Talking DAILY.... Thursday 27 September

Hallo everyone.

I am still alive and kicking. Been doing some research on Sugar Busters but cant find the book to read. However I stayed OP for the whole time and lost another 2lbs and feeling great.

The reason I was reading about Sugar Busters is because I felt I need some fiber to keep me more regular. Instead I found a pill that you take before every meal that will brake down the food and keep you regular called something enzymes… (Cant remember the name, must blame it on my hormones)

It was my dh birthday on the 24th. We invited some friends to come over for the afternoon. I made some snack and baked some cakes. (I did not even licked one finger) I decided I also need something sweet to enjoy, and came up with the following:
I took 1 can of ideal milk (refrigerated overnight to be cold) Whipped it up and mixed it with some cooled sugar free strawberry diet jelly ( I did not make a crust for the tart and only sprayed the bowl with “spray and cook” so that it does not stick. After is sets in the fridge I decorated it with some fresh strawberries and whipped cream. Everyone loved it. ME TO. smug:
Next time I am going to try different flavor.

I did not feel deprived of anything and stayed OP.

A colleague of mine noticed that I am losing weight and wanted to know what diet I am following. She also started with Atkins and lost 4lbs so far.

(Only 1 pond then I am out of the 200’s)

Hi Hensa! and....HAPPY BIRTHDAY to you!!!! Your desert recipe sounds wonderful!!!

I had a good low carb day yesterday...I seem to be taking one day at a time. I had been carbo loading and just felt awful. Amazing that I still need to be reminded how bad all that high carb food makes me feel. Hopefully another good day today.

wood is on sale! today so I am going to take a run over to the craft store and buy some more big snowmen and trees. I might even take a try at a couple of Santas. I can base coat pretty well but turn into a bowl of sugar free jello when I have to do the faces. I'll get there yet!

Anyone want to go shopping?

Have a good one chickies...eat protein...it makes you feel better!

Good morning to all!

Just got up with intentions of walking on the treadmill but I am feeling pretty crappy this morning, sore throat headache etc. I think it may be the weather change..it was 80 her 3 days ago. This morning it is 39 with a high expected of 73. Sunny and beautiful tho.

I am struggling since the weekend away. I ate terrible yesterday and felt awful to prove it.

Today is back on track day.....

Work has sort of calmed down. We are still laying off some people but it looks like I may be safe for the time being.

It is a roller coaster. Just like life I guess.

I hope everyone has a great day.

Thursday! Whew!

The cool weather is here, and hot coffee tastes good this morning. I have a quiet day today, some paperwork and submitting some statistics for meetings tomorrow.

I am doing Ok for the past 2 days-yesterday, I brought a protein shake made with just a little choc protein powder, and half and half with coffee and extra splenda. It wasn't too bad and it kept me out of the M&M's in the afternoon! Today I added some psyllium to it to see if the thicker texture helps. Always looking for ways to get my fiber in!

Here's some BIG news! Those who know me should sit down! It is "E" news-

ZAN! After reading about the trampoline, I went to Sports Authority last night and got one! Like you said, it was $39.99, and it was fun! I feel it in my calves this morning. I wasn't sure if it's for the cardio or what, so looked on the net, and found all these sites, calling it "rebounding!" Have you read this stuff!! It is like a cult! Lymphatic stimulation, cell repair, electrical conduction improves! What is all that? Do you believe it, or do you just do it for the cardio of jogging in place?

So, protein again today, and water, water, water...

dottie

have a good one all!

Morning ladies,

Well my evening went smoothly. The kids got to their destinations, I know I should not fret about things like that so much.

I had a great dr visit last night. I love my doctor! He supported the lc woe. We had a long talk and he was very honest with me. He believes that health should be measured by how healthy our body actually is and not by dress size. His wife has battled overwieght for most of her life, she works out about an hour a day and eats right, she is not skinny but he considers her healthy. We also discussed depression and he feels that I may be suffering from depression. He discussed many symptoms, including, irritability, fatigue, sence of hopelessness, crying often, and mood swings. I have all of these, but considered them normal. He provided me with some liturature and a prescription for prozac. He decided on prozac because it often shows some weight loss when taken. We will discuss weight loss drugs, if necessary in 6-9 months when we have treated the depression.

I feel good today, kinda at peace, though I did cry all the way to work because of my feeling of relief. Sometimes I just think I am an emotional basket case!

Enough about me.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY HENSA! That special treat sounded marvelous!

Peachie are you considering dooing some crafting
Howze Jif been doing?

staying op,

jenny

Default What a Bunch of Early Chicks!

Believe me - I did get up early too - 5:45 - but have changed my morning routine a bit. Little Mother needs her walk first thing so we set off in the rain this a.m. Stopped for a coffee at the local restaurant - Hershey is considered a non-dog there so she can come in. She lies under the table very quietly with just the odd thump thump of her tail when someone new joins us. The health inspector is never around that early in the day so we are safe.

I'm heading into a busy season with the Fair Board - our fiscal year end is Sept 30 so I have a herd of accounting to do - and catch up on! And I'm still out over $3000 on the August bank reconciliation! Duh! At least the bank thinks we have $3000 more than I do - and I always assume the bank is right! Guess I have to do some concentrated bean counting in the August records!

Peachie, when you said "wood on sale" I was thinking firewood as it is sure chilly these mornings. We try to hold out until Canadian Thanksgiving before lighting the woodstove but if it gets below freezing, I just may go for it early! It's been raining the past three mornings which always makes things seem colder.

Hensa - nice to see you - have missed you. Good work on staying so OP. Hope your DH really enjoyed his birthday.

Jenny, I'm glad you finally got to your doc. He sounds like a keeper. Ditch the depression and then work on dieting - good advice!

Dottie - a trampoline? That actually sounds like a lot of fun. Try not to get into the cult thing, however.

Scooby2, sorry you are feeling so crappy! Good news about work, however - so hard to do your job in uncertain times.

Hope everyone has an excellent day. I am going to spend the day on the homefront catching up on paperwork and maybe even practicing piano.

Boy, everyone is up and at em early this morning, aren't they?

Ruth, I've already got the woodstove going--been very cold the last few mornings and I can't stand it in my popsicle house!

Jenny, glad to hear you had a frank discussion with your doctor, so rare that we are able to have a chance to do that with our physicians. Not to sound like a dirty rag in the whites, but there are so many other effective medications than taking Prozac. Prozac, at least for me, lowered my libido, gained weight, and I felt like a zombie because all other emotions were blocked out. I sincerely do hope it works for you, but if it does become a problem, do go back and renegotiate another med that's lighter on the side effects, OK?

Dottie, having a vision of you bouncing, bouncing, bouncing away....

Oh Scooby, it's rough when you're the one of the few left and your friends are all gone. My dh went through that a year ago and I swear we all put on more weight becasue of the stress of it all. Hope things work out for you and the dust settles at work!

Hey Peach, I'm doing the same thing, I'm attaching all sorts of wooden ornaments to my gifts this year to give a little added oomph to my wrapping! I love to paint and I found so very cutie snowmen and santas at my local craft shop.

Happy Birthday to you Hensa, that desert sounds lovely!

Still suffering TOM and I was so exhausted yesterday I kept my wee one in daycare all day. I go to see the docotr tomorrow and we are going to have a frank discussion about my periods and what is going on with them. Currently, I am going 2 weeks per cycle and it's been going on for a year now. I feel there's something really wrong and I'm going to demand an ultrasound and further testingto find out whatthe problem is. Initially when I brought it to him, he felt it was the anxiety disorder but I know now that it is more than that. Dh and I really want aother baby and it can't happen unless the plumbing is alright!

Have a great OP day everyone!

Hensa- I'm right there with you! Tues. I was able to get on my scale at work (a Dr's scale) and put the bottom wt. on 150! I had to move the top wt. up to the 50 so I still weighed 200 but atleast I won't have to start at 200 anymore!! That's 8 lbs. now for me. Just waiting for that 10 lb. mark. But....TOM is coming soon
Mantra for the next week: "Stay off the scale, stay off the scale"

Dondar-Glad you talked with your Dr. I agree with Pookie about not being afraid to try different drugs until you find the one thats right. I always thought the feelings you are feeling were normal too. Even though I couldn'T stay on the Prozac (I felt I was having panic attacks all day) I still noticed a change in my feelings pretty quickly. Zoloft worked for me (although after a few years I had no libido either) Remember most of these drugs take awhile to work so hang in there. I remember asking my Dr. "Is this what "normal" really feels like?" It was such a relief. Good luck.

Dottie- I love a trampoline, but everytime I jump I pee my pants!!

Pooky-If you don't mind me asking, how old are you? My periods have been really weird for a couple years too. Although they are always on time, I can be really heavy day 1, none on day 2, spot day3, heavy day 4.....never know what to use!! I'll be curious what your Dr. says. (BTW, I'm 38. My mom had her "change " early)

OH Pooky,

Loved that dirty rag in the whites line, I will have to use it myself. My doc has already lined me up for a 4 week check up to see how things are going.

thanks for the wisdom,

jenny

Default I hate my scale.

You know, the scale that tells you that no weight has been lost in a couple of weeks even though you're clothes fit differently, you're staying OP and drinking all your water! Eye-yi-yi. Why are the NUMBERS so important to me?

It sounds like everyone is up and at-em today. We work up very, very early this morning to take my parents to the airport. They are going to Southern California for a benefit fish fry. Should be a great time for them. Although, I'm still too nervous to get on an airplane.

The weather in Portland is nice today after two miserable days of rain. I've been kind of cold lately, so I ordered a featherbed to go with my new down comforter and flannel sheets. So, hopefully I won't be freezing this winter! LOL!!

I hope you all are having great days! Happy birthday to Hensa's hubby (if I read it properly)!

Good day to all those to come yet.

Default Hello from Scotland

I was going to wish Hensa a happy birthday as so many of you did, but on rereading her post I see she says it was her dh's birthday. Hope I got that right. Happy BD to your DH, Hensa. You did good.
Today, #1 daughter and I decided to be really brave and 'do' Edinburgh Castle, a gigantic monolith on top of a hill at the top of the Royal Mile. First you have to hike a couple of blocks just to get to it and then comes the real work. You are issued headsets and at each point of interest you punch in a number and are told all about that particular historical feature. Guess what! I made it all the way to the top and what a spectacular view from there, even though the wind was kinda chilly. I actually found coming down was harder than going up and my hips were really aching by the time we straggled home.
I finally talked #2 daughter and her DH (who live here in Edinburgh in a tiny apartment) into letting me buy them a new sofa. They were really pinching pennies when they first moved here in January so the only seating they have in their living room is an IKEA wooden fold out cot with a hard pad on it. Too bad the new sofa won't be delivered for about 5 weeks after I'm long gone from here. We had a good time picking it out anyhow.
Tomorrow, all four of us are driving to Oban, on the west coast north of Glasgow to stay in a B&B for a long weekend. Keep your fingers crossed that we have decent weather for our trip to the seashore.
I was hoping to post a photo but it looks like my pix are all too large for this format. Sorry about that. I had a great shot of a bagpipe player with his kilt blowing in the breeze.
