  • how about some soy nuts? easy to pack, lots of protein. and they may fit into your carb range.

would you eat turkey jerky? it's not as heavy as the beef..

otherwise, i'd go with the eas low carb bars, like sue said. i like the ones that are kind of like rice krispie bars.. much better than the dense ones.
  • Thanks, you guys!
I just got back from a late night run to Krogers. Man, they've got tons of bars to go through. I couldn't find those EAS bars, so I got a nice selection of Atkins bars. THEN I find another aisle of them by the candy and ANOTHER display by the Slim Fast stuff (it has it's own place too, that's where I found the EAS ones). But I was very dissaapointed in how expensive they all were. Some were as high as $2.19. My boyfriend got apple chips, granola bars, raisins and Gatorade for his pack, but I only found the bars and lots of water. I've heard of turkey jerky, but didn't see any at the store. Maybe next time. Well, the bikes are loaded on my vehicle, got my gear all ready (except for the frozen bottles of water). Now, thanks to you all, I'm good to go. Thanks for all the QUICK and helpful advice. Mary in West Virginia
  • the eas bars are expensive but you really do not need more than one or two I bet less expensive than what your BF bought!! I buy them in a package of 4 for 7.99 at walmart.
