New to Atkins - Help!

  • I've done literally every diet. I was on WW until April when I quit (AGAIN). Now I'm trying Atkins. I don't have the book I've just been looking at their web site. I'm having trouble staying below 20 carbs. Here's what I've had today. For breakfast I had broccoli, mushrooms and tomatoes with eggs scrambled in. For lunch I had salad with broccoli with some salmon steak. With dressing, etc. I calculate that I've already had 20 carbs for the day and I haven't had dinner yet. I'm full but I know I'm going to want dinner. What am I doing wrong?

I think maybe broccoli and tomatoes are too high in carbs.

Thanks for any help and advice.
  • Welcome to the LC Forum. Thre is lots of info and advice here - plus fun!

Tomatoes are technically a fruit so they are pretty high carb. I'd suggest you try to get the book - maybe your Library? This is not a diet to do by the seat of your pants unless you want to get in trouble. There are supplements and other things to make it work - it's not just meat and veggies!

Hang out with us and ask lots of questions but try to get your hands on the book.
  • Hi

Your tomotoes are fairly high carb, but your broccoli isnt....and remember to subtract your fibre from your carbs.

    Eg. Carbs 26
    Fibre 7

    Total Carbs 19

Alot of us use www.fitday.com to calculate our carbs intake. It makes it so much easier.

I havent had a problem with over eating carbs in the veggie department. Take care to watch your veggie portions and you should be ok.

    I hope this helped
