LCFS week of March 21st
Good morning,
Hope everything is going well for you all and that the sun is shining your way :flow1: :goodvibes Last week, someone said they didn't know how to start a new thread. I'm not too sure if this is the easiest way, but since they redid the boards here, it's the only way I know of, if someone else knows an easier way, let me know :) You have to go to the top of this page and click on the link that takes you back to the page that is titled Low Carb! It's where the titles of all the threads are. At the top of all the thread titles is a tab that says new thread and that's where you click. Then when you start a new thread, don't forget to put a title on it ;) :) I used my exercise bike 3 times yesterday. It really does help having it setting out where you trip over it. I put it in the livingroom, rather than the exercise room. That room is so full of exercise equipment, I can barely exericise in there. We do use most of it, but that eliptical machine isn't for me. DH says he is planning on using it, but he hasn't yet, so all it is is somthing I keep hitting every time I try to work out with my Slim in 6 tape. By the way, those tapes are great for the whole body, but you really feel it in the legs. Lots of leg work. I'm trying to do a little more of that first tape everyday. Have a great Sunday, I think I'll make DH some breakfast, Nikki :coffee: |
Goodmorning All: Thanks Nikki that was me who ddidn't know how to start a new thread. If fact I have been surfin the boeards to see if somebody had posted a how to we I got notice of a message. I never got notice of any of your posts from yesterday. I don't make breakfasts Nikki, Always though the week everyone was on their own and on Saturday also. On sundays DH has always done a brunch. When the kids were at home it was planned for 11 o'clock and we woke the kids up if they were still sleeping. Even after DS moved out he appeared at the door every sunday with the sunday papers and Tim Horton coffee's. Apparently he now grocery shops during brunch time now that we have moved. DIL doesn't eat breakfast and says Joel is lost on sunday's. We are getting very strong winds today, in fact they woke me up!! Yep, I slept all night except for a bathroom break. I hope I have turned the corner and can go back to my old sleep patterns, though they weren't perfect at least I could go on with my days feeling a lot better than I am now. Read about crocus's with fondness. I am from Saskatchewan, a area called the Qu'Appelle valley and remember the crocus's so well. It was the sign of spring. Here we get trillium's and they are also the provincial flower. I had a coffee grinder given to me but I left it at the trailer. It has never been used so I am going to use it and buy good coffee. At the trailer we are 30 min. from the nearest town ( and Tim Horton") so miss good coffee. DH and I make our coffee seperately. He uses a coffee maker and I use a press. We use bottled water for coffee also. Sugar our neighbour racks his leafs into piles all over his yard but doesn't pick them up. The wind sends them our way. Last fall we had over 90 bags of leaves for pick up. and I'm sure half of them were his. Next door is a rental cottage so they won't be back next fall I hope. Water levels are good right now. DD found a Brittiny spanial at the Hamilton SPCA. She is approx. 2 years looks cute. DD phoned and she is not nutured and has epilepsey (?). I am going to research canine epilepsey after I finish here. She was picked up Mar 2 running loose with what they called her sister who has been adopted.already. I can't beleive the SPCA doesn't neuter daos. The humane society neuters all aninals before they can be adopted plus all shots are up to date for 200.00. The SPCA Doesn't and they charge 288.00. Havn't have the nerve to say anything to DH But would really like to see her. We will have to see. Anne, how are you? How are the kids and DH? Has your Mom had anymore problems? How is your Dad, no word from Princess Margaret's? Hope you and Dh had a good day yesterday. Hope  is to busy to "bug" you next week also. Aleka I would never pay for a license for Coco I considered it a money grab. Coco had her tag from the vet plus her collar had her name and phone # on it if she got loose. That was one tax I never paid, why it bugs me so I don't know. Well off to check on the Brittiny spanials, all of you have a great day :) :)

Sorry!!!!! Once again forgot to check for typo's :sorry:

Hello..
We had snow and freezing rain over night, but the sun is shining and everything is melting. When you look out the front windows it looks like it's pouring outside because of all the water coming off the roof, then it hits the little deck and it splashes up onto the screens. It is supposed to get cold again by tomorrow. Later this morning I'm off to have lunch with a cousin who doesn't live very far from me. We try to meet at least 3 or 4 times a year. BJ's is just a hop skip and a jump from where we are having lunch, so I'm going to pop over there to see if they have Suzanne Somers' new book. I watched HSN last night, as there was nothing else better on TV, and she and Colleen are very entertaining. They were selling her book and it really does sound interesting. Hope they have it. I saw a column in our local Sunday paper that I wanted to pass along. The columnist had a little terrier dog, who they used to let out in the wee hrs. of the morning, while it was still rather dark. One morning the dog didn't come home like it should have. To make a long story short, the dog was attacked by a coyote. She also mentioned that another woman watched helplessly as a coyote carried off her dead Jack Russell Terrier. She warned people not to let any small animal out loose, by itself, when it's dark, always keep an eye on them. This columnist, and also the woman who lost her Jack Russell live near a city. I don't know if any of you have coyotes in your area or not. Just wanted to let you know of the danger. nikki, the dog you inherited from your dad does sound like it was very special. My parents lived through the depression also and that was probably why I had to clean my plate at mealtimes when I was a toddler. I can remember my parents praising me when I finished my meal, making me feel like I did something very special. But, if I didn't or couldn't eat it all, they made me feel like I had let them down in some way. I have read that exercising in short spurts 3 or 4 times a day is the best way to lose fat. That's wonderful that you like your exercise bike so much. Sugar, we have a reverse osmosis water system that we had to put in for our drinking water when we bought our house. According to new guidelines, we had too much nitrate in our water. When the house was built 3 yrs. before we bought it, the well was fine, but government standards change. There was a filtering system when we bought the house. Now we have Culligan come and service the tanks every few months. So, we have pure drinking water, and that's what we use when we make coffee. By the way, had a great cup of coffee this morning. :coffee: We have a Gloria Jeans in the southern part of our state. We usually buy our coffee and BJ's or Sam's Club. We get Millstone and/or whatever BJ's brand is. They really are good. We use Colombian and Costa Rican coffee. We have a New England gourmet coffee company, Green Mountain, that has fantastic flavors. My very favorite is Southern Pecan. On Sun. mornings, we always have that flavor and DH adds some cinnamon to it. :T As a matter of fact, that's what we had this morning. ANNE, how is your weekend going? lynn, have you inquired about that dog? I was going to suggest that you try getting an older dog since your DH thinks so strongly against getting another dog at 50+. DH & I were over 50 when we got Lacee. After training her to do her duties outside, I realized that I just cannot do it again. If we ever do get another dog, which I seriously doubt, I would get an older dog. Good luck to you in your search. Please let us know how it goes. We have to get a dog license. Many years ago when we had 2 Boston Terriers at one time, we hadn't licensed them because they never roamed the neighborhood nor went out very much...just to do their duties, then they'd come right back inside. One night we got a phone call from the police dept. asking why the dogs weren't licensed and we could pay a hefty fine if we didn't get them licensed. They saw the Vet regularly for their shots and whatever else ailed them. There has been some talk about licensing cats, but there I would've balked because every cat we had was an indoor cat. Hope you all enjoy the rest of your weekend. Aleka |
Good morning, ladies,
Aleka, that is a terrible thought about the little terrier. We live in front of a large pasture and small lake, just at the edge of town. There are all sorts of things come through the yard...a fed fox, deer, raccoons, etc. I never let the girls out without our being with them. The only night adventures they have are, if we have been gone someplace and come home, they like to run out the front door and take a quick tinkle...but only with the porch light on!!! Unless they get taller and can reach the light switch in the living room, I doubt if they would ever be able to be unattended!!! We all seem to love quality coffee. Do any of you put whipping cream in it? Or am I the only naughty soul? :coffee: Glad you are sleeping again, Lynn. It really improves one's day to rest at night. It tickles me that your DH is so concerned about getting a pet at "your ages"...55+. We got Lucianne (9 months old) exactly one week after DH had his 75th birthday! Rosalee was added two months later. We have had them now for over 5 years and have never regretted a moment, even though Yorkies live well into 13+ years normally. I am only 60+ and DH comments sometimes that the girls will take care of me if anything happens to him! I always tell him to forget about any trips into the great beyond until many more moons have passed. We have always laughingly planned to take a huge cruise to some exotic ports and slip off the bow of the ship after the last midnight buffet! Maybe we should add, just after the girls have gone to their Rainbow Bridge to wait for us. :D I am sure one of our kids would love to take either or both of their sisters. In fact, we have a son and daughter who would probably fight over them. :dizzy: Nikkic, I know your dad's dog was special to you. As I said, Mr. Wilbur Mills' death was a "goodbye again" to our daughter...even though he lived many years after she was killed. Aleka, If you get the SS book, give us a review about what is in it please. I am wondering if it has any food tips as well as just hormone talk. What is BJ's? Off to church now. Will check in later. Sugardrop |
Fuuny thing I just got off the Mississauga Humane sight and found 2 older dogs I like. There is a 8 year old female that sounds perfect for us. Am going to get DD to have a look. Mississuaga doesn't have kennels, they foster their dogs out with families and you meet the dogs in their foster homes and are observed by the foster families with the animal and their comments go a long way towards you being allowed to adopt the animal. Isn't that so cool!!! also that is were we got Coco 14 years ago. I am going to go a copy and paste her comments here let me know if you think I am nuts.
|
Here is her write-up
Judy - I am a 8 yrs old Malamute/German Shepherd cross, female, 85 bs. I got the best of both breeds - sensitive, intelligent, affectionate and loyal, and a good watchdog. My foster parents describe me as "a mature, quiet and well behaved dog with no bad habits at all and is perfect in every way, and would takes treats gently from your hand, knows the basic commands and walks well off the leash." I love my walkies and also car rides. I get along fine with large male dogs, but would probably chase a young or small, active dog! I would do best as a companion for an older dog in a quiet family, or as the only pet for a mature single person or older couple. Rescued August 22th 2003. Contact Andrea at 905-986-0276 before 8 p.m. or email: [email protected]. |
HI again,
Lynn, ooohhhh, Judy sounds like a winner. What a wonderful program too. I was going to say about the epilepsy, you would probably have to give that dog medication daily and it could become expensive, so check out the cost of the medication first before considering her. Also, she may not be seizure free even with medication and that can be problematic. Not that she wouldn't be a terrific dog, just look into it closely before you chose a dog that has health problems and know everything that your getting into. Don't worry about typo's, spelling doesn't count here  Aleka, I saw SS new book at Walmart. I don't think I'll get it, after reading about it on the HSN boards. Please give us your take on it when you get it, I don't usually agree with those posters over there anyway :D We have coyotes here and in the winter, they howl right outside of our house. In the summer when there is more food available, they stay farther out in the country. We have 2 outside cats now and in the winter, I keep them locked in the garage at night. The old female, Patches, is around 16 or 17 and has no desire to wander out at night. Tony, the male, is around 7 or 8 and he does like to prowl at night. Apparently, they have learned how to avoid being eaten so far. Tony protects the yard from other stray cats. If I tried to keep him in in the summer, he'd go nuts. I know there is the risk of losing him. But there are all kinds of threats to his welfare out there. West Nile virus, coyotes, poisons, cars. He's already gone through 15 of his nine lives, he's a tough old tom cat. I appreciate the warning though. I've seen coyotes face to face and they have the most intelligent look in their eyes. They are very beautiful and proud, in their own way. I never got my dogs licensed either. The police around here aren't that concerned with dogs or dog licenses. We don't have a humane shelter. It's upsetting to see so many strays wandering around, starving to death. Sugar, I love whipping cream. I love it so much, I can't have it. I always think, "OK, I'll just have 2 tbs a day." Then I buy it and by the end of the day, I'm standing at the fridge with the door open, drinking it out of the carton. It is just tooo goood! So you see, your not naughty at all, I'm the naughtiest when it comes to whipped cream. Oh, I did the whole Slim in 6 tape today! It was hard, but I kept on doing just one more move until I did all of it. I feel so good about it :strong:  :workout: Anne, hope your doing well and that your enjoying a restful weekend, Take care, Nikki |
Nikki: Judy doesn't have epilepsy, it was the brittiny spanial that had it. Also she hadn't been fixed but Judy had. Nobody picks up strays? They would be better off put down and left tp the elements!!!! That is awful in this day and age.
|
Lynn,
Sorry about that. I didn't explain myself clearly. Sometimes on these boards, I get in such a rush to answer, I don't always say what I'm thinking. I should have said to check into the springers health closely. :foot: I did know what you meant, you just didn't know what I meant, so we're both on the right page now:flow2: :write: Are you considering Judy then? She really does sound like the perfect dog. I use to have a german shepard and you never met a more loyal, intelligent dog. She wanted to please me all the time. Then, I had a part collie and part german shepard and I thought she was an even better dog. She had the best of both breeds. So, to me, Judy sounds like a real prize. Plus, she's already trained and that means a lot. Good luck to you :D Nikki |
That's okay Nikki. One of the reasons I still prefer qick post even though it has no icons is I can refer back to previous posts. The old memory being as bad as it is. Yes I am I just have to tackle Dh. I will need lots of luck.
|
Lynn,
You can refer to old posts on the other reply too. You just have to scroll down the page. Under the additional options box, is a title that says topic review and on the right hand side it says either expand or collapse with a red arrow pointing up or down. If it's collapsed, you won't see the other posts, it will say expand, click on that and it will show all the previous posts. Good luck with your DH :goodluck:  |
A good morning to you all, :coffee:
I did get Suzanne's book and will let you know how it is. I saw some posts on HSN's bulletin board that there are a few pages for women who live in rural areas who don't have access to all these specialists, as to what they can do themselves. lynn, Judy sounds like a wonderful dog. Have you seen her yet? Let us know how things develop :goodluck: On my computer I just use the scroll bar to the right and scroll down the page and the posts are there, below Additional Options. nikki, good for you on finishing the Slim in 6 tape. :bravo: :cp: :encore: Are you able to move today? I don't agree with most of the posters on the HSN board. Some of them can get very nasty though, can't they? I go in there occasionally, mostly when Suzanne is on just to see what they're saying about her. Actually it's been pretty tame lately. ;) I agree with Lynn about the stray dogs. The police should do something about them instead of letting them suffer like that. Is there an ASPCA or any type of animal shelter in another town that is close to you? Sugar, BJ's is a wharehouse type club like Sams's Club and Cosco. DH & I belong to both Sam's & BJ's. BJ's is closer to us than Sam's. When we let Lacee outside she is on a lead that is tied to a post on our front stairs, always have the outdoor light on at night, and in better weather we're always standing out there with her, in the winter months we stand in front of the storm door so that she's never out of our sight. The only time I've ever put whipped cream on my coffee is when I've had an Irish Coffee. Except, there is a gourmet coffee shop called The Beanery. They are few and far between, if they are still in business. They have this caramel coffee drink with whipped cream and all that is to die for. It tastes like dessert, and I'm sure 3 days worth of calories. ANNE, hope your weekend was nice and hope you have a good work week and that  will be occupied so you can have a peaceful week. Have a good day everyone. Aleka |
Good Morning All:
Hope you all enjoyed your weekends...Goes soooo fast :dizzy: Lynn, it is freezing here today!! Can you believe it? It is going to start warming up on Tuesday. My dad is fine. He finds this weather hard because of his emphysema. He does well though with everything he has been through these last 16 + years he still is not on oxygen. Lynn, I have insomnia too. Especially on Sunday nights. Wonder why! Nikki, have you been on the body flex board lately? Sherri has a new picture posted with red hair. She looks wonderful. Aleka, freezing rain :fr: thats my worst nightmare. Hope you enjoyed your lunch at BJ's. I am taking Friday off this week and going out for lunch with my DH. Can't make up mind what kind of food though. I may go to the Manderin for the chinese buffet :T I also love good fish n chips. (I'm being very naughty) Sugar I am a coffee drinker too. Nothing but whipping cream and splenda in mine. Its on my program though :coffee: not that I have been too great these last weekends :o Hope you all have a great Monday. Two of my sons are coming in to visit me at work today to see the new cash office. I am hoping and praying  doesn't come by. She will be :censored: if she sees anyone but Tanya and I here. Anne. |
Hello again...
My cousin sent me this poem and I wanted to share it with all of you. Also, I was watching Good Morning America this morning and there is a dog lovers website, www.dogster.com The dog of the day is sooo cute, but I believe I'm a little prejudice. ;) Perceptions; When an old lady died in the geriatric ward of a small hospital near Dundee, Scotland, it was felt that she had nothing left of any value. Later, when the nurses were going through her meager possessions, they found this poem. Its quality and content so impressed the staff that copies were made and distributed to every nurse in the hospital. One nurse took her copy to Ireland. The old lady's sole bequest to posterity has since appeared in the Christmas edition of the News Magazine of the North Ireland Association for Mental Health. A slide presentation has also been made based on her simple, but eloquent, poem. And this little old Scottish lady, with nothing left to give to the world, is now the author of this "anonymous" poem winging across the Internet. What do you see? What are you thinking, when you're looking at me? A crabby old woman, not very wise, uncertain of habit, with faraway eyes? Who dribbles her food and makes no reply, when you say in a loud voice, "I do wish you'd try!" Who seems not to notice the things that you do, and forever is losing a stocking or shoe..... Who, resisting or not, lets you do as you will, with bathing and feeding, the long day to fill.... Is that what you're thinking? Is that what you see? Then open your eyes, nurse; you're not looking at me. I'll tell you who I am as I sit here so still, as I do at your bidding, as I eat at your will. I'm a small child of ten ... with a father and mother, brothers and sisters, who love one another. A young girl of sixteen, with wings on her feet, dreaming that soon now a lover she'll meet. A bride soon at twenty -- my heart gives a leap, remembering the vows that I promised to keep. At twenty-five now, I have young of my own, who need me to guide and a secure happy home. A woman of thirty, my young now grown fast, bound to each other with ties that should last. At forty, my young sons have grown and are gone, but my man's beside me to see I don't mourn. At fifty once more, babies play round my knee, again we know children, my loved one and me. Dark days are upon me, my husband is dead; I look at the future, I shudder with dread. For my young are all rearing young of their own, and I think of the years and the love that I've known. I'm now an old woman ... and nature is cruel; 'Tis jest to make old age look like a fool. The body, it crumbles, grace and vigour depart, there is now a stone where I once had a heart. But inside this old carcass a young girl still dwells, and now and again my battered heart swells. I remember the joys, I remember the pain, and I'm loving and living life over again. I think of the years .... all too few, gone too fast, and accept the stark fact that nothing can last. So open your eyes, people, open and see, not a crabby old woman; look closer ... see ME!! Remember this poem when you next meet an old person who you might brush aside without looking at the young soul within... We will one day be there, too! SHARE THIS POEM......... ITS SOMETHING WE ALL NEED TO REMEMBER!!! ___ |
Good morning,
Aleka, that is a powerful poem and all so true. I think I'll send a copy to our nursing homes in town. Thanks for passing it on. :grouphug: I'm not sore today. I still need to go work out, but I slept in. I had some crazy dreams at the end and I feel like I didn't sleep at all last night. Do you post over at HSN? I use to, but there are some crazy (and very rude) people there, so I just read mostly now. Then there is the weekend troll and that person just ruins the boards on the weekend. The closest shelter we have is 30 miles away. They are trying to get the money together for one here, but that's been going on for years. Anne, I haven't been to the BF boards for awhile, I'll have to check out Sherri's picture. Hopefully, things go well at the office today. You must have a knot in your stomach all the time. I feel for you. Well, got to finish my coffee and start to exercise. Have a good day, Nikki |
nikki, I used to post over on HSN occasionally, but under a different name. :comp: I don't post anymore unless there is a poll that appeals to me. Otherwise I just lurk, especially on the weekends when the trolls are active. I am going to print out that poem for myself, keep it in my pocketbook, then whip it out whenever I find myself getting impatient with an elderly person in a supermarket or store. I have a funny feeling I'll be taking it out a lot.
ANNE, hope that your sons have a nice visit with you today at work. It's nice that they take an interest in your work. Aleka |
Anne,
I went over to the BF site and Sherri sure does look a lot different and younger. I see Jayaredee is posting over there now. I'm sure it's the same one that use to post here, who else would come up with that name? Besides, he talks about being a former SS'er. Funny how you can go all over the web and it's still a small world. Aleka, it's hard for some people to step outside of themselves and walk in some one elses shoes for awhile. This poem sure does open a persons eyes to that, doesn't it? Nikki |
Goodmorning Ladies: :coffee: I just read the posts under topic review, my something new for today. :thanks: ladies !!!! Aleka that poem broke my heart. I printed a copy for me and sent it along to all my family members. My brother and DD HATE going to nursing home. Maybe it will be easier after they read the poem. My DD lives so close to the home but has a hard time going, DB practically drives by the door on his way home from work and goes once a week, didn't go this week couldn't face it. I wish I was closer. The dog idea met with stoney silence with DH. He can't talk about the dog (sound familiar Sugar)? I wish we could talk about her maybe it would make it easier on me. He isn't sleeping much, this is the man that when his head hits the pillow at night he is asleep. I will keep watching the sight and get DD to talk to him. She can usually get a lot more out of him than me. Also everyone but especially Aleka because of the machine shop, I have a favorite sweat shirt 90% cotton with a grease stain on it that stain removers hasn't budged any suggestions? Poor you Anne I can't fathom hating to go some were 5 days a week, it must be terrible. Friday's weather is going to be very spring like and the Mandarin sounds like a great way to unwind. I love chinese it is probably my favorite. I slept well again last night what a differance it makes in how you face the day. Along nap today Nikki? Well have to go DH wants to go out and I wanted to go to Laundromat to wash mats. Will be back later
|
Another question, I noticed that under the additional options there is attach files. There is a code jpg. That is beside my photo's beside their title. Does this mean I can post photo"s here?
|
Lynn,
I use something that I found at Walmart called Zout. It can be used on grease stains that you have washed a hundred times and can't get out. I pretreat with it for about 10 min and then wash like usual and it gets out all the grease stains I could never get out before. I have a terrible habit of dropping food on my boobs. When we go out, and I drop something there, DH says. "Well, now that we're past that, we can now relax." He knows how hard I try not to do drop my food off my spoon, but that area is like a food magnet  Another one, is to get a container of hand cleaner like they use in the garage or mechanic shops. My DH gets something called GoJo. It's a hand cleaner that dissolves grease, but it says on the container to use it on clothing to remove heavy grease stains, like motor oil or axle grease. I never really tried it on those things. You can buy this at Dollar General or anywhere they sell automotive supplies. |
Yep those boobs get in the way don't they!!!!!!! I have seen that stuff I will get some the next time we go to Barrie. I will check the dollar store here for mechanic's soap, thanks for the suggestions
|
lynn, do you have oxyclean in Canada? They have a bottle of stain removal in a spray bottle. I also use believe it or not, Dawn dish detergent. I squirt some of that on a stain then use a small bristle brush, something that you would use to clean the dirt off your hands, then throw it in the washing machine with the rest of the laundry. Sometimes I use both Dawn and the Oxyclean and it works. I tend to get stains where nikki gets her's too. Yes, you can post pictures here. I have tried it a number of times but haven't had any luck. It always said the picture was too large. The one I did manage to post was a little bigger than a postage stamp. This was a few years ago before the site was upgraded. I haven't tried lately.
Have a good evening everyone. Aleka |
Good Morning All:
Aleka, we do have oxi clean and I wouldn't be with it :) The spray has just come on the market too and they can't keep it on the shelves. That guy Billy is on our shopping channel a few times a year with great deals though you can get oxi clean powder in most of our grocery stores. That was a lovely poem. I found it very touching indeed. Nikki, Jayaredee, boy thats a name from the past!! Remember all that :dizzy: I agree with though, Sherry looks great. I was really impressed. Well Lynn our weather is suppose to improve today. I can't wait until Wednesday when I can get out of my winter coat. Its looking pretty sad right about now  We are having a garage sale at work today. I wish I could take advantage of some of the office furniture but I don't know how I would get it home :( To jump in a cab would cost 40.00 at least so any deal you get might not be great. I should look at computer pieces like a new mouse, keyboard etc. they are easy to manage and I find our mouses are always breaking. The boys are very heavy handed with them!!!! Hi Sugar, hope all is well with you. Have a great day. Anne. |
Anne just looked at the time of your posting and last night wasn't a great night was it? The weather has sucked big time lately. Right now it is half rain and half snow. A lot of my friends first computers came from office sales. If you know someone it can make it a lot cheaper. How did the boys visit go? Did  show up when they were there? Last night was the first time since we left the trailer at the end of September that my computer was sooooo slow in the evening. I was looking for a site and the commands took forever. When I went to print it took forever than said I had to have a printer to print!!!!! I gave up and shut down. That used to happen in the evening at the trailer when the kids overloaded the system downloading music. Next fall I will go to cable here for my internet hook-up. What are every body's Easter plans. What do you cook?? I will probably do a turkey dinner at step-fathers, He has the dog that can't be left alone. I wanted to do a dinner at DB's but he wants to go to friends who have a big party. It is so big we all were invited but my kids don't want to go and my mother will be to confused in that setting. DIL's family in Michigan have a big dinner also I have told them if they think the baby would be ok on the long trip go there, as usual my plans will change with my step-fathers whim's. At xmas my mother was very upset when we had to take her back to nursing home, it was one of the worst time of my life it was heart breaking, so we can't take her to her house. With the the wheelchair and steps at the kids houses, their houses are out so that left my brothers (he lives in a condo). She couldn't handle the trip up here in the car. Another option is taking her out for lunch to a restaurant. We can also rent a room at the nursing home fully equiped and take a dinner there. I think a lunch out and a visit from everyone will be the best option but time will tell. I am going to try to post a photo today. On one of the other forums a lady has a flashing photo that must be her and her 2 kids. These machines never fail to amaze me You are all my witness's next fall I am going to take a computer coarse. There is so much to learn. I have also promised myself that I am going to join curves next winter. Did anyone see 20/20 last night. A program on the 10 biggest myth's? Low carb food was if I remember #9. Basically said what we have been posting for the last few months, if you forget calories it is no good, and the packaged food is 3x as expensive as regular (they used the peanut butter as an example). Well off to email kids and get a :coffee: will be back later. Oh yes thanks for the advice will be attacking my shirt later.

Good morning,
Speaking of low carb food, I bought some new low carb frozen dinners last night. They are called Life Choice and have 12-17 carbs per meal. The thing that I liked was the calories were between 210 and 350 per meal. They cost 2.77 and Healthy Choice runs about the same, so thought I'd give them a go. The one I had last night actually reminded me of real food. It was chicken breasts in a mushroom sauce with green beans and red peppers. All tasted good and 210 calories. I agree Lynn. I enjoy high protein and low carb eating. My biggest problem with it was, lack of self control. Dr. A says to eat until your full. I never really have had a sense of what that is. That's why I think counting calories is important for me. I think every diet will be ok for some people and not the best for all people. Taking your mom back to the nursing home must have been really tough. I've had some experiences like that with my mom along time ago and it is really difficult. Anne, I did my BF this morning. I hadn't done it in awhile and I couldn't believe how much better I felt after doing it. It really gets some good oxygen in your system. Hope you find lots of good buys at the sale. I use to love to go to garage sales. When we first moved here, I went all the time. It was really fun to get good deals on things. Now, I spend most of my time trying to get rid of stuff  Sugar, bet your going to have some nice weather. We are going to have one more day of 50's and then it will be in the upper 60's and low 70's after that, with a lot of rain, but it will be so nice to have some real nice warm temps. Morning, Aleka. How's things in your part of the world? Take care, Nikki |

Just tried to upload a picture of my grandson at 24 hours old, hope it worked
|
I'm sooooooo happy. Sorry I could have picked a lighter photo. I only have 4 photos in computer at the moment. Another question you can click on image to make it larger is there a way to make the avater's larger to view?
|
Lynn,
He's just precious, so beautiful and sweet looking  How old is he now? I clicked on the picture and it was not too dark and was easier to see. I don't think there is anyway to make the avitar larger though, at least I don't know of any. Your doing great at learning all this new stuff, congratulations on your progress and on the wonderful little grandson  |
Hello everyone,
lynn, your grandson is soooo beautiful, oops, handsome. :D Congratulations! I didn't watch 20/20, but taped it. Thought it would be interesting to watch. We have high speed internet service and absolutely love it. Sometimes even that is slow, but not as bad as dial-up. Taking your Mom to a restaurant or having dinner in the nursing home both sound like good ideas. When DH's grandmother was in a nursing home, every holiday they ate at the nursing home in one of the recreation rooms. I know how hard it must have been for you bringing your mother back to the nursing home. This Easter, DH & I will be in FL and don't know what my IL's have planned. DH & I have planned to have a picnic at the beach and take Lacee with us, but don't want any hurt feelings if my MIL has something else in mind. nikki, glad you liked those frozen dinners. Where did you get them, at your regular grocery store? I don't think I've ever seen that brand. I'll have to look for it in the grocery store. I know that Lean Cuisine has a low carb frozen dinner. I have read different ideas for feeling full. One is when you feel satisfied, and you don't want anymore food. You really have to be attuned to your body for the signals of hunger and fullness and it does take some practice. ANNE, hope your sons' visit went well yesterday and  didn't bother you. If you don't have a lap top, the sale at the hosp. would be a good place to get one. I remember Jayardee. I believe I saw a post by him in a site I went into once, but for the life of me can't remember the site, and was wondering if it was the same person. I remember seeing him on SS website when we all posted on it and all our posts went poof! Sugar, how is everything going with you? Hope Rosalee and Lucienne are doing fine. Enjoy your day everyone. Aleka |
I always heard that you drank a glass of water before eating than eat reasonable size portions than don't have anything else for 20 minutes and by than your stomach will tell you it is full. Too bad I havn't been doing this all along. It is supposed to really work for fast eaters (me). I once gotto goal on WW following this theory and forgotten about it. I am going to try it again can't hurt. Blake was born November 15. Back later

Aleka: The thought of being able to do on a holiday what I wanted sounds so wonderful. I also know what you mean about if MIL has any plans.

Hi ladies,
When I miss a day, it is shocking how much reading I have to do to catch up! We are a "wordy" group. :gossip: I have some questions from the posts you've made. What does DB stand for? Where is the place you post that Jay...dee posts and the woman shows great signs of improvement? Lynn, I hope your DH responds more quickly to the loss of Coco than mind did in our sorrow. He still is like a clam and it makes you walk on eggs sometimes around people who don't know. That poem made me weep! It is so great. I wanted to send it to all my kids to read when I get to that point! Instead, I printed it out and put it in a file of my favorite things. Let me join the group who coat her boobs with food! :p I am one of the very best at making a spot right in that prominent place. My only salvation is that DH shares the same flaw so he can't be lording it over me. :rollpin: We are sometimes a tacky sight exiting from a restaurant. Our weather has taken a nasty turn. Cold and windy...and then, finally, today was supposed to be 70 but the sun never has come out and rain came from somewhere. We have been freezing in here so I turned up the furnace to the old wintertime status. How did you get those pictures on, Lynn, and to say thumbnail? Your grandson is absolutely adorable. Congratulations. :balloons: I know the problems with your mother are so sad. I took care of a maiden aunt for a couple years when she was going through the stages of Alzheimer's. Her husband had died of it about 10 years previous so I can really relate to your difficulties. I have a horror of getting that way myself. My son's new mother-in-law-to-be, who we will meet in our yard at the wedding in May, suffers from dementia...the very same symptoms that I recognize from my aunt and uncle...but that family refuses to have her tested for a diagnosis. As if that makes the problem easier to deal with! I think it is just sticking one's head in the sand, but everyone is different in how they deal with things. DH, DS, and I are all concerned about her stability for the event. They are supposed to come here the day before for rehearsal and dinner, stay at our motel, and be ready for an 11 o'clock wedding the next morning. This will probably require superhuman effort on the part of the bride's sister who will be staying at the motel. We have attempted to have this couple down for a brunch three times...they live 80 miles away. Each time it has been cancelled at the last minute, after I have prepared all the food, etc., because she is "not having a good day." I understand perfectly, but wonder how the wedding and events surrounding it will go. Nikkic, you are going great guns on the exercising. Good girl! :sumo: :encore: I haven't done anything but yard work for over a week but as sore as I am, I think surely it has used some muscles that needed activity. :workout: Ann, is there any possibility that your  will be relocated? It must be so terrible to put up with that every day displeasure. How is the SS book coming, Aleka? Found anything about the eating program changes that I was anticipating to be in it? Think I'll go check the rain gauge. I am ready for spring to return!! :sunny: Sugardrop |
Sugar I'm not very good at explaining things but it is easy. On the reply page not the quick reply scroll down to the additional options to the attach files. Click on the manage attachments and follow instructions. Similar to the avater. Everything you see click to enlarge etc. will show up good luck!!!!!! DB to me means dear brother, I am not very good with short forms. That poor lady, it would be easier on them all if the family would accept the condition and get her help. Help is out there and she would be happier and it would make families life easier also. Do you ever resent DH's attitude? I know it is his way of coping and I am probably being selfish, but I need to talk about her. The only one that gets it is my friend who lost her daughter. She carries on about her dog, our past dogs and we can have some laughs. Also DD and I can have a "remember when" session and laugh. It just dawned on me DS has never mentioned the dog's name and the time I did to him he changed the subject. Like father -like son??? Anyway I hope you have somebody to share memories with. It is so necessary. We still have snow I heard DH tell DD that he wishes it would just warm up so he could putter about outside. Apparently he will get his wish this weekend. Well talk to you all later

Just read my post so sorry!!!!!!! I came across so whinny. The next post will be upbeat. :sorry:

Good evening,
Sugar, I think it's the coffee, it makes me gabby :coffee: Jayaredee was one of the original posters on this thread, way back in the beginning. We were all Somersizing then. He was 16 at the time (we didn't realize he was so young for quite awhile). He had a few words with someone in another forum here and this led to a few words with one of the 3 FC's that runs this website. He was banned for that. I think, he was probably just young and kind of let things get the best of him. Anyway, the website I was talking about is related to Body Flex. Here's the link to Sherry's pictures. http://pub159.************/fbodyflexs...ID=11178.topic Anne and I have both done it in the past and I'm starting again. I don't know if you've heard of bodyflex or not, it use to be sold on HSN and on infomercials, but the FCC has brought a lawsuit against the company, saying that it doesn't do what they claim it can do. In my opinion, it does help and is really great for anyone that is unable to do very rigorous exercise or if a person is disabled or in a wheelchair. Anyway, Sherry is a person that posts on that website and she has lost a great deal of weight using Body Flex. She posted her before and after pictures. She was also on the infomercial and seems like a sweet lady. I rarely post over there, I mostly just check it out for hints on how to do the breathing better. I hope my explaination has not confused you, I'm feeling kind of blonde at the moment. That does sound like a tricky situation with your DS's future MIL. I wish you all the best. It may turn out better than anyone anticipates. But, it may be that she is unable to attend the wedding. Sometimes, leaving familiar things is so confusing for people with alzheimers that they become even worse. That is too bad that the family is unable to accept that she is having this trouble. There is medication now that can help to slow the progress (for some people) if they start it soon enough. Lynn, don't apologize, you weren't whining. Lifes not always sunny. Even though we aren't face to face, we still do care about what your saying and how you feel. Being honest is always the best. I better go spend sometime with DH. He keeps complaining that he's a computer widower. Nikki |
Good morning everyone,
We had about 1/2" of snow overnight. :censored: The sun will probably melt it later on today. nikki, went into the BF site. Her picture is fabulous. Did she lose all that weight by just doing Body Flex, or did she diet along with the Body Flex? I can't get over the difference that's so amazing! WOW!! Is she the same woman that was mentioned in the article just before, or during the whole FCC lawsuit? How is you ankle doing? Does pedalling help it any? Sugar, what an awkward situation that is with your DS future MIL. It may be better if she didn't come to the wedding, unless she is having a good day. She may not know where she is nor anyone around her and be in a panic. Your future DIL must be beside herself with the situation. I hope everything works out for the best. I have a relative with alzheimers and they are on medication and have been for a few years. Thankfully the medcation has worked and they haven't gotten any worse. I haven't started SS book yet. I am reading a book right now that I just can't put down. Once I finish this book I'll read Suzanne's book. This newest book has nothing to do with Somersizing. It's a book about hormones and menopause. I want to read it so that the next time I go see my Dr. I can ask some intelligent questions that I hope she has answers for. ;) lynn, you weren't the least bit whiney. As Nikki pointed out, we do care what you have to say and care how you feel. Sometimes it's easier when you're not talking to someone face to face. So, please, don't feel like you're whining. My DH doesn't like to talk about things either. After we lost Shamrock I wanted to talk about it, but he didn't. But, now that we have Lacee, we do talk about Shamrock and the memories aren't as painful. Everyone grieves in a different way. Maybe the memory of Coco is still too painful for your DH, and sometime later on he'll be able to talk about her. ANNE, what did you get at the hospital sale, anything good? Hope your week is going well so far. Take care and have a great day Aleka |
How Are You All Today

Hi Again: That last post was in error. I was at the end of a post and going to fast as usual and did something wrong and cleared the post and was trying to figure out what I did. I wrote that message and was playing around and sent the post by accident. I am now P------- Off and need to get off computer for a while Will be back later
|
Good morning,
Lynn, I sure know how your feeling. I get pretty ticked off when I've written a long post, then hit some key that either completely deletes it or something. But, I had to laugh when I saw the first post, I knew it had to be a mistake, but I still got a good  out of it, so it wasn't a complete waste :) Aleka, so sorry to hear of the snow. I won't tell you much about my weather, but it's :sunny: :D . One day, you will be in FLA and it will be the middle of winter and I will be :stress: about it and you will be :bubbles: :cloud9: and I will be green with envy. ;) I haven't read Sherry's story for so long, I'm not sure if she only did BF or what. I think she was the woman in the article though. DH talked me into going to that Mexican restaurant again last night. I tried so hard to pick out something that was the lowest in calories, but when I got it, it was 3 plates of food! I was glad I had exercised alot yesterday. DH helped me eat it and his too. Today, I'm going to clean up the camper and get it ready for camping. DH wants to start to work on the water lines, as some of them broke last year. This happens all the time with campers, so he is use to it. Then, we will be ready to go. Probably won't go for at least a month or two, but it's always nice to be ready. Have a good day, Nikki |
