I'm going to a party tonight and am considering having a glass of wine. How much damage will this do? If it's going to stall me out for a week then I'll skip it. My counselor said everyone is different, and some can tolerate small amounts without too much setback. What are your experiences?

I agree with the counselor, everyone is different. You could try it and see. Then you will know what your body can do.

I have found if i cheat it leads me in a downward spiral of mind games, where i continue to cheat here and there... HOWEVER, i have felt at times if i didn't cheat that i was being so restricted with this diet that I wasn't enjoying normal things that i thought i should be... At this point i have cheated a bit but now just want to get through this, and i know the better i do the faster i will get there, and once i get there, i will eventually be allowed the things that i'm craving, such as a glass of wine... My last experience with wine was a disaster.. I actually ended up drinking a whole bottle... felt awful and yes it did slow me down quite a bit... BUT everyone is totally different, so it really is something you need to figure out for yourself. If you never cheat, then you don't know how you will react. I am taking the times that i was Off Plan, here and there as learning experiences. I found that I wasn't really even able to enjoy the times that i did cheat anyway because I felt so guilty for going off program that i didn't enjoy whatever it was that i thought I wanted enough to stray....
Good luck, you will do what you need to do for you. :)

Thanks for your input, JSTUCKLY and LAURA. I guess I need to decide if I am strong enough to really just have a small glass, or if that one small glass will lead to finishing the bottle! I haven't strayed OP yet (in my 4 weeks) but have experienced the downward spirals/mindgames that you mentioned in diets past.

I am reposting this here to see if i can find an answer... I started a new thread on just this, but no suggestions...

Does anyone have any suggestions as to other fiber suppliments you can use instead of the pricy MRC Fiberfills? I love the aftermarket posting of HNS alternatives, but are there other fibers that we can use and still stay on plan? My friend gave me this jar of stuff, white powder in a green bottle that looks like it has pretty close to the same ingreidents as what you can buy at MRC but its not flavored and much less expensive? Are we allowed to use metamusil, or something similiar as long as it dosen't have added sugar?? I want to ask my center but they will just push me to buy theirs... $11 a box for fiber just seems a bit crazy to me... However it does help with "things " as well as the hunger factor....

At my center they say that alcohol will slow you down for the next 12 days. I don't know if I agree, but that is what everyone there says.

I've never tried the fiberfill, but I would be curious of the answer. I've never even heard anyone at my center talk about the fiberfill.

Went to WI tonight, down another 1.5lbs - the counselor was talking about corti-trim (I think that is the name), has anyone tried this ? i feel like I am on tons of stuff already and I don't know if I should just go ahead and start one more supplement. If it is worth it i will, but I wanted to find out from you guys if you thought it was worth it.

Congratulations on all the losses, tvmitche & nwarn. Denise & tkdtara84 great job on signing the 30lb board – you two are moving right along! And congratulations on the 85 lb board Finz!!
Cranberrie & WooPigSooie – variety will be really important. Not only to keep things interested so you wont be tempted to go off plan, but it also keeps your body from plateau too much. Variety seems to make the scale drop faster, keep your taste buds happy & give you a greater variety of meals that you can make long into maintenance. You’ll get really good at converting your favorite recipes when you get the hang of the cooking style – and this comes from someone who didn’t know how to cook very well when I started!
Carrie – it’s great to see you back posting again. I’ve missed you!
Jstuckly – how is your body fat % & BMI? You might be exactly where you need to stay. Do you want to lose more because of the number on the scale, or do you still feel like you have more body fat to lose? Remember, our bodies will continue to tone and shape up over the next year too – even though the numbers on the scale will be consistent. Hoping you get good results about your daughter on Monday.
Judy – I’m so glad we’re going through stabilization together. I have to repeat week 4. I got a little cocky and pushed it – had a few too many cheats this week, so it’s a repeat for me too. I’ve just got to focus and push through the last 3 weeks. The bummer is I will be in week 5 during my vacation now. Looks like my 6 weeks may turn into 8 to 10 . At least I’m consistent, I did the whole program slow!
Kim – I’ve had a glass of wine a few times during program and it always set me back 1 week. But, I had a friend who had a glass every evening through the whole thing and consistently lost the 3-5 lbs per week.
Nwarn – I didn’t start using the corti-trim until my last 20 lbs. I did lose a lot from the mid-section, but I don’t know if it was the supplements or that it was the only place left that I had any fat!

I read this post right before I left for the party and it haunted me all night! I was very tempted by the wine (and the double fudge brownies) but I just kept sipping my water. I have a couple events coming up where I plan to drink a bit but tonight wasn't worth the possible setback. Thanks for all your responses.

I am a big fan of the fiberfill. I only read about it on this site and had to ask my center about it (they are not pushy about selling things). It's great for digestion and really helps me out if I get too hungry between meals.

I would certainly think another fiber substitute would work, though, as long as it's low calorie/no sugar. Maybe give it a try for a few days and see if you keep losing at your normal rate?
