missygith 07-13-2008 01:26 AM

I just had a thought... Jen, maybe you've had a little stress? With thinking about a first date and meeting this guy for the first time maybe your body is seeing it as some stress and anxiousness... I dunno, just a thought. Boy, my posts look like Clark W. Grizwolds christmas vacation lights... Tacky! Be good, Missy

ROMANS828 07-13-2008 03:49 AM

I love first dates too! so exciting. i remember mine done to the T. It's been so long.....ALice......you know stress can totally make you not lose. don't give up and stay op. are there some condiments you could shave? Maybe more water?
Missy....you are so inspirational!! Congrats on the weight loss. Has anyone noticed how no matter what size you are or how much you weigh, when you are on your way DOWN you feel good. I weighed in today for my 1 week weigh......down 8.5 lbs. it's not a lot of weight but i feel great! cravings pretty much gone. oh, on the nutrisystem pouches..i think if you've been on the plan for a while it would be ok to try. right now i am so new to this that i am following the plan EXACTLY. I weigh my meat and all. we'll see how long that lasts. I want a ticker too:( God Bless each of you special ladies on your journey. it is all for His glory!
ps. aren't my boys cute?

ROMANS828 07-13-2008 03:50 AM

my picture didn't show up. maybe i need to log off and back on or something. sorry

Zeitgeist 07-13-2008 09:00 AM

My name is Jen. My user name was the name of a cat I had years ago, lol. I know it is confusing...no worries.

The thought of stress did cross my mind, Missy. I'm not quite sure how that works, though, since ultimately I have been consuming less than I "use."

Since I met him online, I wanted our first date to be someplace where it would be easy to see an "end" if I found him creepy or crazy. So, we met at a Starbucks. I figured a cup of tea could be easily chugged if I wanted to bail, lol. However, we sat and talked for over 3 hours. Both of us seem to be equally socially awkward, although he less so than me. Good grief...at one point I was playing with my empty plastic cup and I accidentally flung it at him, hitting him in the chest! ACK! He, on the other hand, showed up with a shirt that had a few small stains on the shoulder, which he didn't notice before leaving his house. He later called and emailed, absolutely mortified he looked like a bum (which he didn't).

So, yeah, both of us were a bit awkward. But next week should be fun.

Hope everyone has a successful, OP day!

Ruthxxx 07-14-2008 09:11 AM

Quick pop-in to ask if there are any Canadian Medifasters left. There used to be a few but I don't spot them. I am no longer able to use the program and have a couple of questions.

Nikki2476 07-14-2008 12:52 PM

Hey everyone...

Jen congrats on the first date success...just a good thing there was nothing in your cup when you hit him in the chest...that would have been awkward.

Missy---yeah for you on the weight loss. and I am just able to get my signature too, so I'm sure I went overboard with it, but was so excited.

rkrs--welcome back to 3fc and to medifast

Well this weekend was not very successful for me, but I knew it wouldn't be. My friends and I went out on the lake Friday and instead of drinking my shake had a few beers instead. So back OP today, but not getting back on the scale until next week, if I can stay off of it.

Hope everyone has a great day!!!!!!!

Gatorgrl 07-14-2008 01:05 PM

I have not had coffee in 52 days and broke down this morning and had to get some. I did sugar and a little half and half...it did not even wake me up so I feel like it was a waste...did not taste as good as it used to either but I was soooo tired I felt like I needed it.:(

This weekend I took my dd to see the American Girl movie (very good, family friendly pic) and had popcorn too. I don't regret that though, like I said before I have been craving salt and it was soooooo good;)

I have my weigh in on Friday so I am sure if the coffee or popcorn have any affect I can turn it around by then. Hope everyone had a good weekend and that you have a good week!

nursejoan 07-14-2008 01:14 PM

I've been OP for 2 weeks, lost 9 the first week, only 2 the second. My 'coach' thinks I'm doing something wrong, but I think I'm doing fine since I haven't cheated once since I started. I think my body just thinks I'm trying to starve it and the weight loss will pick up again soon. (Coach is a man, too, so they haven't a clue how women's bodies lose weight!!) Besides, I'm perimenopausal and in my PMS week. I usually gain 3-4 pounds that week, so I think I'm ahead of the game!!!

Have a great week, everyone!!

Gatorgrl 07-14-2008 01:21 PM

Nursejoan...My first week OP I lost 8 lbs and the 2.5 the next week and 2.5 the next...don't worry. I was told the first week is mostly just getting rid of water weight and then you only really lose 2-3 lbs a week after, sometimes more but the average is 2-3per week. I actually did not lose any one week and I stayed OP. Sounds like you are on track, keep up the good work and don't worry what that man says;)

Operator265 07-14-2008 03:24 PM

Congrats on the date Jen. I'm so excited for you!!!!

Romans-You can get a ticker after 30 days and 30 posts, so keep coming back.

Joan-I'm really not impressed with the MF Coaching thing. It seems like a good way to save money, but I'm not really sure what the qualifications are to become a coach. It seems like you just have to go so many months OP to do it. That's not alot of experience, except with what works for the person themself. And I certainly agree with you that a male coaching a woman isn't a good situation. You might want to stick with the nutritionists or maybe talk to your own GYN.

Ruth-We've had a couple of Canadians, but I think they may have gotten frustrated by trying to get the stuff in Canada. Hard time getting coupons and such(which I think is bogus). I'm not sure though. Hopefully one will see you post and check in.

Gator-I've been able to dump the pop but not the coffee. I have to drink a cup everyday to prevent migraines. Coffee shouldn't have an effect on your loss though, maybe popcorn(depends on how much butter). Besides, Slipping every once in awhile is OK. We still have to enjoy our lives. It's more about not letting the slips become an everyday thing.

Today is official weigh in day. 176. I only lost one lb., but I've really been working out alot more this week. I did my two free appts at Curves(I'm going to join when I get back from Reno Aug. 3.) Also, on the days I didn't go to Curves, I walked about 25 min in my neighborhood. I can definately see the difference in my shape. I'm going to have to start taking my measurements.

On :soap:
Oh, I also got a pair of Earth Shoes, and OMG!!! http://www.earth.us/ If the feeling in the back of my shins, the front of my thighs and my butt are any indication, they work great. I swear I am standing up straighter(confirmed by DD who didn't know about them) and I can feel more oxygen in my lungs.

At $120 it puts alot of people off, but I've always been willing to spend on good shoes. The costs of cheap shoes is just too high, ie. pain, Chiropractors, headaches, scooters when your 60, etc. My mom worked on her feet in a post office and drilled the importance of good shoes into me.
Off :soap:

Well, I've gotta go shower and get ready for graves. I HATE GRAVES!!! Love Y'all. Keep up the faith.

LiLi Gettin Thin 07-14-2008 08:47 PM

Jen, congrats on the date! That's so exciting! Here's looking for the next one to be even better!

NurseJoan, yeah the first week there is always a big drop. Don't be discouraged if you don't lose that much again. My first week I lost 4.5lbs and have been consistently 0.5-2.5lbs/week since...haven't seen anything larger since that first week. And your coach has to be smoking crack or something to think you've done anything wrong. MF NS has said time and time again that you often will lose very little after a week where you had a big loss. Perhaps you should contact someone about switching coaches? Doesn't sound like he knows what he's talking about.

So, I'm very excited to be transitioning. Today was the first day of the second week, so I was able to reintroduce fruit. I think I went a little overboard. I had probably twice as much as I should have and spent $40 in fruit alone at the grocery because I was so excited about it...kind of like how you shouldn't go shopping when you're hungry I guess. I tried to stick to the lower glycemic index fruit like strawberries, but I did get some grapes too...and went a little crazy on them once I got home. Oh well.

The only really bad thing about transitioning is, of course, no weight loss which is kind of discouraging. I gained a pound also, but I think it's water weight since I'd eaten a lot of salty stuff yesterday...and had a few bites of soft-serve ice cream. Yes, I know...Oh well...it was my first real cheat in several weeks and since I'm transitioning I better get used to temptations. I also look on the bright side, I only had a few bites and felt satisfied. Used to I would have had a huge serving and still would have wanted more. So, I'm counting it as a victory! :D

missygith 07-15-2008 05:02 PM

Ok LiLi, What an awesome thing to say... ("since I'm transitioning I better get used to temptations. I also look on the bright side, I only had a few bites and felt satisfied. Used to I would have had a huge serving and still would have wanted more. So, I'm counting it as a victory!")
*
I love that attitude! I just got back from taking my boys to a cabin and walking around all the cool areas for NW washington and what a blast! I did have a few bites of their french fries and thought "oh no, this is so bad... no, this is not the end of the world, i only had about 6 or 7 of those little buggers and I know this and I will be back OP NOW! ;) Well, it worked, mostly, later that night I had a handful of popcorn, but the next day, yep, back OP! I found it was harder when there was so much travel food around, chips and munchies and such. I need to rethink the whole travel food thing.
:hyper:
Anyways, Jen, 3 HOURS! Holy crap! you stayed and talked with him for 3 hours! That is promising! ;) Zowee! Thanks for giving us more detail. Its been so long since my last first date. I love it! I cant wait to hear updates.
:running:
Operator, Earthshoes or Fitflops? Now, youve gotten both recently, right? Which one do you like more? And wow, have fun in Reno! hit it big then come back and buy us all a box of shakes! lol
:lifter:
Ok, lastly, (blah, blah, blah) Ive made a mad commitment! I just ordered 8 weeks of food! Oh my Goodness and mercy! It was justifiable... #1. Im down 9 pounds! (weekly weigh in tommorrow) #2. You get a really good selection #3. Its a lot cheeper to buy more! (just like costco, right!) Well, my dh liked the savings, alot. So, we made this deal at the beginning of my program... $10 for every pound lost goes into an envelope for a new tattoo, (they are really pricey these days) So my logic was... since your giving me bucks for every pound lost, you need to save more money by buying more product... well, i was much more elequent and dreamy when I explained it to him. The point is Im stoked about this commitment! Im so on board for 8 full weeks! Yes! Victory is mine! Ah....
Enjoy your week ladies, it has all the potential in the world! Love and hope, Missy

Gatorgrl 07-15-2008 05:21 PM

Hope everyone is having a good day! Yesterday was not a great OP day...my DH is out of town so the kids and I went out with my mom for dinner and then I came home and late last night I had some crackers. Oh well, back OP today. We were out all day so we ate lunch out, I had a salad and I will do shakes tonight since DH is still out of town I don't have to cook a meal for the kids they can eat hotdogs (thankfully I don't eat those).
I have my final weigh in at Duke on Fri and I am nervous about having to transition for the study. I know that with support and determination I can keep losing though
