You Silly Kids

  • Hi everyone, I'm new here and just scanning the threads. What exactly is a low carb diet? Is it also high in protein?
  • Welcome, Kolika
A low carb diet is a diet in which we reduce the number of carb grams and replace them with protein and some fat grams.
Lots of info is available. Low carb plans range from Atkins which is the most strict (only 20 carbs a day for induction) to other plans which allow 15-20 grams per meal.
Folks on this board vary in their plans - some of us are on a strict plan and others are just cutting back on carbs.
Hang out for a while - lots of knowledge and support in this special chicken coop.
  • Welcome Kolika like ruth said hang out. it may seem like an impossible feat but I who is Italian and grew up on pasta and bread with butter can do it easily it is not as herd as you may think and the feelings are absolutly great. I do not want to push but to let you know that it is VERY doable even if you think that you could never give up th bread. I do not miss it!!!
  • thanks!! I was talking to a customer and he said he lost 12lbs in 10 days eating high protein, meats, cheese, eggs, some salad but no vegetables, no fast foods, no fruits, no breads, a little mayo and a little bit of dressing on plain salad (possibly with cheese). So is this sound about right for this type of diet???
I appreciate the response, you both seem so nice and it's refreshing!!
  • Sounds possible for a MALE starting on this diet for the first time.
"Results may vary" as they say in the fine print. Sounds like he was on Atkins to me.
    Next question, please. LOL!
  • Yeah, a man probably would loose weight. I read somewhere men can't get cellulite. I wonder where the justice is in that? I tried for 2 days to not eat bread. One would think that was so easy, but I didn't realize how much bread I eat!!! Hopefully tomorrow I'll try again!!!
  • HEY!!!!!!!!
No waiting for tomorrow. Youy can get back on track now! It's best to take these things one meal at a time - even one bite at a time! Plan a low carb supper and drink lots of water.
    Hugs
