Red face Metabolic Research Center Questions

Hey, Metabolic Research Center Takes...You guys really like to post. I have a few questions and I would love to hear many different inputs. A friend of mine recommended this program and I decided to try it so I made my consultation appointment for tomorrow at 5:30. The thing is that I am very nervous. Very nervous. I have had a few babies and would like to finally get back into my old clothes. So, I have afew questions...probably more than a few

1. What is the consultation like? Besides my doctor, I would never in a million years let anyone see me on a scale or measure me. What exactly do they do?

2. Approximately how much does this cost? I looked on the website and it does not list any sort of prices....since some of you are doing this program, could you please share with me the approximate costs. I have a budget in mind.

3. Are you happy with this program/how difficult is it? What sort of components go into completing this program....exercise, supplement, time wise.

4. Could you please share your numbers with me. A friend of mine lost weight like crazy on this program. I have no idea how many pounds she lost, but she went from a size 12 to a 2! Are her "results not typical"?

I am 28 years old, have 3 boys and I hold back on a lot of stuff to do with my kids because I am embarrased with my weight/body. I weigh 142 lbs and would like to be 115 (10 lbs heavier than my pre-pregnancy weight). If anything, weight is not as important as looking better/feeling better.

I am sorry if you get thses questions all the time. I wanted to read through these threads, but there is a lot to read.

Thanks!
Melissa

Hi there - I have been a repeat MRC offender. The program works well if you make the committment. It has been a while since I have been to the center (or had a consultation). From what I remember - they bring you into a private room and talk to you about your goals, what brought you in, how much weight you want to lose, etc... For me, weight is a very emotional issue and it's very difficult for me to discuss with anyone - so I always ended up getting very teary. The counselors are typically great - they're there to help you obtain your goal.
Regarding pricing - it all depends on how much weight you want to lose - you sign up for a specified amount of weeks - based on your goal weight - then you have a certain amount of weeks of stabilalization and a year of maintenence. Beyond the initial cost - you will have to purchase thier drink supplements. You have to commit to at least 2 per day - (2 boxes per week) but they encourage you to drink up to 5 per day. These drinks help you increase your metabolism and lose weight.
If you are going to invest money into a weight loss program you want the best results. For overall health - you should work out at least 30 minutes a day, 3-4 days a week. They do not require this - but since you're making a 'lifestyle' change - you should strive for some physical activity.
I completely understand when you say weight is holding you back - I am the same way. The first time I was on MRC, I went from 142 to 119 and started in February and ended in late May. (I'm 5'6) You will typically lose 2-4 lbs per week. In the beginning you will lose more - but your weight loss will taper to 2-4 lbs per week on average.
Good luck - this could be the beginning of a new you.

I've been on MRC since November and am down 52#. It's like anything else -- if you do it, it will work. What I like about it is that you meet individually with a counselor twice a week, go over your menu, check your blood pressure, talk about any challenges and weigh last. They offer classes (included with your program) on lifestyle issues, emotional issues, cooking and exercise ideas. These are typically small group (4-10 people). I like the individualized attention. Once a month they do a body composition ... their scale figures weight, lean muscle mass, % fat, % water, etc. They also do your measurements. It's a fun way to track success ... I've lost 51" so far. I've gone from a size 20-22 to a 12-14. I'm 5'6" and 53 years old.

As Cam2009 told you, the cost is based on how much you have to lose. I paid $267 for my 27 week program. You do have to buy the drink supplements (depending on your weight ... at your current weight, the max you could drink would be 3). They run me about 75-100 per month. All-in-all the investment has been worth it to me. They may try to get you to also take supplements ... I don't take any and have still had good success.

What type/brand of carb blockers do you take. I was thinking about getting
some, just in case I have a cheat day?
