HI!
We got back last night. No big winnings, but we had a good time. Actually, we only played the slots for a little bit and did a lot of other stuff. I think my gambling days are behind me. The B&B was very elegant and so nice to be at. I'm taking my DD's there some time this summer when they can get away, just a night out for the girls. There are many antique shops there, and DH and I spent a lot of time browsing. I bought a couple of things for the DD's. We walked along the Mississippi River and had dinner in a nice restaurant that overlooked the river. Yesterday, we stopped in his boyhood hometown and they were having a strawberry festival. There were many booths of crafts and antiques, so we had to look over all that and I bought some salt scrubs that were cheap and smell good.
After we got home, I've been going none stop, trying to get caught up on laundry and gardening. I finally think I'm done now. DH is mowing the lawn and then we will go back out to the campground and BBQ for fathers day.
Hope your all having a great weekend and the special men in your lives are enjoying their day (poor DH is sweltering in the hot humid weather right now, but he will get pampered later ).
Take care, back to diet and exercise on Monday for me, took the weekend off, Nikki
nikki, glad you are having such an enjoyable weekend. It's fun having weekends like this..except for the make up chores. I hope some of your hot humid weather comes out way. We had...you guessed it...rain on Sat. Today is nice, but a bit fallish. They say we're supposed to have a few days of pleasant weather for a change. Hope it's true.
Good Morning Ladies:
Monday, Monday Nikkic, sounds like you had a good time.
We had a busy day yesterday. Fathers day and son Jamie's
birthday too!! He was actually born on Fathers day 17 years ago.
Well, you'll never beleive it ladies, I finally found coconut oil
at the grocery store. It was 1.99 a bottle and I bought four.
I am going to try making a salad dressing with it because I don't
really know what else to do with it!!
It looks like shortening. You have to put the bottle in hot
water and it then becomes clear like any other oil.
Aleka our weekend weather was great. I was glad after all
the rain we had last week.
ANNE, YAY!! You finally found coconut oil!! Where in the grocery store did you find it? I have read on other sites that you should gradually work up to the 3 Tablesp. You could use it whenever you fry something. Let us know if you are seeing a difference. I have seen on another post that someone had found the oil in liquid form. I still haven't found it yet. There is a small healthfood store in a nearby town that I could try.
Nikki--I used to enjoying gambling. Back when I had money that didn't actually have to go toward the bill-paying! Now when I go I leave saying things like "What bill could I have paid with that $?" I NEVER win.
Anne, glad you found the coconut oil. Hope you find some good uses for it!
Alice, New England is getting closer and closer! Hope the good weather holds out! Hope it's not 110 degrees when I finally make it up there!!!!
Hi,
A busy day today, cleaning the house and laundry (it never ends does it?) Have a lot of ironing to do too. I never use to iron, but our dryer needs a new part inside of it and the old one leaves brown, permanent rubber marks on our clothes, so for most things, I have to hang them up to dry and then iron them. The repairman said to replace the part would cost as much as a new dryer, seemed kind of high to me, but he doesn't sell new dryers, so he must have been right.
Cheryl, if I was smarter, I'd have put that gambling money away for a new dryer. It seems like everytime I try to save for something, some other emergency comes up and takes that money away. The problem with gambling is, I use to win alot. I still do sometimes. I just don't go very often anymore, thankgoodness I don't live too close to a casino, I'd be there all the time. The smoke really bothers me in there, now that I don't smoke. That alone is enough to keep me out of there.
Anne, you'll have to let us know what the oil tastes like. I asked at our stores and they acted like they had no idea what it was.
Aleka, we just made hamburgers over the campfire, no big deal, but they always taste better over an open fire.
Got to get my behind moving. Take care, Nikki
Thanks Janice, my old bosom buddy
It's today (at midnight) the 17th, I had to ask DH how old I was, I'm 46. I don't know how that happened, I was just 30 something not too long ago
nikkic, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!! 46 isn't old! Are you planning on doing anything special? I haven't ironed anything in years either. I did buy a blouse recently that I just washed, didn't put it in the dryer, and needs to be touched up with an iron. SIGH... Yep, there is something about about hamburgers being cooked outside.
Cheryl, I will do my best to see that you have good weather when you come to New England. I just hope it warms up a little. Nice to see you're back. How is the WW coming along?
ANNE, have you tried the coconut oil yet? If so, how does it taste?
HI everyone,
Aleka, I don't feel any older. DH says I have the best skin of anyone our age. Such a sweet talker.
I got those Tony Clips and I love them. I wore them today and went to the Dr. I told the nurse my hair was falling out and that I had hair pieces in. She just was stunned, said she couldn't tell and asked how I got the color to match so perfectly. I told her it wasn't easy. My hair is starting to grow back in, the Dr. said it was more likely due to my weight lose but could be from the surgery too.
She gave me a prescription for Vioxx for my arthritis pain and a low dose of an antidepressant for my PMS/mood swings. She said it works for that too. DH was happy to hear that.
I got a new air conditioner in the front of the house for my birthday. DH just finished installing it. The old one has not worked right for a few years and when I went to unplug it yesterday, the plug was so hot, it almost burnt my fingers. The plugin had melted and charred. I was thankful that I found that out before we went out to the campground and left it to burn down the house. I yanked the old one out of there and was never so glad to get something out of the house. It was at least 20 years old and smelled bad too. DH was gone to his dad's to mow and was kind of mad that I did that by myself, but impressed at the same time. I guess all that work with the weights is paying off. I'd like to have central air, but we have too many other things that need fixed first.
Boy is it hot and humid today. The gardens are growing like it's the tropics.
Take care and thanks for the birthday wishes, Nikki
Late happy birthday, Nikki!!!! Hope it was a good'un.
I haven't weighed in yet this week. The meeting was moved to Thursday this week, instead of Tuesday. I'm glad, 'cause while Mom and I were on vacation we ate out twice a day EVERY day (not to mention breakfast in the hotel restaurant!!)......I'm hoping I can undo any damage I did between now and tomorrow!!!
I walked two miles yesterday....Wanted to do 4 (which is what I'd worked up to), but the air was so HUMID my glasses kept fogging up!
HI!
We are still camping, we decided to move the camper for another 2 week period to another campground rather than come home. You can stay in one campground for only 2 weeks and can't return for a month. The one we are at now is much smaller and the spots are really close together. We sure picked a winner, the camper next to us started to play rap, (inside of their camper) it was really loud and full of cussing. You can complain, but after the park ranger leaves, they just turn it up again. Then you never know what they will do to your stuff when your gone. We decided to just come home for the night anyway, they are leaving in a couple of days. We really wanted to get back and do some yard work in the next couple of days. The temperature is suppose to be in the low 80's and then it will go up into the 90's with extreme humidity. Today, it was only 75, but with the humidity, we were dripping. I completely sympathize Cheryl. My dieting has been way off with this camping trip. We both decided to get back on track tomorrow. I don't know how well we'll do, but that's the plan.
Anne, what's happening with SARS in Toronto? How's your family?
Aleka, hope things are going good for you, how's your weather?
We have a garden full of little green tomatoes, the lettuce and spinach all needs picked and some kohlrabi to eat tomorrow. I'm making a big salad from the garden, no tomatoes though.
Take care, Nikki
Guess what???? We're supposed to have rain..showers..drizzle..etc for the next 3 - 4 days. Surprised????
Everyone I talk to is so sick of this.
nikki, some people can be so rude and only care about themselves. But, that's what this society has come to. I know what you are talking about. We live in an area that is mostly populated by summer people. They party every Sat. night, and forget it when they are here on vacation. A lot of people complain, but it doesn't do any good. SIGH! Glad that your hair has started to grow back in. Do you wear your Toni clips a lot? I have seen them on the HSN website and was wondering about them. I do love my Toni-tail.
Cheryl, good luck with your weigh in today. I'm sure you'll do alright.
ANNE, I see on the news that SARS has disappeared. Are you still wearing masks at work?
Everyone is still wearing fitted masks at the hospital. Last time
we let our guard down there was another outbreak so I figure
this will be going on for quite some time yet.........
Business is very slow because there is no elective surgery
scheduled at this time until further notice.
Our weather has been very summer like in Toronto. It is suppose
to hit the 90's over the weekend. Maybe it will kill some of those
nasty germs.
Nikkic I am sorry to hear about "your neighbours" People can
be such selfish #/..@#.
Aleka I hope your rain stops. We have had a soggy spring here
too!!!
Cheryl, this old girl does not like humity either. I usually complain
from June-October
Family is all well!!! Dad is feeling better each day.
