Default Day 3 on MF

After "fighting the fight" for entirely too long, I have decided to give MF a whirl and so far, so good. I am fortunate enough to have a great MF support system in my local area, but I would love to be in touch with as many MF users as possible!

Default Day 3 for me!

I am on day 3 today. I did it for two weeks a couple months ago, but gave up because I REALLY wanted a burger. But for some reason, the burger just didn't taste that great anyway! But because I had the hamburger, I didn't get back on track and ate all kinds of food in the last month. But non of it was worth it, so I'm back on. So far, down 3.8 lbs (I know most of it is water weight)! Good luck to you!

Isn't it weird what one off-meal can do to your resolve? Trust me, I know all about it

How are you both doing?

I'm going to be starting in the next week, so I want to keep in touch too!

I've already lost the first 10% of my body weight from drastically changing my eating habits. I no longer crave junk food and rarely go out any longer, so I'm hoping going on the MF doesn't trigger that sort of thing. By the time my package gets here, I will have the rest of my summer schedule cleared of social events and travel and I can devote my attention to staying on the program.

You'll hear from me, especially if I start losing my resolve!

way to go stacy.....under that 200 mark! how are you holding up BL?

I am a scientist so i know what ketosis is, but the way that it is explained at the beginning of the medifast forums on this site is great! reading it makes me realize how damaging that one "slip" can be. I suggest everyone check it out if you haven't already. keep it up ya'll

Umm... not so great. It's been a bad week for me. Family get-togethers, bachelorette party for a friend, a rehearsal dinner tomorrow and a wedding on Saturday..... I'm down 5 lbs, and I'm making "good" choices, but I am not following plan right now. I know there is no good time to start, but I am planning on jumping in with both feet on Sunday when all these crazy events are over with!

Oh, except I had a piece of chocolate cake last night.... I know, that was totally a bad choice. I know that I CAN resist, so I'm not making excuses. But it was just so tempting. No more of that. Not even at the wedding on Saturday.

Stacy, That's great that your cravings pass! Mine nag me all day long.... hence the chocolate cake. The thing I love about medifast is I am never ever "hungry," however I am always craving things since it's so strict! Any suggestions for resisting the temptation? I try to just stay busy so I don't think about it... but as soon as I finish whatever I'm doing I am still craving! I don't have ANY junk in my house, except food for my husband. Last night my sweet tooth was so bad that I actually loaded the baby up in her car seat at 9:30pm and drove to the store up the street just to get a piece of chocolate cake. It wasn't even good. It never IS good. That's what's so weird. Last time I did medifast for 2.5 weeks and was craving a hamburger SO bad. So I had one. And I totally fell off the bandwagon... And it wasn't even that good! *sigh*

bl.....i have found that if you truly 100% stick op for at least 3 weeks, all cravings go away. the first time i did medifast i was 100% for the first 2 weeks and then like 90%.....80% etc. i lasted 2 months and lost 32 lbs, but i was always craving. this time i have been 100% for 5.5 wks and my cravings are almost completely gone. everytime i want something and take a sec and realize that the taste isn't really what i want. it's just that i am so used to "making myself feel better" with food. by the way, i have so put the babies in the car and gotten ice cream! lol

After this huge social weekend of wedding stuff I am planning to stick to it 100%. I did this a couple months ago, but only lasted 2.5 weeks. I've heard that medifast is good at changing your palate, and that eventually you don't crave bad things.... I hope you are right! I know it will never be "easy" but I do not withstand temptation very well! Thanks for the encouragement!

I am on day 3 right now...and I am really enjoying the plan. I have not had any real bad symptoms yet. I feel really good...kinda low energy but I know that my energy will come back soon. I have only been doing the shakes this week just because I could not take the taste of th eggs and I am in the process of exchanging them and waiting for my next order. I am obssessed with the scale and I have already weighed myself this morning and it says I lost 6 pounds...I hope by Sunday when it is really a whole week I am happy with the 1 week results...tbc.

I'm on round 2 of Day 3 (had a social weekend that blew it for me). Second round isn't any easier the first couple of days, even with all my experience of my first attempt. But in both cases, for me, Day 3 is proving to be the day I hit my groove. Last week I lost 5.5 lbs, but gained back 3 over the weekend. I have no intention of caving to cravings this coming weekend!

I'm looking forward to my Week 3, when all those cravings have evaporated!

I have cravings for chocolate a lot. I just have a chocolate or chocolate mint crunch bar. They kill my cravings. As far as a burger goes, you can still have red meat, just have the lean version (like sirloin). You can totally do it, just remember not to go overboard. And remember you can do this. I turned down cake and bacon. I love both of those things, but I know that I have other things that are more important, like myself.

I will have cake again one day. The day I celebrate my goal! Just a small piece though. Good luck and stick with it, if I can do it, you can.

BLMiller,

As a fellow Oregonian, I can totally understand the love of burgers (and good Brewery bar food for that matter!) One way that I have found to cope has been to order your burger as a lettuce wrap with all the veggies, mustard and pickles. Skip the fries and have a side salad instead with an iced tea or diet coke to drink. Sure...it's just not the same, but you don't want to look or feel the same either do you?

Each meal, remind yourself that this is a choice. No one is forcing you to do MF, so we shouldn't feel that we aren't allowed to have something. There is no parent scowling in the background saying "No dessert for you!" It is a choice you have made about your health so that you will live a longer fuller life with your family. And you're right, the food never tastes good enough to justify derailing all of your great efforts. Keep that in mind every time you are facing a difficult craving. I always ask myself, "Is it REALLY REALLY worth breaking my self resolve to succeed over, will it be that delicious?" and usually I change my mind.

Keep trying, you will eventually get past these cravings!!

Hey everyone...my problem with sticking to the plan is not that I can't resist the food I shouldn't have...it's actually beverages with me!!! When I go out with family or even on a Friday night the thing that makes me feel good is having some kind of good drink, not alcoholic but I love juice, Starbucks, chocolate milk, etc...I'm drinking a lot of water and sticking to the plan but yesterday I had this sugary Strawberry Lemonade because I couldn't resist!!! I will try to have more will power next time!
