Just started
Hi! I have been on the Atkins diet for four days so far. This is the first time I have tried it and as many of you can probably relate, I have gotten some resistance from family and friends regarding how safe it is.
I have read the book and cleared it with my doctor so I feel pretty good about starting it. What I'm wondering is, how much is a normal amount to lose when you start? In the past four days I have lost 16 pounds! It makes me concerned and certainly doesn't make the doubters feel any better about it being safe! I have about 80 pounds to lose so really 16 is just the beginning. I'm guessing that it is water weight? I'd feel much better if I knew that this was normal. Thanks! |
We're at the same place
I am also on my 4th day of Atkins...I started at 178lbs and last night was at 173...I figured I had 40 pounds to lose so also just a start, but I can't believe how much I have lost... I think a little might just be that you can't eat as much...I haven't snacked as often!!
A friend lost 30 in the 2 weeks and he had about 80 to lose also so that sounds not too far off from that. Think of all the bad sugars you are not eating and that is what stores the fat. Not eating them will help you body to flush out all of the previously store fat from sugar... it does make sense... Good Luck!!! It's hard to stick to it :) |
Thank you for your reply! It's so nice to know someone is in the same place as I am! And what you said about your friend makes me feel better too.
What you said about the sugars really does makes sense. I think that I just needed to hear it, you know? I also needed to hear something positive about this diet. I really do feel much better, don't you? I don't even want to snack anymore and don't feel hungry at all. In fact, I think I eat more now that I used to... just better things. Thanks for your encouragement. Good luck with your diet! |
The more you do it the more your body resists losing the weight (induction) It is not uncomon to lose a lot the first few times you do induction. 16 is a great start and 30 WOW (men do lose much faster than women) I have been low carb on and off for several years. abd i do feel so much better low carb and well my bloods have turned to wonderful from the doc. so it works. just remember that you can not when you reach your goal or close to goal you can not go back to the way you were eating before. that is what got you fat in the first place. (the statment that every once gains the weight right back is not to farr off if you go back and eat everything you ate before!!)
|
Wow, I've been doing this only since Monday and I've lost seven - was feeling pretty good about that till I read about Miss Think up there with her 16. WOW! Feeling like a slacker over here. You and I need to compare notes, I'd be really interested in seeing what we're doing differently. Especially as we have the same amount to lose (in fact, I probably have a little more).
If you get a chance, I'd LOVE to talk this over in detail with you lamby. Golfgirl, good for you as well! I've always heard that when you have less to lose it come off slower so you must really be working hard. Congratulations. Nasus, I must know - what is virgin fat? I THINK I have an idea - and if I'm right, you are TOO clever! I'm going to start using that, if you don't mind. |
 I picked up that term so do not think that I am the creative one!!
it is the fat that has not been lost and gained and lost and gained before!! it is new low territory for me. so if you and I think alike then we have the same idea!! what you should do is post all your meals I think there is a post on the regular board for the meal posing if not do not hesiiat to start one. we all need that. and please if you want we can start up a boot camp or summer sizzel thread for the focus. |
It IS what I thought! Virgin fat - that's brilliant! Wherever you picked it up, thanks for passing it on.
I'll go look for a menu or daily thread or something. My husband and I are doing this together and so far, so good (not as good as some apparently ;) ) but feedback is always nice and if we get to a bit where we're not losing, it'll be great to compare notes. |
My husband and I are doing it together too! I think it makes it so much easier, don't you?
The reason I was so concerned about the 16 pounds is that I was treated for graves disease 2 years ago and it has taken me this long to really feel healthy again! Losing weight isn't worth feeling better to me. And I don't know why but people really seem to be giving me grief about trying this! Anyway, that may have something to do with me losing so quickly. My metabolism is really messed up from the treatment (radiated iodine, killed part of my thyroid which controls metabolism). I really didn't mean to show off.. I hope it didn't come off that way. I was just concerned. Anyway, I think that this is such a great forum to get support and feedback! I'm so glad I posted! And seven pounds in four days is amazing!!! I'd love to compare sometime. It is the best way to get new ideas on how to tackle this weight thing! Oh, and Sue.. I love the virgin fat thing too! It's so right on! Thanks!!! |
Go ahead and show off - it ALWAYS makes me feel inspired when someone else is losing!
And having my hsuband doing the same thing, collecting info, showing interest in what we're eating, etc - so helpful. And now that he's losing (he's lost an INCH of his waist this week!) he's really motivated and that makes me really want us to keep going. He has far less to lose than I do but still, we can treat it like a project and not a hardship. How are you feeling? I was a bit sluggish for the first few days, but today for the first time in AGES I'm bursting with energy - and I know it's not from sugar or caffine. Hope this keeps up! If you feel good and you're getting results, don't let other people put you off. If you feel good and your doc is ok with it - hey, you're WAY more informed than the people who are working on rumors and "what they've heard" so don't let them get to you. The proof is in the pudding. Well, lack of pudding. You know. Results count. Good luck to you! |
You girls do have the right mode. focus and compare but do not compare to hard. every one is different. If i remember with graves you can hold lot of fluid?? It has been ages. I should look it up. (I am a nurse)
but anyways. lets get this thing a good kick in the rear and move on this weight loss. It sure helps with DH's joining but do realize that he WILL drop alot faster than you will! It is genetic. |
Oh my gosh, I had such bad headaches the first few days too! The caffiene was so hard to give up! My husband is still feeling a little fuzzy headed but I'm feeling pretty good. Everyday seems better, you know?
A whole inch already?? Gosh!! I do tend to hold a lot of fluid. That could be part of it. I'm feeling so good now that it must be okay though! And the weight loss has slowed from the first few days so that's good. I'm all for losing weight, but not 5 pounds a day! Sue, you've done this for awhile, right? Do you find that exercise helps? Thanks to you both! |
It is not uncommon for men to do that.
The headach is fromthe carb withdrawl as well ascaffiene withdrawl. Yes i have done this for quite a while. on and off. some days much better than others. and when I am bad I am really bad and when I am good really good. (right now I am half way) I am going back in the groove, but like you all have said it is hard to keep your faith when it is not falling off like some people. Exercise is really the key but make sure that you chose something that you can live with. do not expect to be able to do an hour in the gym every day like i was. (then started to work a full time job iwth 5 kids in the house) not good for the psyche exercise and diet plans!1 I gained a.lot back but am trying desperatly to get it back off. (and it doe s not want to budge. but I know I can do it and do plan on doing it again!!! |
Hi all! Mind if I join in?
I have really enjoyed reading all of your posts! I have allot of weight to loose. I have tried almost everything out there and have had great success! But always gain it back:( Last year at this time I weighed about 60 pounds less then I do now. I worked really hard doing slim-fast and working out. Then went on vacation, bought a new house (what a headache!, :fr: )and basically just got lazy and gained all my weight back plus some! Now I feel like a failure (again) and have to start all over. I had a friend come over about a week ago that started the Atkins diet and has lost 7 pounds in the first two days! He is 6'4" and weighs about 400 lbs. He said I should give it a try. So I went to Barnes & Noble picked up the book, and a few low carb cook books and am just about ready to give it a try! I think the main thing to this diet is to just watch the carbs. Right? I am still trying to figure it out all the way before I start. Plus I am a MAJOR procrastinator! Did any of you have anxiety about starting up this diet? An worry abut doing it right? Or did you just go for it? Any advice girls? Thanks Feffy Ps. Congratulations on all of your weight loss so far! Sounds like you are all doing great! Welcome Freffy!!! I just jumped in and started when i started. some people find it helpful to start cutting the carbs first like the major ones for a few days then going full force. i will say you may drag and feel yucchy for a few days then feel a huge rush of energy!! Just do it. bottom line veggies are great any ind except peans corn and too much winter squash, but all else is good, fruit for now is not in the plan atleast not atkins induction. Rice pasta bread and well doughnuts bagels and the likes are most certainly out. beans like the kind in three bean salad is out atleast for now. Freffy just be aware that your friend not nly is male and will lose weight like butter on a fry pan, but also being heavy will lose more quickly especially in the beginning.
Salad is wonderful but watch the tomatoes limit to very little. and do not eat crab salad the fake stuff (will cause horrible cravings as it is made with potatoe starch) what do you say girls of we move this to the regular forum. as this is usually for the FAQ. you can certainly keep the individuality of this thread going as there are several different groups started up there. there is some great info here that i would hate to see get lost in pages of chatter. |
I'll be happy to follow this over to the regular forum. Just let me know where to look! I'd LOVE to keep comparing notes with y'all.
Feffyy, when I started - just last Monday - we jumped in with both feet. My husband took it upon himself to clear all the carbs out of the cabinets, fridg, and freezer - you can't eat what isn't there ;) We did give ourselves about a week to get through all the carb stuff we had (rice, pasta, etc) to avoid wasting a lot but after that, out it went. We've made a little project of it so I think that helps - it's not drudgery, it's a hobby. So, where are we moving to, ladies? Feffy, wanted to add that if you're just getting started, check out www.atkins.com for a really great breakdown of the info. I found that it really makes a point of stressing some of the finer issues like - limiting cheese, drinking water, etc. |
I'd be happy to move too as long as I know where to go. It's so nice to talk to other people who are just starting this!
Feffy, my husband and I also jumped in with both feet. We set a date that we would begin and tried to eat all of the carbs in the house during the week leading up to that time. We're on a pretty fixed budget because I have just gone back to school so we couldn't afford to lose the groceries but by the end of that carb-fest I was SO ready for the diet to begin! I will say though, the first few days I had some pretty painful withdraw. I've only been on the diet for a week but I've found it really easy to stay under 20 carbs as long as I follow the rules of induction (3 cups of salad only, 3 ounces of cheese, etc.). Nicole, what did you do with the carb food that you had left? We threw away all of the stuff that had been opened but have tons of unopened food and I'd feel bad throwing it all away (I'm talking a few bags full of groceries). I looked in the phone book for some sort of food bank but can't find anything (I'm new to Tampa so I don't know the area very well yet) and the bags are sitting in my kitchen just waiting for me to have a weak moment! :) My weight loss has stalled since the original 16 so I feel pretty certain that it was just a beginning-of-the-diet fluke! A week later and I feel better then I have in a long time though! _________________ Start Weight 223 Current Weight 207 Goal Weight 145 |
Welcome, New Chicks! Hold onto your perches as I move this row of nesting boxes into the Main LC Coop!
|
Lamby, we didn't actually have that much stuff left over as we just don't keep a lot of stuff in (small kitchen) but we just tossed it. Couldn't find anywhere to donate it and frankly, didn't have the space to keep hanging on to food we had no plans of eating. So, it's outta here.
Glad to hear you're feeling well - my husband and I were just saying the same thing. I had started to have heartburn/indigestion (and I thought it was just an old people affliciton) ALL the time and I haven't had it even ONCE since I started Induction. MY husband had developed all kinds of stomach problems that seem to have just evaporated. Woo-woo. It's good to feel human again. Neither of us have lost anything in the past few days so we're starting to tweak things again here and there. For one, I'm going to get a lot more careful about water. I normally get my basic 64 and after that, just whatever I feel like. I'm going to make more of an effort to step that up. I think we're going to put the scales away till next Monday. The day to day up and down (down 2, up .5) is just TOO much of a roller coaster for me. I'm getting paranoid. Next Monday is our last day of "official" induction and after that, we'll decide what to do next. |
Yeah, if we didn't have SO much I wouldn't have hesitated to just throw it away to get it out of my sight!
It's really funny, we seemed to have been in the same place when we started this thing. I was also getting heartburn a lot and hadn't noticed until you pointed it out, but haven't since I started. And it's fantastic that your husband isn't having stomach problems anymore! I think putting the scale away is a good idea. I get discouraged if I don't get results immediately (which I know is silly and unrealistic). I just can't help but step on that scale. Maybe I'll put it in the trunk of my car or something to get it out of my apartment! What are you thinking you'll do about induction? I think I might try to stay on it for now.. I'm not tired of it yet. I think I will get to a point where I will need to introduce new foods into my diet and then move onto the next phase. ________________ Start Weight 223 Current Weight 207 Goal Weight 145 |
We are just going to put the scale somewhere out of the way and inconvenient to get to. We'll weigh again next Monday. I too get VERY discouraged and impatient if the scale doesn't move every day - as if that's really going to happen! I know it's expecting too much and still, I expect it.
I think we have this week of induction and then we'll probably try for two more. It hasn't been THAT bad and I think we have the "formula" down for now. Plus, I have a LOT to lose. Two more weeks won't hurt me. |
Hi chicks. I am still haning in there. i did cehat yesterday but gosh It was too hot to cook!! and I was packing DH to go for the next few days. (he is camping with the boys) I am going to visit them tomorow and well i hope I do not laugh too hard. I am sure they will do just fine.
I will say that I think I alowed my self to cheat is that the scale like you guys have said is not moving very well in fact it seems to be going in the other direction. (I know it is salt) but it is so depressing that I just pigged out on subs. so please keep the scales away and hide them even for the month. Well got to go to bed. I have an early morning tomorow. |
Hide those scales, Sue! Don't let them get to you. If you do your part, they'll catch up eventually!
Brandy |
I am so bloated it is not funny!! (I did great today untill I visited DH who is camping with my 2 small boys and of course we had to have the marshmellows!! LOL) But yes those scales are going to be hid. actually they are down stairs and I will not weigh in front of everybody, and when one gets on the scale every one runs to see!!
But ready to go all out again starting tomorow. and exercise will start this weekend!! |
Well, I'm ten days in with no cheats, a net loss of 7 pounds - but the scale hasn't budged since last Friday morning. So guess I'll be taking my own advice about haning in and waiting for the scale to catch up. ACK. I'm SO impatient. I won't be weighing again till Monday (we didn't hide the scales till this morning) but if I don't show SOME kind of loss, I'm going to be SO disappointed!
I's just so frustrating when I'm not even cheating AND I'm drinking the water and being careful and blah blah blah and the darn scale just won't move. Just wanted a bit of a whine. I'll stop now, I promise! |
Just started Atkins today and so far have made it through lunch. This morning I had 2 eggs with cheese and some bacon. I am thinking is that what I am going to have to have every morning? There is not that much that you can eat in the morning. I think dinner will be the easiest meal. Can anyone give me some ideas?
What do you snack on during the induction phase? Thanks RFP |
Hi girls! Here you are :grouphug:
I was so happy to find this group then I thought I lost you all! Glad to see you all again. Wow reading threw all of your posts we are all really in the same boat here! I thought I was the only one that was impatient with the scale. I am terrible! I will get up every morning and run in the bathroom strip down and what ever I see on the scale sets the tone for my entire day. I have promised my self that I was not going to do that this time. I am with you all on hiding the scale out of sight! Mine is under the bathroom counter. Well I started my first day yesterday. Thanks for the advice girls! You talked me into just going for it! Think I did ok? But I did have more then 3 oz of cheese. Think I am confused on the “Atkins Free Food List” what does it mean “FREE FOOD”??? Guess it doesn’t mean to eat all you want right? I had a terrible headache early in the day, and felt really hungry all day! Allot more then normal. My usual eating routine is coffee, coffee, and more coffee all day with no food or water etc. (I know, I know) then by 6-7 PM I end up starving and eating anything I can find at night! Yesterday I ate all threw the day. Cheese, pork sausage, eggs, broccoli, chicken, I had two diet caffeine free Pepsi (that is ok right?) and allot of water! I am a little scared about hearing of all the plateau’s you all are hitting. Is this normal on this diet? I was thinking maybe because with Atkins you build muscle that weighs more then fat, so maybe your measurements are moving, but just not the scale? Is anyone Measuring? Alright since the beginning of this post I have stood still. I have not been able to run because of lack of energy and dizziness. I was pointed in the way of some vitamins I should be taking and I will have started them today. I have not lost a thing since the 4th day!! I believe it was a lot of stored sugar weight or water weight. It's been tough but I am trying to stick it out!!! But I am craving more now than I was at the beginning.
I have a hard time with snacks too... I am a picky person and I don't like much of anything and haven't found much that I like so I have pickles and cheese...I am sick of them. I have searched the recipes...I don't know... maybe something will catch my eye! |
Golfer, since my stand still I'm starting to consult my food journal from last week (when I was losing) to see what's different. All I can see is that I'm eating way less (not interested in food) and not getting in the salad like I should. I wonder if that's part of it? Have you kept a food journal? If you compare the past few days to the first few days, what's different?
I realize that after the first rush, things are just bound to slow down - but I don't want them to STOP altogether! As for snacks - honestly, I just haven't been interested. My husband eats sugar free jello (sometimes with a little whipped cream), string cheese, peperoni nuked till crispy (better than it sounds), and the occasional Atkins chocolate bar (we usually share one as a little taste is all I really need). Maybe you can try some of those? I will have one of the above every now and then - but mostly, just am not hungry in between meals. Oh, and olives. I have a friend who swears by olives with cream cheese. To each their own. feffyy, you've found us! I really think the scales might just NEED to be once a week for me. I really can't get past the day to day fluctuations (or lack thereof) and it's hard to keep the big picture in mind. As for the "free food" list - I think it means you don't have to pre-set an "acceptable" amount but the book and site do emphasize taht you should eat if you are HUNGRY, not just to graze or because just because it's allowed. I had a little headache or two in the first few days, but I think it was just getting over the sugar/caffine dependency. I LIVED on Diet Coke and Altoids all day. Now I limit my Diet Cokes (I refuse to drink caffine free) to two a day and drink either caffine free green tea (on ice) or water all day. Plateaus, in my experience, are normal on every diet. I think in the beginning, you can usually get past one by either being patient and waiting it out (not bloody likely) or shaking things up (starting to exercise or increasing your exercise, having one off- plan meal, something to switch things up). The closer you get to your goal - and THIS is from watching other people (I WISH I was fighting those last five or ten) they slower the weight comes off. That's less about diet and more about just how the body works. From what I can see, anyway. I'm going to start MAKING myself eat those salads twice a day again. That's really the only thing that's very different so maybe if I do that, the scale will be my friend again and I won't have to hurl it out the window! |
Hello all, I had just stumbled upon this site a few weeks ago, and have gotten more involved with all. I am at 231 and 5'1", my doctor recommended low carbs but I am realizing how hard it is. I have a friend and we are trying to support one another with the LC dieting.
I have increased my water intake to 115 + oz p/day and have noticed a decrease in the swelling of my legs, but I really miss my Dr. Peppers :dizzy: |
Hi Angel B! My husband is missing the regular soft drinks as well, but he's switched to having a few (like two) diets a day. Stinker is shedding weight like madness so it must work for him. Meanwhile, I'm still at a standstill. Has to pick up again soon tho, right?
Guys, I don't know what to do. I am being very careful. I am having 20 or fewer carbs a day. I am drinking tons of water. Tomorrow it will have been a WEEK since I lost anything (no, I have not been able to make myself hide the scales yet - everymorning I'm hopeful and I want to KNOW). And I'm in the early stages. This is when weight loss is supposed to be fast and furious, right? ACK! WHY NOT ME? |
Nicole,
I haven't lost anything really since the very beginning either. I was starting to get really discouraged (I even went out and bought those ketosis strips to make sure I was doing it right!) until this morning when I took my measurements again. Even though I haven't lost weight, I've lose several inches. Did you take your measurements when you started? I've always heard people say to do this when dieting because sometimes the scale doesn't reflect the fat that is disappearing but never really believed it. Just a suggestion, it might make you feel better until the scale starts to move again (it will!). I have to admit, I'm still really annoyed with my scale for not reflecting all of my hard work! Like you, I have not cheated yet. (Well, I had one incident where I ate something that I thought was okay without looking at the ingredients and as a result gained back 4 pounds! I won't make that mistake again!!) I'm really uptight about following the rules EXACTLY and feel I deserve some payoff! :) |
Nicole & Lamby I am with you guys.. I lost 7 lbs in the first 4 days and I am on my 11th day and that's all I have lost. My husband on the other hand keeps losing, 8lbs in 4-5 days then about 1lb every day since... I have lost 2 inches total and I can tell with my clothes, but I just wish I would lose a little more eve 1 lb ever other day... I don't know. I did lose more when I could run more...lately I have been weak and dizzy feeling but the good people on here told me I needed potassium and magnessium supplements and this is my 2nd day taking them, they are working with the dizziness!!
Anyway, it's hard to stick with it when you aren't seeing results!! I have not cheated at all, in fact I wondered if I wasn't eating enough carbs... I know there are days that I only eat about 1-15 carbs a day, not on purpose but I get busy and miss lunch and then I eat basically no carb food at home, except for supper but I don't eat too much, but then I am not hungry much either... I am hoping it will get better!!! |
I have been using the sticks and mine turn at least the second darkest color every time and have been since the third day of the diet. I did measure before I started, but haven't measured since. Maybe I should do that, but I'm almost afraid to - if there's no change there either I might just go off the deep end!
The only thing I can think of is that my husband eats way more than me just about daily. Maybe there really is something to the idea of not eating enough. I always thought that as long as I eat when I'm hungry and stop when I'm satisfied (but not full) then I'm doing ok. Maybe I should be eating more protein or something? When I go online and look at sample menus or read other dieter's journals, they are almost always eating way more than I think necessary. So maybe I should just eat more. At this point, it can't hurt. I just hate to think I'm doing it worng and could tweak something and lose faster. I have a LOT to lose. I don't want to fool around and waste time. |
Nicole, have your clothes been fitting better? If so, you should really try your measurements again. It will make you feel better.
We just have to wait this plateau out. Maybe our bodies are just catching up with all of the fluid we lost in the beginning. I've been coming up with all kinds of theories why I haven't been losing! The thing is, all of us who just started seem to have hit a wall at the same time. Maybe it's normal and we just need to stick it out? (Okay, that’s another example of me trying to rationalize it!) |
My original plan was to measure again on Monday, the day after my original 14 day induction will be up. I'm going to stick to that.
And I think sticking it out probably IS the answer. I keep reminding myself of the positives APART from lost pounds - no indigetsion/heartburn, no stomach problems, I'm sleeping better, my skin looks GREAT, and after a few days of the blahs passed I now have a ton of energy. So we must be on the right track. I have not cheated even once. I'm doing everything to the letter except I'm probably eating a little less than recommended but it's because I'm not hungry. I'm drinking water. I'm getting some exericize. My stick is purple. I'm doing my part, I just have to wait for the diet to kick in. Meanwhile my stinker of a husband just keeps on getting thinner. Rat! |
Man this thread is getting a little discouraging. It’s making me a little paranoid about doing this diet at all? But then I keep hearing about all the people that are loosing weight. Like your husband Nicole. That must be so frustrating for you watching him loose and then seeing nothing on your scale. I would normally be all “Hey hang in there” but I feel the same way u do! LOL
I really hope I am doing it right. I went ahead and weighed my self this morning. It says I have lost about 3 pounds. ( I started 3 days ago) But I am not sure if it is just the time of day I weighed though. My first weigh in was late in the day after allot of water. And my weigh in this morning was when I first woke up. So maybe I haven’t lost anything? Or worse, maybe I am gaining? sigh It doesn’t feel like a diet to me. I feel like I am being bad! I have eaten steak, cheese, half and half in my coffee, butter, broccoli and cheese, eggs, sausage. Etc. How can someone lose weight with eating that much fat? Do u loose faster if you stick with low fat meat? Like chicken, fish etc? Or does it matter how many fat grams you eat? I am very confused today. I hope all of you are having a better day then I am. Feffyy Heaviest (267 pounds) Current (264 pounds) Goal (137 pounds) Lightest (145 pounds) |
Well, aside from my husband, both of my brothers and my mom have lost weight doing Atkins and kept it off with a low carb, whole foods with some splurgest lifestyle - if that makes you feel any better. I guess my brothers lost like 80 pounds each and my mom about 75. This was several years ago and they're still slim and trim. So it can work.
I worry about the fat as well but I only eat when I'm hungry and never "just because" and if I add up the fat and calories at the end of the day, it's really quite reasonable. If you're eating more than you're hungry for or just because you can - then you might want to cut back. But as long as you're getting in those veggies and water and you're losing, then you're probably ok. Sunday is my last day of induction. I will take my weight, measurments, and more pics to compare with the ones I took at the beginning and I will probably do another two weeks of induciton, but I plan to add exercise as well (starting Monday). This has worked for other people, I intend to see it through and have it work for me. Hang in there feffyy, tons of people have made this work. We can too. And if you are worried about what you're eating, perhaps we could all get into the habit of posting (on this thread) what we've eaten at the end of every day and our weigh in results (say every Monday?) just to compare notes. It's a thought. |
I posted this somewhere else (another thread) but I'm going to paste the same thing here because I feel like such an IDIOT!
Here ya go: Also, I think I just discovered the source of my stall - friggin Splenda has .8 carbs per packet. Now, if I have two in my coffee in the morning, two in my tea in the evening, and about a million glasses of icaffine free iced green tea with one each - HMMMM, wonder what the problem is??? I can't BELIVE I've wasted a whole week with this STUPID mistake! ACK ACK ACK and a thousand times ACK! |
Well that is very encouraging to hear about your family’s great success! Don’t beat yourself up over the splenda thing! You are not an idiot. :-) Thanks for the pick me up! I don’t think I am getting enough food, and I don’t think enough veggies either. Hmmm
All I had today was a few slices of egg plant for vegetables. I think it’s a great idea to post what we ate every day and also a weigh in with measurements every Monday. Here is what I had today: Am: coffee with 2 tbs. half & half (3) Lunch: Baked chicken (from the deli) (0) Egg plant (6) Cheese slices, 3 oz (2) Dinner: 4 eggs (4) Cheese 2 oz (1.5) 3 bacon slices (0) ------------------------------------------------------------------------- TOTAL: 16.5 grams carbs Did I count this right? Hope so! I noticed on another page that some of the girls didn't count meat, cheese, eggs etc. Should I count or not count them? Plus about 5 16 oz cups of water, and 3 8 oz cups of flavored water (no cal, no carb, no sugar) Ps. By the way have you girls checked out the carb data base? Here is the addy. If you haven’t checked it out you should it’s pretty cool. http://www.nal.usda.gov/fnic/cgi-bin/nut_search.pl Feffyy Heaviest (267 pounds) Current (264 pounds) Goal (137 pounds) Lightest (145 pounds) |
I think it is great the way you new LC chickies have come together to support each other in this new way of eating but you all are welcome to take advantage of our WHOLE Low Carb forum here. Please post on our daily thread about your everyday life so we can all get to know you (and visa versa) and use the weekly menu posting thread to check out what everyone else is eating. There are many people here that are in various stages of the program and are a great source of information and support.
