Darlin', do NOT beat yourself up about what you eat when pre-conditioning. Especially if you eat something that's on the menu! Stick with the menu and if you're making a significant change in what you're eating, you'll lose weight this week! (If you make it a constant round of "last suppers" like I did, you probably won't - I didn't.)

The smart ones recognize that every meal won't be perfect & acknowledge that.

Meemo: You always have the best responses and they really only require common sense. The best class I've been to at MRC was by my favorite counselor, it focused on not feeling guilty. Sure makes sense, espcially when my Off Plan choices aren't because I'm cheating. Your postbacks are so helpful, so I'm going to "blow off" any criticism I may get on Tuesday. I think we are often harder on ourselves than we need to be.

Guess what??? I am starting to see my clavicles!! I was always so envious of yours on your avatar and had that down as one of my mini goals.

AH ha, yeah I think that is what has happened to me. I'm ok with cheese and cottage cheese, but I'm pretty sure I can't have milk anymore, oh well maybe later I can use soy or rice milk when I want to have cereal. And hey, nice NSV's, good job on staying away from those cookies!

They are made by Birdseye, and they say 'Steamfresh' on the package. THey are great because you throw the whole thing in the microwave and put it to 5-6 minutes and they steam inside the bag. The only thing you have to be careful of is to not buy the ones with carrots and they also have some with sauce, like garlic or cheese sauce. I get the brocolli/cauliflower mix, the brocolli florets and the brussel sprouts (I don't like green beans).

I am 1/2 way through my first day and I am starving! If I remember from a few years back when I tried this, I was hungry until day 11. Does that sound about right? Wish me luck! i am off to work at the golf course where i will be tempted by yummy junk food. But I have already packed my dinner veggies and will grab some deli turkey at the snack bar as my protein. Plus, I am drinking all 5 of my HNS today. One day at a time, right??

I will talk to you all when I get home--at 9:00! Ugh!!

Yeah if I remember right, I was starving the first few days too... I drank all of my HSN's and a lot of water. By the 3rd day I would also drink one other drink, like a cup of green tea or crystal lite. Funny how a glass of crystal lite can fill you up for a bit. But like you said, one day at a time! :)

Back to work tomorrow - and first day of work doing MRC. Its gonna be a bit interesting working this in. Number 1 I work in a cafe, and number 2 I do not get a break!!!! (I know its against the law - tell that to my boss) anyway...I think cause the only time I have a bit of time to eat is about 10:30 right befor we open, I will have breakfast then, and fill up on water till we close at 2, then have lunch when I get home at 2:30ish . We always eat dinner late during the week cause of my hubbys schedual, so that will work ok with having lunch late. From what I understand the NHS will make me feel fuller too, but I cant start that till Friday - ahhhhhhh !!! Im nervous - afraid I will get hungry and want to munch on all the yummy cafe foods....I would normally eat my lunch at 10:30 (never ate breakfast before) and then have a snack at 2 right after we close....I hope my plan works....Does anyone have any suggestions

I remember being hungry in the beginning...but it passed quickly. There seem to be more days of NOT being hungry at all as I've gotten into the program more. Some of that was probably just plain boredom with the same ol foods, so be sure to change up your menu often. It's just as hard to stay OP when you aren't hungry also.

It's hard for me to stay OP at work also. I have some days that are really long... I don't have a set break or lunch time...we just do it when we can. It often takes me 45 minutes to eat an orange and stuffed pepper! LOL But, you can do it...you just have to plan. I use the HNS in between meals. It's surprising how much they help to get you thru to your next meal. And, remember that raw veggies will fill you up for longer than cooked ones will.

I never use to eat breakfast either, but the whole idea of MRC is to teach us a new way of life. You'll get the hang of it. I was really nervous in the beginning also. I just didn't wanna fail. But, stick to the plan as much as possible and you can't fail! Good luck!!!:)

Prior to going on plan, I switched to unsweetened Silk, and I honestly couldn't tell the difference between cow's milk and the Silk. I used it mostly in my cereal and oatmeal, and it was fine. I switched because it has a longer shelf life and I was tired of throwing milk out. If you end up going that route eventually, make sure you look for "unsweetened" in the green carton. The "plain" Silk is sweet.

Ditto! I agree totally on both points!

I made it back to school this evening, and after unloading the car, walking the dog, showering and preparing dinner, I took a deep breath and stepped on the scale. It's the end of the day and my belly is full, but I was only up a pound from the last morning weigh-in I had before heading home, so I think I'll be okay this time. I don't expect to miraculously gain 5 lbs by tomorrow morning--LOL!

I just spent my 6 day business trip to Ft. Collins! yes, they were having a heatwave. Arg! I wanted to escape the Missouri humidity. I will take the 97 there than the 77 I flew back to. i was already sweating, waiting outside for my ride from the airport. Colorado is made for being outdoors. Take a nice walk. I was so jealous that I wasn't nearly as sweaty as I am here when I go for a 30 minute jaunt.

shenanigan 07-20-2008 11:03 PM

I am so disappointed in myself. I couldn't even make it through my first day! I did really well until I got to work. I ate my lunch at 1:30 before I went in at 2:00. by 3:00 I was starving. I had already consumed 64 oz of water, so i drank a diet rite. (as of this minute, I have had 112 oz of water.)Then i made myself wait until 4:00 for my HNS. I was starving again an hour later and stretched myself to 7:00 for dinner. I blew it when I ate about 6 olives and 2 cubs of cheese at 8:30. :devil:Then I realized when I got home that i missed the dinner bread, so i ate that at 9;30. I am already hungry again!!! I hope this is just psychological. I go to my second class tomorrow and get my instructions for the next menu which I will start on Thursday.

I think I will try the Crystal Light. The counselor said some allow it and others do not because it has like 10 calories. But it always does fill me up when I drink a cup of it. Thanks for the reminder!
