Default Marvellous Monday - Daily for Aug. 3

Good morning, Chickies and Rooster!

It's rainy and hot here in the boonies but it is not going to cramp my style this morning. The dogs have been out in the rain playing in their wading pool - go figure! It's hard to be down about the weather when there are two very enthused critters enjoying life. Dogs are delighted just to go out for a pee! Simple pleasures!

Five more sleeps before I go out West! I am really looking forward to a break from looking after DH and the Doggage for a while. I'll just look after ME! Have a list of stuff to do this week which has to be re-shuffled. I forgot that most places are closed today as it's a stat holiday in Ontario. Yikes! Maybe we will not have towel rails in the bathroom before I go away. Groceries are a must, however - don't want DH to starve without me!

Have a wonderful OP day.

Goodmorning! Happy Monday...

I have just been in such a funk lately. This morning I woke up at 345 to be at the gym by 4-I worked out but I am still really sore from my 3miles speedwalk/almost a jog (lol). I have been working out for 3 weeks now. I can definitely see a difference in my body. In my arms, and thighs especially. I wish I could just firm up this tummy, lol.

Well anyway I am off to eat breakfast and get ready to go to work! Hope you all have a safe and happy Monday!

Post Did someone say Tummy??

That was a lame joke, sorry Juliaa couldn't resist!

Today is my first day of Atkins gals and Brad! I had a total meltdown yesterday, is frozen yogurt, wine and pizza forbidden? So my doctor who does work on Sundays, bless his heart, switched me to Atkins cause my carb cravings got really bad all of a sudden and I can't seem to handle the 40g of carbs I was getting on the other plan.

But the one thing I'm happy about today, is that I freaked for a day, well 2 hours of a day and by bedtime I had figured out how to stop it! I didn't give up, and today totally OP, just a new plan. The scale did pop up 4lbs but that'll be gone in no time so no worries here.

Have a happy monday everyone!

Morning! Seems like a cooler day here today WOOHOO. Got 2.5 yr old that has been rickashaying off walls for the last 3 days, lord give me strength. Wish I could tap into that kind of energy! I swear he can run for 12 hours a day without sitting! I should be the size of a pool cue by now, what gives? We are awaiting to hear about another babe up for adoption, excuse me while I go bang my head against the wall to get the other brain cell working!HA

These days won't always be like this right???

Had a slip up on my diet (skittles!!!grrrrr) 2 handfulls were enough to almost send my system into sugar shock! Felt so ill yesterday, really not worth it! My first cheat in 3 weeks, for shame. Will increase my water and protein to fight off the evil beast (sugar).

Ruthie: You coming my way again! You travelling gypsy you! I would like to go east for a visit, but will wait another year till bouncy boy settles down a bit, he would give my Mom a coronary, climbing her china cabinet and stuff.

Happy OP day!

Angry Good afternoon Hens & Rooster!

Been a while since we've knowingly had a rooster in the hen house! Welcome Brad ~ Maybe your presence will encourage some of those other shy roosters to come on in too!

Hope everyone had a great weekend. I for one am finally over the *itchies! Friday and Saturday are over - thank goodness!

Susie called this morning - they arrived safely in Illinois and her dad went in for the biopsy this morning. They should know something when they go to the oncologist (?) on Thursday. Continued prayers and definately appreciated.

I have way too much on my plate lately which is causing even more stress than the constant turnoil of my life! lol I am not making much headway in prepping the house/garage, etc., for sale. Our house is 2500 sq ft and so is the garage (back section did double as business storage until dh built the metal building on the lot next door, which of course now that houses everything he doesn't know what to do with either! I'm trying not to stress over getting that cleaned out, I know he'll do it... And the office prep, which really shouldn't be too bad as I cleaned out alot a few months ago. Dh has now put my vehicle up for sale and looking for a Grand Cherokee, insisting I don't drive the Suburban as he had it professionally detailed. Awww well, thank God we're physically able to do these things. I'm still praying about the mental part!

I'm still OP and feeling pretty good. Oops, that was dh on the phone headed back to the office, guess I'd better get this hiney moving!

I'll check back in later! Have a terrific Moan Day!

Hi everyone!

Mama J sent me over here... so I thought I would ask a question to you all!

Do you have to eat all 20 carbs on induction? I am finding that after breakfast, lunch and a snack, I am still only at 6 carbs... Not a bad thing, but I am not really hungry... I am making a salad and Kale for dinner along with the cajun pork chop recipe that I found on the induction menu online...

you all sure have a lot of good information! I have been reading most of the morning!

I better run, My DD has her 5 year old well check in about 40 minutes. Talk to you all soon!

Angry Hey Karen!

Glad you found us!

I don't follow Atkins but C.A.D. so I can't help you much on the induction phase of things. I do know from reading all this time that it is important to get your carbs in. As already suggested, it can be easy to do with just a few alterations. It really is hard to get our mindset away from the low fat woe'ing. Don't be afraid to add the butter or sour cream and definately add LC friendly veggies. The veggies and water are just as important as the protein so please make sure you're getting them in. Maybe even consider doing mini "meals" or snacks as you're not really getting hungry. Add in a hardboiled egg or some tuna a couple hours after breakfast or lunch. Or celery with cream cheese? Hard salami and cheese?

Sure glad you showed up! See ya'll tomorrow!

Where is everyone? I know it's a civic holiday in most of Canada but that doesn't excuse you Americans.

I'm still OP and have happily lost 6-1/2 lb after week one of Atkins Induction. I'm taking this 5 week challenge thing very seriously. As some of you may know, I don't lose weight easily due to medications, physical problems (mostly fat ) etc. so I'll be happy just to lose what I've gained over the past few months and get back down to that old "virgin" fat. Another 12 pounds or so before I'm at that level.

This morning I did a good one hour workout at the pool. My friend and I had the entire leisure lane almost all to ourselves. She tends to want to just paddle gently and yack but I made her keep up the pace so we both burned a few calories I think. Came home and had to hand water several areas of my flower beds that the auto sprinkler system doesn't reach, then the hanging baskets. That all took over an hour so it was 10 am before I finally had my bacon and eggs. I made a lovely omelet with a bit of onion, parsley and mushrooms. If I have to have eggs, I might as well make them as tasty as possible, right?

Then I had to make a grocery run and the store was absolutely packed with holiday shoppers. Crazy when I only needed a few things. Came home and was happy to crash and watch Y&R. Nearly fell asleep though. Had a late lunch of cottage cheese mixed with a little sour cream, artificial sweetener and about 10 blueberries from my garden. I'd been craving some fruit and that was just enough to satisfy my taste buds.

Tonight, when it cools off a bit, I plan to go out and trim and prune any shrubs that need it as well as the ivy which wants to take over the front sidewalk. Then in the cool of the early morning I plan to get out and do a major weeding in the front borders. Got to get things prettied up for our Ruthie's visit on Saturday.
Did somebody say there was a guy here? Where is he?

It's about an hour late, but my ears were burning so I thought I'd find out who'd been talking about me behind my back!

Welcome, all... It's also been a week for me since I started induction. I have to guess at my starting weight, but I'd say it was around 335, as my digital scaled simply told me 'OL' (over limit). Last night it was 328.8. I figured the first week would be more difficult, after reading so much about it, but it really was easy.

Today went well enough. I'm still having a hard time pushing myself up to the 'desired' 60% fat. All week I've run closer to 50+ protein, 40-ish fat, and minor percentage carbs, of course. I'm not a morning person, and I'm *never* up early enough to cook anything. Most days so far I've made some tuna salad a day or two ahead of time to keep on hand. Today, though, I ended up just grabbing a Carbo-Lite shake (actually pretty good, albeit pricy), and grabbing some string cheese later on.

Lunch was easy as usual. We ended up at a steak place for a birthday at work, so it was steak, salad, and some sliced tomatoes in place of a potato (very good, but I avoided eating too much of it since they are higher in carbs). Unfortunately, this is a very, very *lousy* steak joint that this group always picks. Nearly inedible meat. The salads, dressings (fair selection made in house), and the sliced tomatoes were at least enough to make up for it. Better than leather!

Okay, late, late posting...off to bed... And thanks for the warm welcome!
