One final trip for us for the summer...off to Chicago on Wed for a few days. (gotta love those cheep ticket, last min things) When we get back Dad and his lovely bride will be here for a visit. I hope it goes well, I have not spoken to he is a long time although I am past the hate and in indifferance...lets see what happens....
I got the kids a couple of gerbils this week. I am not a rodent fan so I told them I want not a lot to do with them. they are cute but not that cute!
Parent child golf tourney this afternoon. It looks beautiful out, but laundry is opn the list this morning.....
Dottie, have a great time in Niagra falls, will you go to the NY side or the Canadian side....
leens I hope you are feeling better, but I also hoe Grace had a wonderful b-day. Happy birthday little chick...
Ruth, I think about you all the time and hope you are hanging in there. The estrogen level in the house must be comforting.

Have fun on your trips, L & Dottie! Nice to be able to get away for a bit of a rest before the serious 'buckling down' of real life sets in.
Been cloudy/overcast here for the last couple days - very strange for us in August. But don't get me wrong: I LIKE it!
Sticking around home today to clean off desk, make about a bagillion phone called to insurance co., doc, lawyer, etc., and spiff up house. Client work is slow right now (should pick up soon) so I thought I would save CPA Mike some $ and also ease my awake-at-3 a.m. mind by getting something taken care of here.
Hey - what happened to our newbies that I thought were joining us? I could use their pep and gungho to get me remotivated!
Happy Tuesday! It's a bit frosty here this morning but the Girls and I still did our coffee on the deck routine. You couldn't see your breath out there but a jacket over my robe was absolutely a must!
The Girls are so mellow! It is so funny to see them just loafing around on the couch or in the sun puddles. They are dreaming preggie dogggie dreams of little puppies. So far they seem is A1 shape as they should be with all the special care they are getting! I have them on their natural food diet still of course and am supplementing with eggs, liver, ground beef and fish! The last is not my fave first thing in the morning!
I am trying to talk myself into going to a funeral this morning - not anyone close but a man who did a lot of work for the Maple Syrup Festival. Since I'm such a solid citizen of the Village, I'll just go and will feel less guilty. Dave was a bit strange and would corner you to talk about aliens and space ships if you let him. I guess he knows if he was right by now! Slaps self on hand!
Tonight I am going to audition for another play - not the Vagina Monologues Part II! The rehearsals for this one would be just 10-15 minutes away, not a half hour like TVM, and the performance would be in the fall, not in the middle of a February ice storm. It could be fun. I'm not sure what play is scheduled but will let you know.
Nearly 9 so I'd better get into my proper funeral clothes. I've not put on a pair of panti-hose since Mum died and I don't think today will be the day. I actually would feel very strange in a short skirt now but long skirts just won't do around here unless you're "one of them durn hippies"! Navy pantsuit and blazer coming up!
Dottie, I hope you have a wonderful vacation. You deserve it.
L, let me know how you like Chicago. Dh's brother was sick and we took the kids out there for a few days. We love that city's museum and aquarium and went a bit farther north to the jelly belly factory. We had a blast and who knew that popcorn flavored jelly beans could taste so good!
Hey Spot! Is baseball over? No...it can't be, can it? Do your guys play fall ball? Hope your dd is doing well and enjoying (but not too much school )
um....Ruth? did you say "frosty"? Say it ain't so. please!!!! Loved the doggie dream picture!! Heck of a lot better than my pregnant dreams...I think I dreamed about the show "V" where someone birthed an alien or some such thing....oh who knows, maybe it was chocolate.
We've had a nice summer so far. Two more weeks until school...not that I am, like counting ever day or minute or second down or anything!!! The big kid is playing football and I am not too sure he is enjoying it. The little guy is hanging out with me and doing his thing and thoroughly enjoying it. I'm still walking 3 miles a day, feeling pretty good and enjoying "stuff".
Nice, nice, NICE to hear from ya, Peach! Congrats on the 3 mile walks - WOW, I'm impressed!
Yes, my big guy is playing fall ball. (our varsity team had 8 seniors that are now gone so the head guys said "if ya want a shot, you better have your butt on the field for fall ball") He will also probably be playing a few tournaments with his travel team just to keep the guys plugged in and not lose track of anyone - we will need everyone on board for next summer as we will be going to a few 'showcase tournaments'. (working hard toward that free ride to a great baseball school!)
Ruth - I hope you will take lots of pictures of those 'prego girls' of yours and of the puppies that will be coming soon! It is nice to hear from you too!
After six weeks of hot, HOT weather, our normal rain is back and I'm really enjoying the cooler temps. It hasn't helped my eating problem though. Still can't seem to get a grip and I'm getting fluffier by the minute.
I've been trying to do a clean-up project a day to prepare for daughter, SIL, baby and their in-laws' visit in late September. Yesterday I cleaned the freezer compartment of my fridge. Yoiks! Sure feels good to have some space in there again. Ongoing is the organization of my guest bedroom which doubles as my sewing/craft room. In those reno tv shows, they do this kind of thing so quickly but for me it's a job of epic proportions....and my room isn't even as cluttered as a lot of the ones I see on tv.
Today, though, I did nothing, nada, zip! I went to the swimming pool this morning and stayed rather long in the warm whirlpool after. This has made me feel very tired all day so I've only accomplished some paperwork.
Not too many posting here lately and I'm afraid I'm one of the guilty ones. I don't have anything exciting to report so stay mum.
The weather is getting better here...The jelly Belly factory, gonna have to look that up!
We have been here before and you are right, it is a great city. my friends moved here about 3 weeks gao from MN....
Good to see the chicks posting. It has been a strange summer weather wise, I hop fall does not come too soon...
Thanks for the laugh peach, I love a smile on my face no matter what jiff says!
off to do a search on the the jelly belly thing!
got back Wednesday night from Niagara Falls- exhausted! This is a big walking city- they have it set up that you have to walk from place to place, there's a tourist bus system but it's expensive and has only few stops. Anything else, you walk! My legs were shot the first day, and it was comic by the end. I threw a lucky penny under the falls, and my wish was for my feet to stop hurting! But it was a great vacation, expensive, but really fun. we did every tourist thing, and had perfect weather. Ate yummy, but not LC of course. watched the fireworks from a great restaurant on the 33rd floor of our hotel. And the sweet child got to swim in a huge pool with 3 story slide. Stayed on the Canadian side. Did I mention the casino?
Now back to work and reality. We are picking up MIL on Saturday and bringing her home to start chemo. Doc appt on Monday. She's nervous, and we are too. My house is reorganized to give her a bedroom and bathroom on the first floor, and sheets and towels are washed, bed's made, dresser and closet and shelves empty. clock, hamper, lamps, comfy chair. My big treat is actually for myself. I am buying a new TV for myself for the second floor extra room...so I can get away from everything. We still have a first floor tv room, but I wanted my own get-away> So, we're ready to go!
That's it for me!
Kel, Ruth, Linda, Peach, L, good to see you all posting. Linda, no one has a more boring day than me. So, bore us. Ruth, enjoy your nesting time... L, I've heard the restaurants in Chicago are great..and Kel, how're you making out without Melissa? The house must feel empty!
Hi, Dottie, sounds like you had a great time. I really glad - you needed to have a bit of fun, huh.
Yes, the house seems like it got bigger somehow but both the boys are being soooo sweet with me. They start conversations with me (Melis & I jibber/jabbered all the time and they were always around listening but didn't contribute to the conversation much - typical male behavior), help out without being reminded, etc. so we are doing fine. We do miss her, tho.
Linda - Boring or not, I like to hear about others lives. Maybe the cooler temps will help with motivation? Hang in there, gal. I need to get myself motivated in the right direction too so maybe we can push each other?
Hi L - I'm worried about what the fall will bring, weather-wise, too. Either we will roast until Thanksgiving or start getting rain in September and float away by Christmas.
Ok - gotta run over to the Fed-Ex office after 6 since they needed a sig. for a delivery (I think it's Bry's contacts) and couldn't (after 3 attempts) seem to get it here after 3:30 so the boys could sign for it! Grrrr - just what I wanted to do....
Saturday morning- coffee in hand, still a little sleepy...hi Kel, the boys sound sweet- I"ll bet they enjoy having you to themselves a bit more. Although they might not admit it! Hi Linda, ruth, L, everyone!
we've finished my list for the MIL preparation- last item was cleaning the bathroom floor, which I just finished. We are leaving in a couple of hours to drive down and get her. I did get a new TV for my upstairs extra room, so I can disappear when I want to be alone. I am kind of dreading having someone in the house- walking a tightrope between altruism and selfishness! well, it'll all work out, and she really needs to be someplace safe...if she could do this herself, she would. I know she loves her independence, and will try to do things for herself. It will be an adventure!
Well, off to the shower, I have a few little errands and chores to do, DH is putting in a load of laundry- I think I"ll start some breakfast!
