 pounds over your agreed upon weight. You are given a menu of portions of the different food categories and how many portions to eat per day to supply either 1200 or 1500 calories a day. If Maintenance is included in what you paid initially, you can continue going for a year to really cement these new habits in to your new lifestyle.

You could then go back to the final menu you were on or follow the 6th week of stabilization (lose slower than on green menu) and continue to lose while you are in maintenance and have their counseling and support.

I hope some other people respond also as I have only been in maintenance for 2 months or so and although I have been maintaining, I have not been following the menu guidelines as well as I could have been. I also signed the Maintenance Agreement for 5 pounds over my initial goal weight as that was really too low for me - it was good to strive for but my body did not look good that low yet - maybe with more exercise which I am trying to do this new year. Good luck, jeanette

I am only into day 2 of stabilization. From what I am told, and how I'm feeling, yes, you should still lose, that is why they don't want you to start stabilization until you're about 6-10 lbs from your goal and within the appropriate body fat. I didn't want to let go of my green menu and had to be coaxed by my center to start stabilization. I just didn't feel it would have worked for me to start stabilizing the week before Christmas, so I made a deal with them that I would start after new years. So, here I go....wish me luck! I was down a pound this am.

Thanks for your help. I think I meant stabilization--I'm not there yet; but I am about 8 pounds away from my goal, with about 4 weeks to go. I think I would like to take off another 10 pounds beyond that.

I asked the center if there was a limit to how much weight I could lose in stabilization mode, and they said 5 pounds. I asked them if I wanted to lose another 10 pounds beyond what I signed up for, and they recommended to not go into stabilization mode. I wonder if I'll be in Limbo land, or what will happen at the juncture. Guess I'll find out in February.

Thanks both with your advice; and good luck with the weight loss.

Very helpful. Thanks. I'm not understanding your last paragraph--can you please reword for me? The part about signing the maintenance agreement for 5# over initial goal weight and that your body didn't look good that low yet....We have similar heights and similar weight loss. Difference is I am planning on going to 140 instead of the 135 you have. I'm pleased with results and have gone down a pants size but I STILL Have the belly fat that is out of proportion with rest of body and that is frustrating. It's good to know that in stabilization you still lose a bit as maybe that will continue to come off---I'm not sure where else the fat will come from
