Starting us up!

Coffee is on and boy is it going to be nice today, the humidity is on its way out and the temps will be in the 70s today.

Had a great day at the Brookfield Zoo with my boys, mom, sister and brother from Washington. The boys were well behaved we had loads of fun. I think the heat kept the crowds away from the zoo, but it was nice not to have to battle the crowds. When we left the park, my brother noticed my car thermometer and it read 101 F

Peach, I look forward to a meeting at the zoo next year, hopefully AdoAnnie will join us! And anyone who may be in the nearby area! What a blast that would be!

Results have come back on all my testing for shortness of breath and everything was normal. Still have a cough from that darn Pulmonary Function Test, yuck! I just have to watch my stress level and be aware of my irregular heartbeat.

AdoAnnie, hope your son is done with football, it seems criminal for anyone to be holding practices in all this heat. In Kazoo we are holding some Jr Tennis Championships and the headlines have not been about who is winning, but who has been taken to the hospital for heat related problems.

Spot would love to watch one of Bry's games. You must be so proud!

I would have called it Fried Friday! We are still hot and humid here - send some of the Midwest stuff this way, please. Sure hope things cool off a bit soon as tempers are getting a bit frazzled around here - male tempers, that is.

Hershey and I took off for the Island yesterday afternoon - diet gingerale and a schlock book. Very relaxing - Hersh swam a lot and always came back to me to shake so that was refreshing.
Last night we went to a friend's cottage on another Lake for BBQ - great evening and a lovely cool breeze. (Plus wonderful steak and salad!)

Today is a stay-at-home morning but will brave the trip to town this afternoon to buy a new scale. I know, I know - I am a scale addict! Why is it that every time I get a new scale it weighs heavier than the last one? Am prepared for the trauma this time.

Well, I'm lucky to be back here at all today since yesterday I was hospitalized!!!

I was in Walmart (go figure) in Orillia and picking up a few things and waiting for my car to be ready at the jiffy lube because I needed an oil change badly. Got to the Layaway counter and over I go--massive anxiety attack. I swear I looked like a Parkinson's patient, that's how bad it was. Ambulance came and got me (very embarrasing being wheeled out of Walmart) and took me to the closest hosptal. Since I know I have anxiety disorder and yes, I had taken my medication, the doctor figures that because of the extreme heat and the amount of fluids I had been taking in to offset the heat, I probably flushed out all of the medication from my system. Isn't that just special???? So now I have to up my dosage of Paxil during extremely hot weather and I have to take Clonazapam to calm me down long enough for the Paxil to take effect again.

Don't worry about me now, I am OK and taking it easy today if I need to. The only up side to all this was that I was able to lose 3 pounds in 3 days although I don't recommend heat exhaustion and an anxiety disorder to do it! Far too much pain for such a small gain!

Much releived that today is a beautiful day and lovely cool breezes--literally a perfect summer day. I did manage to get my shopping done this morning and I have been cleaning the house the rest of the time. Tonight is my neighbour's daughter's 21st birthday and we are going over for Chinese and ice cream cake! Yes, I'm going to have some, I deserve a little treat after all I've been through!

I do hope that you are doing well today, sounds better from your post. Where was little Miree? That darn heat has caused so many problems, I would not be surprised if it may be a contributing factor to my breathing problems.

HI Jenny, Yeah, Miree was with me--she rode in the ambulance and the hospital volunteer took care of her until my hubby could come and get us. Thank God for volunteers--she was truly amazing! Miree was scared at first but then she just rode on my tummy while we were on the way to the hospital.

I really am feeeling a lot better today--anxiety attacks are quick to recover from but tremendously scary when you go through them.

Wow, Pooky, that must have been some experience! Glad you got medical attention and that your doc has changed your meds. I often wonder if all the water we drink isn't flushing good, helpful stuff away as well as the bad. Something to think about but for heaven's sake, please don't have an anxiety attack about it!

Very warm here today but nobody is complaining too much (yet). We had such a miserable, wet, cool July that everyone is just lapping up the mid-80s weather. For some reason we don't get the terrible humidity you suffer in the east so it's not too uncomfortable. Still, I close all the blinds and windows in the house by mid-morning to keep the heat out. I have a fan blowing in the room right now but I could do without it. No A/C needed here except possibly two days a year when I would kill for it.

Our German guests came by last night and we had a bit of a visit. In all the hullaballo about entertaining them and making sure not to forget #2 daughter's birthday today (the one who lives in Scotland) I totally forgot that yesterday was #1 daughter's 15th wedding anniversary!! Sheesh! Where is my brain? I have ordered flowers to be delivered but they won't get them until tomorrow. Also sent them a funny, sexy e-card so hopefully I'll be forgiven. The silly thing is, I was even talking with her on the phone yesterday AND I'd mentioned just the other day to someone that her anniversary was this week. DUH!!
Put it down to senility, I guess.

That sounded like a pretty scary ordeal! Glad to hear you are on the mend.

I too have wondered about taking meds and then drinking a swimming pools worth of water. I usually take my vits, etc. right before bedtime cuz I won't be guzzling in my sleep and so maybe they will have a chance to get into my system. I know this doesn't work for all meds, tho.
