LCFS Jan 23rd-30th

HI everyone,
It's been a long day for me. Stripe is a holy terror at night and will not sleep. He's really getting on my nerves. Marty finally saw what it was like last night. I'm not sure what we will do with him. I'm thinking he will need to be declawed and then I can shut the bedroom door, turn the sound machine on high and let him rip through the house. As it is now, if I shut the bedroom door, he tears the carpet to pieces outside the door until someone opens it.

I am in shock, Lynn. DH has been helping me everyday now. Folding laundry, helping me carry in groceries, doing dishes. It's really kind of nice.

I made a turkey for supper, no dressing. Just some mashed potatoes and gravy and green beans. I was able to limit myself and am full even though I didn't eat that much. It's so much cheaper to make a turkey, I really think I'll start to do it more often.

Hope your all having a good weekend. Talk to you later, Nikki

chocolatecatz 01-23-2005 10:33 PM

My cat used to do the same thing. I read a great book called Cat vs. Cat ( we have three of them).

It said that cats have a routine...t eat, hunt, sleep...anyway...after i read it i started playing with my cat for about 10-15 minutes before going to bed..i found that it tired her out and she pretty much slept through the night..no more crying or scratching..she gets up to eat, and use litter box but goes right back to sleep..

the book also said cats need 2 - 15 minute sessions of play time with their humans...i took a string from my pyjama bottoms and she loves it!! i just pull it along make her chase it she grabs for it i let her nibble on it then snatch it away again...you have to let him catch it once in a while that ispart of the hunting process..when he catches if just wiggle it a little..its like the prey is trying to get away..

we also had turkey tonight..i just had turkey, with some baken 2 tbs of rice..i had my carbs in the form of coke ahahahahah

im not feeling well..hopefully ill get down to my goal of 220 by end of week

nikkic 01-23-2005 11:52 PM

Hi Chocolatecatz,
Thank you for the cat advice :sunny:. I have 3 cats myself. Stripe, the devil cat, plays all day. We play with him a lot, even when we don't want to. He will chase us and tease us until we do play with him. We also have one of those toy birds on a string that is attached to a little stick, it's his favorite toy. I think I figured out the reason he's going nuts at night, I heard a mouse :mouse: in the wall. He really wants it badly. We do play with him before bed, but it just seems like you can never play with him enough.
Stripe is the orneriest and the smartest cat I've ever known. We love his spirit and his sense of humor. I can't tell you how many cats I've had in my life, probably over 100. At different times, I've had up to 25 at one time. At work, they use to call me cat woman

What plan are you following? I am currently doing Weight Watchers. I've done many of the low carb plans and finally, decided to just try this for awhile. It seems to be working for me. The reason I'm still here, on the low carb board is, I've been posting on this thread for several years now, so it's kind of like home to me. Besides, I might go back to low carbing eventually anyway.
This thread is posted weekly (LCFS stands for low carb freestyle), there are 3 other gals that post here too. We post on the same thread all week. There is another thread on the low carb board that is the daily thread, which is a different group of very nice ladies. Thought I'd just mention that, because your new and since there are lots of groups on 3FC's, it can get confusing. Your welcome to join us :balloons:

Good morning,
It got awfully cold here during the night. We had a freeze warning. I moved down here to get away from all that!:)

I made the egg crepes on Thurs. to make SS lasagna. I put the crepes in a container and put them in the fridge. On Sat. I started to put the whole thing together and the eggs were starting to get moldy. :censored: So, I had to toss it all away because I had used up all the eggs. The next time I'll freeze the crepes if I'm going to make them ahead of time.

Thank you all for the congratulations. Now for the next 5 lbs.:crossed:

Chocolatecatz, WELCOME!!!:balloons: I had 2 cats myself one time. One was a little devil. Both of them have been gone for quite a few years. We can't have anymore becuase DH developed an allergy to them. I'm doing my own plan where I just eat less and move more. I am looking forward to your posts.

Anne, congratulations on another pound.:bravo: :cp: Did you get any of that snow that hit the northeast? I have a cousin who lives on Cape Cod and I just heard that a couple of towns reported 3 ft. of snow.

Lynn, good luck today with your weigh in. How was your weekend?

Nikki, that's great your DH is helping you around the house. Our cats were declawed but they still make a racket whenever there was a closed door. They would sit and pound on the door with their paws. It was good talking with you yesterday. DH told me he would be working until 6:00 when the store closed. So, I thought I had a good 1/2 hr. The store closed at 5:00, and they have to stay 1/2 hr or so to stock the shelves, so he was on his way earlier than he planned. Your turkey sounds good. We had leftover Jalapeno chicken.

Have a great day everyone.
Aleka

ANNE D 01-24-2005 07:27 AM

Hi Everyone:

What a wicked weekend  Tons of cold, freezing weather, this is for
the birds  I was creeping along this morning on my way to work
like Tim Conway when he played the little old man on Carol Burnett!!!
Ever since I took that big flip a couple of years ago I have been very
timid of greasy weather.

Nikki, that is great that you DH is helping you out. I too have a very supportive husband. Between my husband and sons I get alot of help
thank God.

Aleka, I am sitting here at 7am at my desk eating cold roast beef and dipping
it in mayo and horseradish that I have mixed together. It tastes pretty good
too  Not a very conventional breakfast though  I made these
great peanut butter cookies. Such a simple recipe Very few carbs. I keep
them in the freezer for my son and DH who are also trying to stay on program.
This WOE has really helped my husband who has terrrible heartburn all the
time.

Hi Lynn, hope you have a good weigh in!! I bet you are frozen too!!!

Anne.

nikkic 01-24-2005 08:11 AM

Good morning,
Anne, congratulations on another pound lost and on staying on program :D :dancer: :flow2: :cb:
My DH also has bad heartburn. He will not go to the Dr and he won't stay on a low carb diet or SS. I've explained it to him, but he's a junk food junky. Loves all the wrong stuff. He then blamed the low carb food for his indigestion "TOO MUCH FAT" I have considered doing the South Beach or something like it, since it's low carb and lower fat, but I know he won't go for that either. He's too stubborn.

Aleka, I saw that freeze warning for you last night on the weather channel. I always think about the citrus crop when I hear about that. Did it freeze last night? That really is irritating when you plan on making something and then find out the ingredients have gone bad. I've not been eating eggs much anymore and I bet my eggs are all bad too. I should take a look at them. I enjoyed talking to you too.

Lynn, are you snowed in? Bet you have the wood stove cranked :flame:

Morning Chocolatecat, Stripe slept pretty good last night. Maybe he was too tired to stay up and raise  all night. I was certainly glad. I still feel like I could take a nap though.

I've put it off long enough, got to go walk with Leslie. The music really helps, but I have to get some new music. I started to do crunches again yesterday. I like the way it makes my abs feel.

Later, Nikki

alynn 01-24-2005 09:41 AM

Congrat's Nikki on more weight-loss. I was just having my coffee and was catching up on yesterday's posts and had to get on. I have my hair done and will be going to Curves about 11. I am really excited, I think I have lost more than just a few pounds. If you have a mike at work Anne and I'm sure you do I adapted a recipe from the south beach phase 1 board. It was for egg "muffins", I didn't have muffin tins so used a 7X11 pan and started with spraying the pan with butter pam and than sauted enough mixed veggies to make 3 cups than spread that evenly on the pan nuked some bacon (3 slices) crumbled it on top of veggies. Broke 8 eggs into a bowl with 1/2 cup water 1 small onion diced and about 2/3 C of cheese. I also add hot sauce S & P and some basil. Into the oven for 40 min. When it came out I let it cool than cut it in squares and we had some for brunch and the rest I wrapped and put into the fridge wrapped in saran wrap. I just had a square nuked in the mike and I want to tell you it was good. Even better I didn't have to plan breakfast which after a while because we have to eat so many eggs gets sooooo boring. Tomorrow I have to come down to Credit Valley for a bunch of tests and have to leave early. Tonight I will make a salad, some tuna salad than I will take some endive leaves to put the tuna on. So with the egg squares salad and tuna I should be able to stay on track I hope!!!!! Wednesday I am going to do a veggie soup than freeze in serving sizes. Well must get going will be back later

alynn 01-24-2005 09:49 AM

Nikki, There must be some thing in the air. DH did the dishes last night!!!! I couldn't beleive it but I let him. What time were you and Ali on line yesterday. Let me know the next time. Do you leave the messenger on at all times?

aleka 01-24-2005 10:00 AM

Lynn, Nikki & I chatted about 5:30 pm est. I don't normally leave my IM on all the time. I just happened to turn it on and saw Nikki was on line so I IM-d her. I don't know why your smiley face isn't on my list. I'll have to send you and invitation to see if you want to chat. That way I will know when you're online.

Aleka

nikkic 01-24-2005 10:16 AM

I have smiley faces, but I can never tell when your on line, Ali. Did I not do something right when I added you to my list? Your on my list, but the face is always gray and sleeping.
I think it's always funny when Lynn or Anne goes off line. You can hear a door close and there is a little message that says they are off line.
I don't keep my computer on all the time. I log off when I'm done.
I'm usually on line in the evening most nights.

I lost a lb last week. I didn't think I was going to lose anything. Today is my official weigh in day. I couldn't do any walking this morning. The arthritis in my ankle was bothering me too much. We are in for a change in weather, it's suppose to be 42 and sunny today. Hopefully, that will melt some of this ice that is layered on top of everything.

Later, Nikki

aleka 01-24-2005 11:14 AM

Nikki, congratulations on your weight loss!!:dancer: :high: :encore: Sometimes the smiley face next to your name is gray and asleep. Yesterday I saw it was yellow and smiling. Anne's is always gray and asleep, so I figure she's not logged on. For some reason, I don't have Lynn's name or the smiley face on my list. I tried adding it, but I kept getting a message that says she's already in my address book. I just can't get her name or the smiley face to show. Whenever I'm logged onto the IM I get a sound like a door closing and a message that you're going off line too. Sometimes it scares the heck out of me.:D

Talk to you later
Aleka

alynn 01-24-2005 03:06 PM

Hi All: I lost 6 lbs. I am disappointed because I never once strayed from the program. I have to put the slow loss ( expected 9-10 lbs) to my HRT and of coarse age. Oh well better than a pound or 2.right? Talk to you later.

alynn 01-24-2005 03:09 PM

Can't figure out how to move my tracker HELP PLEASE

aleka 01-24-2005 04:14 PM

Lynn, congratulations on your 6 lb. loss! :cb: :cp: :cheer: :hat: 6 lbs. is fantastic!! When I moved my tracker, I started the whole process all over again, putting in my new weight, then copying and pasting it, but make sure you remove your old tracker in the box before you paste your new one in, otherwise you'll end up with 2 trackers. Maybe Nikki knows an easier way to do it.

Take care.
Aleka

chocolatecatz 01-24-2005 04:20 PM

Cats you have to love em!!

I'm doing my own low carb thing. I can never stick to a low carb plan so I decided to make my own up! hahahah

Breakfast is either a protein shake or turkey bacon and egg whites

Lunch: Low carb bread (nature's own 7 carbs a slice) with turkey and cheese

Dinner: veggies, protein and small portion of rice, pasta or whatever carb im making (my family loves CARBS. DH can eat two - three cups of rice at a sitting PLUS BREAD and he stays thin!!!!)

I'll have a snack in between of half a bagel (not low carb) with a slice of cheese.

I find that fruit makes me hungrier so I don't eat too much of that.

To change your weight tracker, go to Quick Links, edit signature then you can change it from there. just be careful because if you delete or add anything else it will mess up ticker. or you could just go and create a new one with the change of weight

nikkic 01-24-2005 05:22 PM

Good afternoon,
Lynn, I think that is a great way to start off, congratulations on the weight loss :cp: :bravo: :high: :cp: :cb: I know how you feel, I want to lose quicker too, but eventually, if we stick with it, we will end up where we want to be. It just might take a little longer than we planned on.
I don't know any other way to move the tracker than what Aleka and Chocolatecat has said. In fact, you helped me, I've never used the quick link before

Chocolatecat, or may I call you Cat for short? Sometimes, the best plan is to do what you think you can stick with. Are you counting your carbs or just eating less? My DH eats about a quart of regular ice cream everyday. He never seems to gain much weight. He's not exactly skinny, but he's not that over weight either. If he eats right for a few days and exercises, he will lose 5 lbs. I eat 1/2 cup of ice cream and I pay for a month trying to exercise that off :tread:

I made an excellent soup for supper. Beef, wine and some low carb veggies. Very delicious, low carb and seems fairly low fat too. If you want the recipe, let me know.

Talk to you all later, Nikki

chocolatecatz 01-24-2005 08:12 PM

no im not counting carbs.. i dont want to feel as if im on a diet haahahahahaha

so ill just eat low carb bread once a day..half a regular bagel as a snack with cheese..then very little carbs for dinner (like tonight i had about 1/4 cup or rice) although i do indulge in half reg/half diet coke with dinner..

being that's it so cold i have been having coffee with splenda..hopefully that wont affect my weight loss..

my weakness is CHOCOLATE!!!! YUMMY!!!!!!!

aleka 01-25-2005 07:35 AM

Good morning everyone,

My ILs are coming for a visit later this morning so got to get the house straightened up a bit before they get here. Thankfully I vacuumed just a few days ago.

Chocolatecatz, your low carb diet sounds good. I have a cousin who has lost 40 lbs. doing her own low carb WOE. In the beginning she ate a lot of Atkins products, but I don't know if she still does. She had me try some and they aren't bad at all. Have you used any of his products? There seems to be mixed signals about coffee. Some people believe it hinders weight loss and there have been articles that say the caffiene in coffee speeds up your metabolism. I didn't know about the quink links either, thanks for the info.

Nikki, your soup sounds delicious. Yes, I would love the recipe. DH & I love beef soup. This would be something I could make and send with him to work, as soup is the only thing he likes to take with him. Did you make it on the stove or in a slow cooker? One year, in the early 80's, DH & I came to FL just after Christmas to visit my late aunt. They were having awfully cold temps. We drove by strawberry fields and all you could see were strawberries covered in ice. That was a very bad year. We haven't heard anything about crops, other than the ones destroyed by the hurricanes.

Lynn, I hope you're still not disappointed about the 6 lbs. That is really fantastic. Have you gotten measured yet? With the exercising you've been doing at Curves and at home, you may have lost more inches than pounds. Speaking of which, I have Leslie's book. It's a walking program. It's outlined a little different than the magazine article. There is even a chapter for people who power walk., which is my goal. She doesn't have an eating plan because she feels that once you are exercising you automatically start making better choices and eating less.

Anne, that's great SS is working for you and your family. There is a recipe on the box of oatmeal I use, for oatmeal raisin cookies. I'm going to make some, but tweak it a little bit. The recipe calls for white flour and real maple syrup, but I'm going to use white whole wheat flour and SF maple syrup. Are you still in a deep freeze?

Hope you all have a good day.
Aleka

alynn 01-25-2005 08:00 AM

Morning All: Just a quick post before we leave for the city. Thanks to you all I think I have changed my tracker. It is a beautiful day here. Bright and sunny although they are calling for snow later. Hope we are back by then. In case we are held up my friend will come in and walk the dog. My appointments are 11:50 and 1 so should be back by 3, all going well. That soup sounds good for when I get off induction next weekNikki, and we love soup. Well must go and get the hot rollers going, yalk to you later.

chocolatecatz 01-25-2005 08:47 AM

Morning everyone!!!!!

ALEKA I've tried the Atkins shakes but I think they are higher in carbs than the ones I use from EAS (French Vanilla only has 2 total carbs).

My sister gave me a bread mix which I haven't tried yet. She also gave me a can of his baking mix, which I haven't tried yet either.

I did try the peanut butter cups (which I think are Atkins) a while back but I found myself eating just as much of those as regular chocolate, so I just decided to limit chocolate overall.

That's great on her weight loss. I can't wait to reach 40lbs. It's tough!

NIKKI I'd like the SOUP RECIPE too. I pm'd you for it last night.

nikkic 01-25-2005 02:48 PM

Good Afternoon,
DH was on the computer most of the morning. If he ever retires, we will have to have 2 computers, I was doing housework all morning trying to keep busy until he logged off. A cleaner house, but I'm pooped

Here's the soup recipe, it's really good. I made it on top of the stove, then transferred to a slow cooker, we weren't ready to eat when the soup was ready. It stayed very nicely for several hours. I made it with the noodles, but the broth is what really makes the soup and I know that mushrooms would taste as good and save some carbs and calories. If you want to stretch it to save even more carbs and calories, add another can or two of broth and 1 more cup of wine.

Beef and Wine Soup
2 tbsp butter (I used 1 tbs of olive oil)
1 cup chopped onion
1 clove garlic, chopped (Aleka, you must use the whole clove :D, now come on it won't hurt  )
3 carrots, chopped (omit if you aren't eating carrots)
1 1/2 cups chopped celery
3 cans condensed beef broth
1 cup wine (I used merlot)
2 cups tomato juice
2 cups diced cooked beef (I used 1 1/2 lbs and I think that was close)
salt and pepper to taste
8 oz of button mushrooms sliced or left whole if small ----or, if your not watching the carbs 8 oz thick egg noodles

In a large pot, saute onions, garlic, carrots and celery in butter or oil until soft, about 6 minutes. Stir in broth, wine, tomato juice and beef. Simmer covered for 20 minutes or until vegetables are tender, season with salt and pepper.
Add mushrooms or noodles and cook until tender.

I've tried lots of those low carb products. Some are better than others. I thought that baking mix was horrible. The Atkins Mint Bar is my favorite. I can't eat just one and be happy, I have to eat the entire box. So, I can't have it in the house.

Cat, I didn't know you'd PM me until I read the post. I usually get an email when that happens.

Well, got lots to catch up on, on the computer, talk to you all later, Nikki

aleka 01-26-2005 08:57 AM

Good morning everyone,

Nikki, thank you for posting the recipe. I've printed it out. I got a good chuckle out of the garlic.  I can make the soup while DH is at work, put the garlic in, and he wouldn't even know it. ;)

Chocolatecatz, it is hard to resist chocolate, or anything sweet. Usually they put malitol in sugar free candies and if you eat too much of it, it can have a laxitive effect. I ate too many sugar free jelly beans one day. :dizzy: I did make some muffins out of one of the Atkins mixes, can't remember which one, though. It really was very good.

Lynn, how did all your tests go yesterday? Hope you got back home early as you had hoped.

Anne, how are things going with you? I forgot to ask yesterday. Did you make SS pizza? If so, how was it?

Have a great day everyone.
Aleka

alynn 01-26-2005 11:08 AM

Good morning All: Well we escaped another winter storm but I suspect Anne had fun getting to work this morning. There is now something coming off Georgian Bay so as we are on the bay we won't escape that!!!! Got up this am and felt really good so by 8:30 I had made a chicken vegetable soup and a egg breakfast to cut up. This one I did Italian to change the flavors a bit. I really like getting up and breakfast is as easy to prepare as toast. I will go to Curves as usual around noon. I printed the recipe Nikki, It does look good. I use garlic in everything Ali, I have it in powder, garlic salt, minced in a jar, pureed in a jar and of coarse cloves. DH is actually starting to like it  You have been talking about shakes and I don't think I told you I HATE the Curves shakes. I paid $26.95 plus GST so am drinking it for the first phaze but will not buy anymore. I much prefer my own that I make with frozen fruit 1% or skim milk and splenda.Well must be going so will talk later.

nikkic 01-26-2005 02:42 PM

Good afternoon,
The site is slow and it took awhile for me to be able to reply.

I have gained a pound. I know that happens, but darn, I hate when it does. I think I'm eating too much bread, even though I'm staying within my points range. I've cut down on my exercise too, so that might be part of it. I'm feeling really tired this week and it's hard to make myself do anything. Anyway, I plan on eating less carbs, more veggies and fruit and to step up my exercise tomorrow.

Lynn, I hated that shake too. I made a special trip to Curves to buy it after I read the book. He said in the book something like- it tasted as good as a real ice cream shake. He must not be drinking the kind of shakes I do.

I was trying to think of low carb convience foods I do like. I still eat Life Choice frozen dinners and Carb Options soup from Walmart. I like them both and they fit into my diet plan now just as well. They taste like real food and the portions are big.

It's a cold, grey day here. Hope you don't get a real bad storm, Lynn. I'm sure ready for spring time, bet you are too.

Later, Nikki

chocolatecatz 01-27-2005 09:24 AM

Morning all!!

Trying not to panic here.

Feeling a bit discouraged. The scale has been inching up and not down!! Don't know what's happening. :(

Could be because I'm approaching that time of month..CURSES.....but I want it to go down.
:?:
So, I think I'll eliminate my half bagel with cheese snack in the afternoon and replace it with one slice of low carb bread w/ cheese and eliminate my low carb bread sandwich. Maybe that will show the scale go down again.
:^:

Exercise has never been a problem..I've exercised these past three days and will do some today as well.

:D  :dizzy: :p

WOOHOOOO!!!! Stay positive!!!

ANNE D 01-27-2005 10:29 AM

Hi Guys:
Lynn, I am getting majorly p.o.'d with this weather. Its all I can do to
creep along and not fall on my :censored:

Nikki, I bet watching the carbs and doing points would be a fantastic combination. I have cut out all eating after dinner. I love to eat in the
evening but it makes sense to me its not a good plan. Don't worry about
the pound, probably hormonal

Cat, hormones will make the weight fluctuate no doubt about it. I always
found that happend to me mid cycle. One of the best ways I know to get
the scales going down is to drink lots of water. It acts as a natural
diuretic (spelling?).

Aleka, I was in GNC yesterday and I bought 7 bottles of Atkins syrup.
They have reduced it to clear and were selling it for $1.06 I love it on
Suzannes pancakes. I haven't tryed the pizza yet, maybe on Sunday.
Talk to you all later.
Anne.

nikkic 01-27-2005 12:02 PM

Good morning,
ARRRGGGHHHH! Gained another pound this morning. What a kick in the butt that was. I decided it was time to get back to stepping up my exercise, no matter how tired or how much I didn't want to (whining does no good). So, I worked out with a tape I've had for years, that uses aerobics with light hand weights. That has gotten too easy. It use to be, after doing it for 15 minutes, I'd be leaning against the wall, panting, now, I'm barely breaking a sweat. Followed that with WATP 3 mile walk. That was more of a challenge, but I'm bored silly with it. Went to Walmart and bought the Body for Life book. I decided to start to work out with weights seriously now. Also, I ordered an exercie ball and video that goes with it, called Core Secrets. I have to get some new things to do.

Anne, I'm not exactly counting carbs, but, I know that I've been eating way too much toast with peanut butter and jelly. So, I decided I better start eating more fresh fruits and vegetables with whole grain cereal instead. That p&J on toast is addiciting and I've been putting way more on the toast than I should.

Cat, I usually gain 5 lbs every time it's my TOM. But, you might be right about the bagel and cheese. I won't cut back on my calories too much, just replace some of the carbs and the cheese with some other things. When I was following a strict low carb diet, I found the cheese and cream was what really messed me up, causing unwanted weight gain. Maybe increase your protein with meat and egg substitutions?

Today is my oldest DD's birthday, she's 27. I can hardly believe my baby is that old. Wow, time goes by quickly. Except when they were teens, then it dragged so slowly, I thought they were never going to grow up.

Lynn and Aleka, hope your having good days. Talk to you all later, Nikki

aleka 01-27-2005 12:10 PM

Good morning..almost afternoon,

Brought Lacee to the Vets early this morning to have her teeth cleaned. The Vet is supposed to call me between noon and 2:00 pm, then I can go and pick her up between 4:00 pm & 5:00 pm. As you can probably guess, I'll be there at 4:00 pm. The girl at the desk explained the Vet had 4 surgeries to do today and as we were leaving 3 more people brought their dogs in. It's really lonesome here without the dog. Notice I didn't say DH??

Cat, I would say that your TOM is the cause of your weight gain. Anne had a good idea about drinking a lot of water. If you want to lower your carbs even more, here is a good satisfying snack. Take a slice or two of turkey lunch meat, spread some cream cheese or put a regular slice of cheese on the meat, roll them up and eat. I haven't tried the cream cheese with any other lunch meat, so don't know how it would go. This really stays with you until your next meal.

Anne, I've never tried any of Atkins syrup. Let me know how it is. I find Davinci sugar free vanilla syrup at Walmart. I really like that on oatmeal. Sorry about all your cold weather. I remember it so well. I know what you mean about being afraid to fall on your :censored: What if you buy some of those things that slip over your boots or shoes so that you can walk on slippery surfaces? I bought DH a pair of those the Christmas before last so that he could walk down to the mailbox on our slippery road.

Nikki, if you're thinking of doing more low carb, why not look into the WW Core program? Some of the posts I've seen, a lot of people are counting points and eating Core foods. I love those Life Choice frozen dinners. They are my favorite. I usually eat the turkey and meatloaf and I can't get over how filling they are compared to Lean Cuisine or WW, and they have about the same amt. of calories. Those Carb Options soup are really good too. Our favorite is the South West Chicken, (or something like that). Don't worry about the lb. you gained.

Lynn, how was Curves yesterday? Your chicken vegetable soup sounds yummy.

Have a great afternoon.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone!

I thought I did great yesterday drinking 10 cups of water..Guess I'll go for 12 today.

Tonight's dinner is meatballs and pasts (although no pasta for me) and I'm making atkins bread (my sister gave me a mix), and spinach salad.

Hi Everyone: Have had a busy day running around getting stuff I was short of. Usually I am well stocked but all of a sudden the cupboards were bare. Went to the next town shopping in the am and was a good girl and came home to unload and have lunch. after lunch it was the library and the grocery store here who has chickens on sale. I bought so much I had to repackage everything to get it all in the freezer. I also went to the fish monger and got some orange roughy for me for dinner. It cost so much I could of bought a steak but what the heck I deserve it. I have never tasted it and have decided that I am going to introduce more kinds fish into my diet. I like salmon and shrimp and sole, sometimes tuna but that's it so it will be interesting to see if I can eat more kinds. DH won't eat it so we went to the butcher and bought him his favorite cuts of steak and pork wrapped separately. I know what you mean about missing the dog Ali, I always plan that is the day I will wash the floors than I never get them done I spend the time sitting around missing the dog. DD has booked the pup in for his first grooming and found a place that lets her stay and they only keep him 2 hours and they are doing it on a Sunday. So they are pleased, didn't want to use a holiday or sick day to take him in Mon to Fri. Nikki the pound will be gone tomorrow I bet. Anne it will be nice towards the end of the week. What a mess down there this morning traffic wise. DD left Burlington at 7 on the Go train and got to work a block from Union station at 9. A half hour trip. The roads were even worse they say. Did you have any problems? Cat, hormones Will screw up the weight. Stay away from the scale if you can until it's over. Well off to do dinner, I have to do separate ones as DH is having potaoes and corn and Pork chops, and I'm having fish, faux potatoes and spinach. Later Lynn

Good afternoon,
DD had a great birthday. Her sister gave her a dvd player for her bedroom and I had the pleasure of hooking it up. It wasn't that hard though and she is very happy with it. Thanks for the BD well wishes :)

Ali, counting points and eating core does sound interesting and gives me some food for thought. I will have to go to the site and look at the core list of foods tonight. I'm not exactly ready to change my eating right now. I've been doing pretty good so far. This week has just been one of those weeks I guess.

Anne, I've been using those things that slip over your shoes all winter. They have saved me countless times from falling. The new ones they have out barely even show on the sides of your boots/shoes so they aren't ugly looking. Here's a link to what they are and there is a video you can watch to see what they look like on

If you can't find them up there, I could get them and send them to you if you want. I've also seen them advertised in sporting goods stores, so you might check places like that out too.

Talk to you all tomorrow, Nikki

Lynn, we were posting at the same time. My favorite fish is orange roughy. Love it! I bake it with some butter and dill ususally. Just delicious.

Hello everyone...

Picked up Lacee at the Vet, she's doing fine. They have this new stuff that they put on their teeth after they've been cleaned that acts like a sealant to prevent a lot of tartar buildup. This lasts 2 weeks, so we left armed with a kit of the stuff that I have to put on weekly. That should be fun.....NOT!! Lacee has to go back in 2 weeks so that DH and/or I can have a lesson on how to apply the stuff.

Nikki, glad that your DD had a good birthday. A DVD player is an excellent gift. You must be good at putting electronics together. Body for Life has a really great workout program. I love the before and after pictures, it really gives you an incentive.

Cat, your meatballs sound great. If you miss having the pasta, and if you like zucchini, you can make noodles out of it. Peel some zucchini down to the seeds, coat your pan with a little olive oil, or PAM, and saute the strips. You will have a pile of strips, but they cook down. You can use a regular vegetable peeler, or a Julienne vegetable peeler, which makes thinner and longer strips that look like pasta. I also peel yellow squash to put in with the zucchini to make it more colorful.

Lynn, you sound like you had a very busy day yesterday. As I've mentioned, I'm not a fish eater. But, I can eat sole, and I do like it. Do you like haddock? That's great your DD got someone to groom the dog on a Sunday.

Anne, are you still slipping and sliding to work? Hope everything is going well for you.

Enjoy your day!
Ali

Hi All: Damn Nikki I had dill here and forgot to use it. The orange roughy was good, I will buy it again. DH and I have decided to go to Bingo tonight. On our way to the store yesterday we pass the place were bingo is every Friday night and thought why not, it will be fun just to people watch. DH has never been and I went once about 15 years ago. Should be a laugh. Curves is done for the day. The leader of the diet group was on duty today and was all excited because the whole group lost 65 lb. Well I lost 6 lbs so what did the other 24 loose. I feel a lot better. Ali, does Lacee have a problem with tarter. I havn't had mya's done, they look all right to me. How often do you have it done. Coco only had it done when she was very old. Well I guess I will plan dinner, we have to eat early. Tonight I will have boneless skinless chicken breast with asparagus and a salad. DH of coarse will have something different. Well will be back later. Have a great day all

Lynn, one of the girls at the Vets office explained that dogs that have little mouths generally get more tartar. I really was quite surprised that she had so much because she eats Science Diet Oral Care dry dog food. The food is almost as big as her mouth, but that is the only food she'll eat. Plus she get's hard cookies everytime you turn around. Hopefully this stuff they gave me will help and she won't have to have too many of those visits. They say you're supposed to brush your dog's teeth daily. Ya...right! She has a fit when I cut her toenails. Hey, have fun a bingo. I hope you win tonight!:lucky:

Hey all!!

ANyone with multiple cats? I am having such a hard time getting the older cats to like my baby!!!!!! She wants to smell them and play (she's almost 3) but they just hiss at her..one of them hides...I read that cat vs cat book and it says to integrate the new cat slowly whichive done but they still hiss at her and run and growl. All she wants to do is smell them and play.

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

My DD is cooking dinner tonight...some concoction with oriental ramen noodle soup and ground beef.
Ill exercise in the morning with weight and aerobics..Have a 50yr anniversary to go to this weekend. So i'll have to be careful. I'm such a Dessertoholic!!!

nikkic 01-29-2005 08:38 AM

Good morning everyone,
Ali, glad that Lacee is ok and that she's back home. I never had my dogs teeth cleaned and he lived to be over 22. Although, in the last few years he should have had them cleaned, but I figured the anesthesia would have killed him at his advanced age. I never knew that about little dogs, that's interesting. I've never had a little dog, just medium sized or larger. We would like to get a little one next time, but who knows, some gigantic mongrel will probably walk up the driveway and live here for another 20 years.

Lynn, bingo sounds fun. Your lucky your DH will do stuff like that with you. Hope you had a great time.

Cat, I assume your baby is a another cat. What sex are they? Lots of times same sex cats will not get along, even start to spray to claim their territory. Kind of a pecking order like chickens. I've had some cats that will get along with any cat, some that are very unsocial and hate all other cats. Like people, they all have different personalities. It could be, the other cats just don't like your baby. Or, they might be feeling jealous and think your taking her side or giving her too much attention. You might try to give them attention first when they are all together. Feed them first, pet them first, etc. How long have they been together? It might take a long time before they get their living arrangements worked out. At least it doesn't sound like anyone will get hurt.
I've had to seperate my cats. My old male, Tony, now lives in the garage and can't come in the house. PJ, the female hates him and I really thought they'd fight to the death when they first met. PJ attacked him first, but she has some kind of mental problem. I'm not sure if she is brain damaged or what, but she misunderstands things a lot and doesn't react to things appropriately. Now Stripe is a male and PJ loves him, so Stripe was able to stay in the house. Stripe likes all cats, but Tony would love to kill Stripe, because this is his territory and he fights all males that come on to the property. Anyway, that's my little cat soap opera story for the day,

So, I'm back to the weight I was last week. I had gained 2 lbs this week, now, I've lost it. I feel better about that. I hate it when the scale goes up.
Better go exercise, later, Nikki

alynn 01-29-2005 10:05 AM

Morning All: Well that was a hoot. Probabley because I couldn't keep up with the caller. I may have won something but we'll never know!!!!! DH won $60.00, so our night was paid for and the next time we go. He enjoyed himself. It is supposed to warm up today so that will be nice, I wouldn't mind taking the dog to the park to wear down some of this energy she has. Ali, the bit about small mouths makes sense. Our little cocker had what I call a hard mouth and she had a problem with tarter. Coco and Mya have what I call a soft mouth ( the kind were you drive by a car with a dog hanging out the window and the lips are flapping in the wind) don't have a problem. All dogs have been fed people food, not the greatest for them I know.Well I guess I had better start my day. I will probabley be back later
