    Happy Birthday,
    America The Beautiful!

    /**/*/*/**/*/*/**/*/*/**/*/*/**/*/*/**/*/*/**/*/*/**/*/*/**/*/*

I hope you all have a wonderful and safe holiday! My American flag will be hung in 15 minutes - it was too darn hot to do it last night. We'd run it up the flagpole but it's bigger than the Canadian one and that would never do!

We are still in our heatwave with no relief in sight. I love our AC but am feeling rather guilty over the energy it consumes! Also guilty because so many folk in the village don't have it.

Harry and I went to the doc for his re-check yesterday. Jack congratulated ME on keeping H's BGL under control. No further cancerous spots have appeared but we will have to keep a close watch on his skin. Now maybe he will wear a hat outdoors.

I got sucked in to doing some pre-Fair work yesterday. Linda who is the rookie Secretary Manager was close to tears yesterday when I popped in for a poster so I helped her with some of the office tasks for an hour or two. Harry says this is the thin edge of the wedge so I'd better watch it! The "new" Treasurer hasn't shown for over a week so that's another worry. It seems to me I had $$$ work to do every day for the three weeks leading up to the Fair. Hold firm, Ruthie!

We will do a bit of hoeing this morning before it gets way to hot to be outside. The dogs love it when we work in the garden - they lie on the grass in their yard and watch us or loaf on the deck. Whoever said "It's a dog's life" must have meant a good one!

    Have a wonderful day!
  • Good Morning everyone........just a quickie this morning, we are having a block 4th of July party today.

    Robin
  • Happy Fourth of July !
Good Early Morning Ruth ~ Coffee is fresh and hot, would you like a cup? (mugs are clean too )

Up early this morning but feel rested. Just waiting for DH to get up so I can do the shower/makeup thing and start the day.

I am sooooo envious of you with green thumbs and lovely flower gardens. I gave up on ours two years ago - nothing but weeds will grow. We got a great deal on interlocking paving stones for our patio area and DH has agreed to pull out the old ugly railroad ties from the flower beds and replace them with a nice stone or brick edging type of border. I'd love the stacking stones but far too expensive for the space we'd have to have installed. Then I'm having a landscape design crew come over and start redesigning one large bed at a time. It's an all female crew whose business name is "Tuff Guy Design"......hmmmm, should be interesting!

I now have DSL and received some message "alert" when I attempted to log in at 3fc-did some type of quik diagnosis and hopefully discovered why I'm having so much trouble staying logged in long enough to post! I guess when I hit the submit button we'll find out, huh?

Hope everyone has a safe holiday weekend!

    J

Hi Robin ~ You snuck in on him! Have a great time at your block party!
  • Happy 4th all my American friends!!! Hope you stuff your face with good stuff and have fun watching the fireworks

I am waiting to leave to go to the city this afternoon with dh to eat some sushi! Mmmmm..... afterwards, we are going to visit my brother and SIL at their new house for a few hours. All I know is we will be going to my gran's tonight to get Miree. Dh can't standit anymore! LOL I have to admit, I have enjoyed the last 10 days being child-free but I'm missing her too. I can't wait to kiss her sticky little face!

We got rain last night! And it's clouded over today! What a lovely break from all the heat we've had. I'll try and send some your way Ruth, OK?

Robin, have fun at your block party! That sounds like a lot of fun!

I love the name of the design crew Janice--and those pavers sound like a great idea

    Have a wonderful day everyone

  • Happy 4th to all the American Chicks. Watch out for buttered corn on the cob. (Oh, man, I love that stuff)
I've been working in the garden this morning. A perfect day for it with a mix of sun and clouds and a refreshing breeze. There is so much to do out there that I never get really finished. I just take a break for a week or two and then I have to get right back at it. Today was mostly weeding and cutting back perennials that have finished blooming with a bit of plant moving thrown in. I probably won't be able to walk tomorrow. Now, if I could just convince myself to put in just one hour a day, I could probably keep up, more or less, but I'm a lazy slug.
  • Hi Everybody!

Didn't get a chance to post yesterday--busy day. A friend dropped by in the morning to visit unexpectedly (fortunately I was done Body Flexing) Then DS got home from basketball and we took off to get haircuts and run errands. He managed to point out many things for a wish list for his birthday next week. My how the list has changed through the years. I can NOT believe that he is going to be 17 next week!!!
I have been doing great with my exercising, but today and yesterday my eating has been average and I did have wine last night. I think that I am stressing and having anxiety about the basketball weekend away. DH is not able to go at least until Sunday and I am not used to traveling so far without another grown up in my vehicle. Two or three 16 or 17 year olds only count 1/2 each. I struggle with anxiety at times anyway so this will be a challenge for me. Fortunately we will caravan and there will be others if I need them.
We are grilling steaks and portabella mushrooms tonight for dinner. Bags are packed --van is loaded--storms on the way, so hopefully we will get the grilling done in time--it is SO hot that if we do get storms they will be dooozies!
Anyway, I will be gone the next 2 days--am taking my BF bar with me and hope to have time in the hotel room to get in my workout.
See you all on Monday--take care!
Don't know if you'll see this = I posted so late--hope you do!
  • Been out of town for two weeks, made a road trip to CT. My mom went with us as we were going to my nephew's graduation from high school. she counted up that we went through 17 different states. Did have a great time.

Now that I'm home it's back OP for me!!! The trip was fun, but my waistline payed the price.
