The Daily Cluck - Monday, June 9

  • Good Monday Morning!

Up way too early this morning and am having trouble getting cranked up into Monday mode. Maybe another coffee? It doesn't help to have had a lousy night's sleep! I had the windows wide open and it seems the village was partying all night! Sound travels really well around here and there were barking dogs, squealing tires, somebody singing and playing his guitar, loons hollering and shrieking, etc. It's so peaceful in the country - NOT! Of course Hershey had to "woof" at every noise.

A bit of rain overnight so I may not be planting this morning. However, I'm pleased to announce that my veggie garden is more than ¾ planted now. I need to get some sweet peppers this morning as I got 16 jalepeno ones by mistake. I guess I can open a Mexican restaurant in Delta if I run out of projects!

We went to a lovely 40th Birthday Party yesterday at my pal John's place. John never thought he'd make it to 40 as he is HIV positive but sure is hale and hearty and in great shape. There was lots of food and lots of salad so I did eat OP. Somebody brought KFC and watching the kids eat that stuff was a real turn-off - greasy chins and t-shirts! And to think we used to get that stuff weekly back in the 70's when I was a single parent. It was a great party with a good mix of people, kids and dogs. I did not take my Girls because of Hershey's delicate condition.

Well, this is a ramble. Better get cracking and plan my day.
  • Well it's a gloomy day here too Ruth and I have just a few minutes to write and get out the door. I have a doc's appointment and I'm snack mom at the preschool. made oatmeal muffins and just cut up some apple slices. That should satisfy little hands!

Did manage to get some more of the perennial bed weeded out and planted some delphiniums and hollyhocks. Also got my burning bush in the ground--gee I can't wait for that vibrant red in the fall! Still have quite a ways to go in that bed (sadly neglected since I was working on the annual bed for the last 2 years) and I'm gleaning whatever lovely perennials I can find. It's a huge bed to fill and thank goodness there are many large perennials out there to fill up space! The best gift I go this year was a transplanted iris that I moved 2 years ago finally bloomed! It is just stunning

Off to do my duties as snack mom--have a great day!
  • Morning Chickies,

It is gloomy here too but I hope it turns sunny as DD has her school beach trip today. Tomorrow is her last day of school and DS gets out on Friday.

We go away in June/July so I am dashing around trying to get stuff ready to be abandoned

Hope everyone is having a good morning and think sunny thoughts!
  • Good Morning

Got all my petunias planted yesterday with the wonderful help of hubby's grandkids. Little Jimmy did a great job pulling the plants out of the pots without mangling them He insisted on trying and he did really good, mind you his sister, thought it was a pretty dirty job, and decided that she would supervise, and that was her way of helping.

Big bbq yesterday with 4 families on the street....ate some potato salad. I havent had potatoes since christmas...it was pretty tastey too Had my hamburger on buns, and for lunch yesterday I managed to talk hubby into taking me out to this little hotdog shak on the waterfront, it was great!! Best hotdogs Ive ever eaten. S'pose its time to get back to the program....maybe tomorrow.

Hopefully the rain will hold off today, and we can get some more painting done....and I want to get the impatients into the back yard today. Otherwise, it might be a week before I can get to them. Our yard, and side yards are full of maple tree keys...you would think mother nature thought there was a shortage of maple trees. Hubby said he has never seen so many before. So that will have to get cleaned up today too. We have pretty much left it until the tree was finished shedding. Hopefully its done!

Thats about it here, I hope everyone has a great day

  • I'M BACK!!!

    Good Monday Afternoon,

Well today finally seems like I am no longer working. Last week was so busy, I hardly had time to think about loosing my job. I had the hot dog lunch for the boys' classrooms. I managed to feed 50 kids for less than $20. That night I had a PTO meeting where I took over the job of PTO President. Monday I had my first meeting with Right Associates (the management firm Pfizer has arranged to help the displaced workers), when I arrived there someone wrote on the white board "We've been Pfired!" Wednesday I had a fifth grade events meeting at Big Apple Bagel. Thursday I was at school most of the day with end of the year school events. Friday the boys had half a day of school and Don had a tournament baseball game in Battle Creek at 12:00 (dumb time to schedule a game)

I will have to catch up on posts, hope everyone is doing well.

Ruthie,,,you mentioned Hershey's delicate condition, is she pg again?

    have a great day.

  • I'm back too! Vacation ended this morning at 6:30am. Diet starts tomorrow at 6:30am. (I overslept this morning or it would have already started.) I managed to gain back 3 lbs on vacation. Considering Grandma fed me all week, I did pretty well. Mom and I went out to eat a lot too, but I had decided that I wasn't sticking to the plan before I went north, so I'm not too upset about the gain. Gotta get back to work.
  • Evenin' Ladies

  • Hi all finally broke the "cold war" not much time worked late and well I am tired I have another 12 hour shift coming up. I will catch you all up later. tuesday DD2 had a meeting at a local HS for the german trip. so not much chatter tomorow.
  • Just a quick HI!!!
We really don't want to talk about life. It's too stressful, depressing and sounding like so much to opposite of every one else here. Well, maybe Sue and I could relate! lol

Keep counting the Blessings. We're healthy, I must admit that is why I've not been posting much lately. (tho puter is still giving me fits!) And I guess I should rant or share that DSS & DDIL just bought another NEW puter, new digi camera, new car and haven't paid rent in four years! hmmmmm. guess I will just say hi and wish you all a wonderful evening. Oh, and I guess I shouldn't mention the lipstick on SH's shirt as I was sitting across from him at lunch either, huh?

Jenny-Good to see you! Hope you get tons of unemployment $$$$ and can stay at home for awhile!

    Ruthie-The peonies are beautiful!

Gotsta go! Hugs & thoughts to all!
