Arrow Daily, Tuesday Sept 4th!

Coffee?

See that big grin? That is me in anticipation of tomorrow being the first day of school! I love my little ones to pieces but I am really looking forward to some "me" time and getting back on track to healthier living.

Have to take a ride to the little guy's school and drop off his meds. This year he will be on the bus. Remember last year? We put him on the bus and dh followed it and the little guy jumped out and ran at the first stop! That was his last bus ride!!! This year hopefully we got smart and got an aide written up in his IEP. Today I will clean off their bulletin boards and purchase the obligatory new Old Navy shirts for school. Short sleeve, no collars and they MUST be soft or they scream bloody murder.

Need to do the refrigerator... Hate that! and take inventory. I am going to go back to induction Atkins levels on tomorrow.

What are you doing today? Anyone have a good recipe for wings? no sugar?

later, chickies! have a good one!

Default Happy New Year!!!!!!!

Good morning Peachy and Scooby2 and chicks to follow. The Tuesday after Labour Day always feels like the first day of a new year to me!

More darn tomatoes to tackle this a.m. but that will keep my mind off my bladder. I am going for an ultra-sound at 1 this afternoon, no food for 8 hours before and 60 oz. of water. How's that for timing? (I foiled them and got up for a breakfast at 5:30.) Now no fretting over the test, chickies, just trying to pin down why I am spotting. Old hens on HRT are not supposed to do that.

Rainy morning and the first day of school here. Those poor parents who are digging out the rainwear right about now. It should not rain on the first day of school! That's as mean as raining on Hallowe'en.

DH is up! Guess he smelled my real bacon! Will check in later. gonna sneak in another coffee - that's not food, is it?

Hi all!

I am back from a brief unplanned absence. So Sorry to be away for so long. Spent two week traveling with a guy
from work. It was two weeks of
H*##. Not to go into any details except to say that the trips certainly added to my stress levels. The only good that came of the trips was my visit to Portland Oregon. What a lovely place! I loved looking at the mountains.

My boys began school last Monday. Boy is it nice to have them both in school full time, Darren just began 1st grade and Don is now in 3rd. I am really proud of them, they both love going to school. Well, with school starting so does soccer and tennis lessons. No more free evenings.

I will have to catch up on my reading here.

see ya later,

jenny

Angry Good Morning!!

It's a wonderful day in the neighborhood!! Sun shining, birds singing and DH left the office so I can visit a bit!

Peach~~I know what you mean about the back to school feeling! I looooovvve my kids so much BUT having those few hours during the day is sooooo nice! I do my housecleaning in the morning just so I can enjoy it before they get home! lol

Ruth~~Please keep us updated on the ultra sound! Wish I was closer, I'd gladly take some of those fresh tomatoes off your hands!

Scooby~~WTG on the excercising! I'm carless this morning so no gym for me! I think I'll do good ol'Richard tho!

DonDar~~ I'm so glad you're back!! I was really getting worried about you! You were here and suddenly gone! You've really been missed! Sorry the trip was so stressful!

Taking DIL to the grocery store (or should I say she's taking me). DSS started into real estate two months ago and still no income, so, guess who gets to pick up the slack?? Bought them alot of meat at Sams yesterday and will pick up other needed items at the grocery today. Good thing they live in our "rent" house or we'd be paying their rent too. Well, I guess in a way we are, huh? Grocery trip, cleaning out fridge (I hate it too Peach~never know what's gotten shoved behind what--scary!), Richard and I need to get some excercise in, then it'll be time for the dinner hour.

I'll check back in with ya'll later! Have a great OP day!

Default Hi, everyone

I have been busy, busy, busy trying to finish all the painting and other projects at home before my kids got back. Knew I wouldn’t finish everything, but I did OK. Their rooms are tidy, if not completely done.

The kids are great – my son must have grown 3 inches. (4.5 if you count the spiked hair, which is now newly bleached at his request by yours-truly!) He starts school tomorrow, and my baby girl just started kindergarten!

I also held a potluck in honor of some friends who have just moved back to the area after 9 years on the West Coast. It was a great time – they got to meet all my friends with kids the age of theirs, and made some good personal and professional contacts. This was the whole point of the thing, but guess what everyone brought? Pasta Salad! Not kidding – everyone! Except, of course the family who brought fresh corn ;-)

I am so completely off/p it’s not funny, but I will hopefully get a good jump start tomorrow. Have to take my son to first soccer scrimmage tonight, and there’s a big market nearby. By bedtime tonight, my fridge will be filled with healthy food only!

Wish I could answer everyone, but that would be impossible – turn your back for a few days and so much happens!

Hope you are all doing well with all the end of summer transitions.

Best to everyone ...
Barb

Hi,

DH & I had a great long weekend in New Orleans, unfortunately I discovered some wonderful low-carb chocolate while there. I ate 55 carbs worth of it Friday! I was good with my eating, exercise & water for the rest of the weekend & lost 3.5 lbs & 3". yay!

Jenny - Glad you're back! You were missed.

Welcome to all the newcomers!

Don't have a lot of time, hope everyone is well.

Jennifer

Hi,
Sounds like lots of us are making fresh starts! I was trying to do WW/LC, but it just wasn't working! Or I should say I probably wasn't making it work. I was starving all the time. So, I started fresh on CAD this morning. It feels like I'm home!

MamaJ - My son's weekend went pretty well. I was pleased with how well actually! He had a great time and was pretty responsible. There was a vodka soaked watermelon there (which he actually told me about!) and he tried a little bit and decided it wasn't for him. The guys all wore protective gear (I'm talking about paintball here for those of you who missed my dilemma!) and he only has a couple of cute little round bruises. Of course, he wants to do this a lot more now.
My weekend on the other hand, was totally frustrating. Have any of you tried to buy couches lately? I swear there are very few to choose from! Everything the furniture stores offer is pillowback style or icky and full of coolers and vibrating pillows and other wierd stuff. That's just not for us. I can just see pillows everywhere and my dogs chewing on them. I don't think so! The leather I like is more than I'm willing to spend and I don't like the cheap leather. With two kids, three dogs, two cats and my husband and me our in the country we have to have furniture that can take serious abuse! I've ordered a slip cover catalog!

I'm out of time, but thanks for letting me whine.

Oh Wow! It sure is great to see some long-lost faces. Welcome back, everybody. We sure have been missing you.
This morning I checked my box of Okanagan peaches to see if they were ready for canning. Darned if about four of them in the bottom of the box hadn't begun to rot (and they weren't even ripe yet). So I picked them out (YUCKY) and made jam out of the ripest ones. One batch of cooked jam and one batch of freezer jam, both lower cal. I still have some ripening and I think I'll just slice and freeze them for pies.
The paving company finally came and paved our driveway today. This has been the longest running project in history, I think but so glad to see it finally accomplished.
Waiting for a friend to show up for afternoon tea so I guess I'd better go and tidy up my disaster area kitchen. Just wanted to see who all had been into the henhouse so far today.
Ruth, hope all goes well with your ultra-sound. Keeping fingers crossed for you (and legs crossed thinking about holding in all that water!! )

Chin up, Sue!!

Drink lots of water & eat fat/protein & you'll feel better physically in no time.

I'm sorry about your patient and your job, but again stick to your eating and exercise plans so you can keep your emotions even and you won't have to stress over breaking your diet on top of everything else.

I don't know about where you live, but RNs are in great demand here. Based on your posts you are a caring person who loves what she does, which I'm sure your patients, co-workers & supervisors recognize so you'll have no problem getting good references and some other company will scoop you up in no time!

Take care,
Jennifer

Sorry to be MIA most of yesterday and today--my server sometimes goes down for days at a time and causes me to unending stress!!!

Tomorrow is the big day for Miree--back to preschool. She only goes Mon, Wed,and alternate Fridays but in Novemeber we'll reevaluate how that's working for us and I might up the times. She absolutely loves it there and she gets to play with all the kids. I personally can't wait, she's driving me crazy!!!

Big news on this front, I managed to convince my dh to do low carbing with me!!! We weighed in yesterday, I'm 210 and he's 226. We are doing it together and it feels so good to do something that we kow will benefit us both. I'm so happy! So far so good, it's water, water everywhere and lots of protein! We want to kick start ourselves by a 3 day veg and protein diet and then switch to CALP.

Glad to see the regulars come back to the group and now we can have the great push to lose together! YEAH!!!

Tuesday evening- it's good to be home!

I got a flat tire yesterday, so spent part of this afternoon waiting at the Goodyear dealer for 2 hours just to patch it! A 5 minute job, but it blew the afternoon! Hate that, it feels like such a waste of time. But I went and got a big iced coffee and watched the tennis on tv, and still made it home by 5:30.

Started out good with bacon and eggs, but that's as far as mayo went today. Little party at work, nothing horrible, but lets just say, there was no grapefruit consumed! Tonight was fine, and overall a perfectly acceptable day! I can live with that.

Glad to see Jenny and Chickadee and the Other Jennifer(JPH) back, as well as barb, scooby2 and all you "oldies" Hi Linda, Peach, Pooky, Ruth, Janice and Sue!

My posting is always brief during the week, so just "hi" and be good! Drinkin' water,

dottie
