If you add cinnamon and splenda to the green tea/cranberry when its hot it tastes sort of like hot apple cider :)

Way to go Goose! It's the result that matters ... and your perserverance paid off! YIPPEE!!

For those who order from dietdirect -- the powdered HNS is on sale this week (I don't like 'em, but I know many of you do).

Well, finally all the parties are over (I didn't make such hot choices) ... so now it's back on track AGAIN .... geesh I'm getting tired of saying that. :^:

Fifties Lady - I searched for your recipe on the Thanksgiving Chicken Salad and found it on Nov. thread p. 19 - whoohoo! I have a question...since this recipe makes a good-sized portion, how much do you pack for one serving. I would like to make it and split it up for lunch etc... Just want to make sure I pack the right serving size because lord knows, I can eat the whole thing in one sitting. Thanks for sharing.
Also, the Wildberry Protein Shakes...I just put in my Magic Bullet with a tad of Vanilla pudding (to make it extra creamy), add the water, a couple ice cubes. It's nice to rotate with the concentrates because it takes more like a dessert to me.

Good news CndLou....this makes one portion for lunch. Just remember to use either 4 or 6 oz of chicken, depending on what menu you are on. It can only be used for lunch since you have fruit in it, unless your menu allows fruit at other meals, I'm not familiar with the other color of menus. It does make quite a bowl, and it is so yummy and filling. I have been taking it quite often to work and really look forward when it is lunch time. I have diced the celery, the chicken and ground the cranberries and weighed it and put it in baggies, so I just have to throw it together in the morning. That makes it so easy.

Your shakes sound super...I will have to purchase some puddings and give it a shot. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks to Fifties Lady, Namaste, and Dkmd27 for your support! I am so excited to almost be to goal. It has been a long, eye-opening journey throughout which I have learned so much about myself.

Goose...you bet!!! As soon as you get to goal, I think you should take your cat, and I will take my overweight dog and we can start them on a diet too.:D

It's so AWESOME to see you all having so much success on this program, it makes it so much more fun and real!
Has anyone seen that movie Julia & Julie with Meryl Streep? I just loved that movie...saw it on netflix the other night. So, I was thinking of maybe trying to do something similar with the MRC cook book, well with the exception that I am not a writer or a great cook. However I made the Shrimp and Vegetable in Cream Sauce (p. 64) last night and the Honey Mustard Crusted Chicken (p. 65) tonight. Both were delish!! Husband couldn't believe they were on the diet!! I recommend the Shrimp recipe without the shells on the end. Two huge thumbs up on the Honey Mustard Chicken, with a side of cooked asparagus. It was so filling and I stayed within the serving size. I also made the Thanksgiving Chicken Salad (except used turkey) for tomorrows lunch. I tasted a little and it was yummy!! I honestly don't feel like this is a diet except that I had to give away another parent present filled with holiday cookies and treats AND another treat from a co-worker AND a birthday cookie AND homemade chocolate chip cookies. I NEVER realized how much temptation there is working at an elementary school - geeeez louizzze!! Anyways, we will see how long this cooking with the MRC book phase lasts...so far I'm impressed! Good night friends.

Good Morning all! I hope everyone is having a great week! I'm heading into the home stretch for a 2 week vacation starting Saturday and am starting to feel like the kids in school - countdown 3, 2, 1!! LOL

WI last night and lost another 2 lbs and she told me it was time for measurements (actually should have been last week) and found out I lost another 13 inches!!! Grand total for 5 weeks 17 lbs & 25.5 inches!! What a great feeling!!! I am definitely starting to notice the difference and actually bought a new pair of pants this weekend!

3 lbs to make my mini goal by Friday - any advice? I'm definitely going to make sure to stick to the plan to the letter these next few days and step up my exercise. I really want to sign the 20 lb board before I leave.

dkmd27 12-15-2009 12:54 PM

Leigh .... I would recomment upping your water, and sticking to chicken and fish for your proteins. Don't do any creamies and you should be just fine! Good luck.

dkmd27 12-15-2009 12:56 PM

CndLou .... I like your idea of cooking your way through the MRC cookbook -- I will await your "reviews" and try some. Thanks!!

Does the creamies slow down the weight loss, I am excited about drinking the hot chocolate? Also the turkey is a nice change, does that slow it down as well. My loss has been slow, 1 lb last week but the inches are coming off.

That pic is the carrot on the end of the stick for me.

I don't even want to attempt to get into a costume or go to a class now, each time I log in I think, "wow, I really miss dancing- if I lose weight, I'll gain my confidence again and do the things that make me happy...."

(Oh, almost forgot- I actually went to the gym today! What an emotional high! Everyone dreads going to the gym, no one regrets going- think I'll go again!) *yay!*

Fifties Lady- over 41 inches lost!?!?! WOW!!!!

Belly dancing is one of my "goal" things I want to do when I lose my weight. I've always thought it looked fun and it's so beautiful. I can't wait to give it a try!

I think the peach mango powder is awesome. You should really try the strawberry banana gelatin as well. It's like cheating but you're not. :)

It tells you everything you want to know about the contents of what you ate. I pay most attention to calories, fat, carbs and protein. You can also add your exercise. The only problem is printing it out to bring to MRC. I put it into excel, format it and print it. That part is a pain.

You can also try something like Sparkpeople.com. I know you can print out shopping lists and such and I believe it'll let you print out journal pages too. It's free and keeps track of your protein, carbs, fat, etc. I used to use it when I was trying to lose on my own. It's a pretty good site.
