Good Morning Ladies:

Aleka, I think they sell coconut oil in the grocery stores but the
selves here have been cleared!!! It costs $1.99 a bottle which
is really inexpensive!! When I looked on the web the asking
price is $15.99 plus shipping and handling!!!!! I will check the
health food stores this week too. If I can't find it I will wait until
it is restocked at the grocery store. Shouldn't take too long

We have another beautiful day here! This is the last day of our
long Victoria weekend, I know you guys have your long weekend
this weekend coming up!!! Bet you are all looking forward to that
one!

Hi Nikkic, hope everything is going well with you! Is the weather
still awsome??

Have a great day.
Anne.

Hi,
Happy Victoria Day, Anne. How are you celebrating it? Are you off today? Hope your having a good time.
The weather is still great here, but the humidity is starting to come in. It just hangs in the air and the air looks thick. At least it's still fairly cool out. When it's hot and humid, it's hard to breathe.
DH and I worked in the yard again yesterday. There were 2 large rocks that he wanted to get rid of. We had no idea how big they were, just knew they were always in the way when he mowed. They turned out to be huge. He finally got them out, then rolled them up the hill and now there are 2 big, ugly rocks sitting next to my patio. Some day, I want to make a water garden, so they will come in handy then.
I will have to get the Womens World magazine and see what you guys are talking about with the coconut oil. What is it suppose to do for you anyway?
Aleka, hope your weather is still nice, you had a long winter to wait for it.
Take care, Nikki

Hi Everyone:

Nikkic, we spent the day enjoying the great weather!!!We ate
too much but we all had a great time. You will not find the
article on coconut oil in this week's Women's World. I found you
a link with the info on thyroid heatlh and coconut oil. All in all
its saying the same thinghttp://www.aspartame.ca/page_oho2d.htm Let me know
what you think about it! I am going to give it a try. I remember
seeing Dr. Atkins on Larry King talking about low body temperature and thyroid problems. It could also be the reason I
can't seem to move beyond this point in weight loss. My temperature is always 97.4 or even less sometimes!!!! My nails
are very very fragile as well.

Talk to you later.

I tried to post earlier this morning, but it just wouldn't go.

We are having the best weather. Right now it's 85 deg. I was out shopping with a GF and when I got into my car the thermometer read 91 deg., but I think that was due to the hotop parking lot.

ANNE, happy Victoria Day to you! I'm glad that you had a good day. Holidays are meant to overeat. I took my temp. this morning just to see what it was, and it was 97.4, the last time I had taken my temp. was a few months ago when I thought I was coming down with a cold, and my temp was 97.2. I will look for the coconut oil when I go grocery shopping this week. I hope it works.

nikki, UGH, I know about rocks. We'd be millionaires if we could sell them! Glad you are having decent weather. Has it gotten really humid where you are? So far the humidity has stayed away from here. I think it's supposed to turn cooler towards the end of the week, hopefully it won't.

Hi Cheryl

Have a good evening.

Morning everyone,
The weather changed again. Yesterday it was uncomfortably humid and getting to the point of hot. Then in the evening, it dropped 20 degrees and rained. Now it's it's a beautiful sunny day, but kind of on the cool side and windy. I can't complain about it and I'm glad I can get back into the gardens today. I want to plant some more lettuce and replant the cucumbers since only 2 plants sprouted. I also want to plant some flowers today.
Anne, I'm glad you got to enjoy the weather with your family. I read most of that article. I was wondering how do you use the coconut oil? Do you just replace your other cooking oil with it?
I have read so many bad things about it, it's hard to know what is right or wrong anymore about anything. Like eggs are bad, then eggs are good, now their kind of good or they might be bad again. I'm interested to see if you find using coconut oil is helpful. It doesn't look like an over night solution, but then, nothing is. My weight loss has stalled too, but that's my fault. I haven't been at all good with my diet or exercise. I keep trying to get myself back on track and something comes up and I'm eating badly again for several days. Since I've been working outside so much, I've found I can't exercise, because if I do, I can't work very long. I have got to do something soon, I'm beginning to gain back weight again, even if the scale doesn't say so, my pants do.
Aleka, are you doing anything special for Memorial Day? We are going to a graduation party the day before for a friends boy. I can't believe he's already old enough to graduate. Time really does seem to go faster the older I get.
Got to go, Nikki

Hi Everyone:

Its a miserable day in Toronto rainy and it is going to be below
seasonable temperatures all week

Sue, you will like the gazelle, it is easy on the knees and joints.
I take my pulse to make sure I am working in my target range
but I find it quite easy which makes it a pleasure to keep going.
It is also very quiet so you can listen to music or watch TV
when you are exercising.

Nikkic, like you I have heard many negative things about
coconut oil. I figure, the whole Atkins diet sounds questionable
with everything we have heard about nutrition

You would use it in place of olive oil (or your oil of choice) in
cooking. The problem I am having is finding the darn oil. Every
place I go is sold out because of the article in Women's World
Magazine Who would believe there would be a run on
coconut oil!!

Hi Aleka: Whats your weather like today? You seem to get the
same kind of weather we have, great one day not so great the
next!! Let me know if you find the coconut oil or if you have the
same problem as me and only find empty selves

Anne.

Good Afternoon All:
Its a beautiful day but on the cool side but at least the sun is
out

Have you heard about the mad cow disease discovered in
Alberta Canada! What's next!!

Still on the hunt for my coconut oil......

Nikkic, sometimes it is so hard to stay on track....I am not exactly
making progress myself but like you I am staying the same which
is a part of success I am really proud of both of us.
Just think about where we were with our weights last summer,
we have done excellent!!!

Hi Aleka, any luck finding coconut oil? Do you still go to WW?

Have a great day ladies.

Angry Good afternoon....

The dreary weather is back...SIGH!

ANNE, I haven't gotten the coconut oil yet. I'll be going grocery shopping tomorrow and see if I can find it. From what the article said you need about 3 Tablesp. of it. Hopefully it will work. I did hear about the Mad Cow Disease in Alberta. It just seems like things are happening one right after the other. I've stopped going to WW. I just couldn't count another point!
I've decided to just watch my portions and carbs, plus walk because I don't want to diet anymore. I want to think about other things rather than be obsessed with food.

nikki, we aren't doing anything special for Mem. Day Weekend. It looks like it's going to be a cold rainy weekend anyhoo. Maybe that will keep the a lot of the tourists away.

Have a good evening.

Hi,
Anne, I heard about the Mad Cow disease too, sorry to hear about that. I am not very good about geography, how close is that to you and do you get any of your beef from that area. I have to admit, we grow beef here in this state, but I don't know where our beef really comes from. I have a feeling the best beef is sent to the big cities and we get the remainder at Walmart.

I am going to the store in a little while myself, so I'll look for the coconut oil and maybe buy some. Wonder what it tastes like and do you know if you can cook with it at higher temperatures or does it have to be lower heat?

Aleka, I completely understand how your feeling. I think I needed to take a little while myself and step back from this dieting rollercoaster. I'm not completely giving up, just tired of trying to figure out what should be simple. I mean, eating should be like breathing not a big deal or effort. I don't understand how it got so complicated. Walking is so important for your heart health. Even if your doing only 16 min. 3 times a week, it is good for your heart.

I did get a new scale today. I got it from QVC and it's great. Really accurate and also tells you your body fat %. I don't think I really wanted to know that part yet. It did make me want to get back to work on myself however. Plus, my stomach is starting to go out rather than in, so that was another insentive to get serious again. I have to sit down and do some real soul searching about this and decide what I am going to do. Anne, I know your right too, we have come a long way.

BTW, Anne, how is your dad doing? Is his back healing up? How does he feel? I hope he is feeling much better.

Take care, Nikki

Default Hi!

It actually turned out to be a very nice day after all. We've had peeks of sun and clouds. It's in the low 60's.

ANNE, went grocery shopping but could not find the coconut oil. I looked on the shelves that have the regular oils and in the health food aisles. On Sat. DH & I are heading to a health food grocery store, and I will look there. I have read that the coconut oil is solid, like Crisco, and you have to heat it to liquify it.

nikki, ya, I'm not completely giving up, but I do need a break. Have you decided what you want to do? Were you able to find the coconut oil?

Hi Cheryl, where have you been?

Enjoy the rest of the day.

Good Evening All:

Nikkic, we are not anywhere near where the ranches are
being closed down. Distance wise it would be similar to the
distance of New York and L.A.
Who knows though if that beef has made its way to us

Once again today we came up empty with the coconut oil.
It a very popular product at the moment. When the fever wears
off we will be able to find it:lol

I know what you mean about the dieting Aleka. Sometimes I
think the body needs a break. I get weighed once a week and
as long as I am not gaining I am a happy camper.

Like I've said to my DH a million times before, I don't care if it takes me years to get to my goal. I would be happy to lose
15 pounds a year for the next 3 years. In a way that would be
wonderful because it would be easier on my body. My main
goal now is not to pack it on again

Talk to you Friday!

Anne.

Hey Anne, Nikki and Alice!! Sorry to be a no-show for so long--after what happened when I posted on the last thread, I've been kind of afraid I'd mess things up again. (Last time I posted, a whole new thread started and it and the old one were locked---weird!!)

Anyway, I haven't been low-carbing. I was thinking this morning that I need to give it a try again. Here lately I haven't been doing any kind of diet. Have been walking, tho. I just can't seem to stay motivated for more than a few days--even if those few days are GREAT.......I don't know what's up with me.

I hope the three of you are doing wonderful.

What's up with the search for coconut oil? What are the benefits of it supposed to be....I wonder if it would be like opening a bottle of Hawaiian Tropic and trying to cook with it (Smell-wise, of course).

Hi!
Aleka, I've decided to go low carb/moderate calorie (eat a normal portion, not enough for a family of four) for now. I went to GNC and bought some Xenadrine bars, they were on sale. I can't find coconut oil anywhere. I would have to go to the big city to fnd it.

Anne, I hope I don't sound like a complete idiot. Thanks for telling me where you are. I could have looked at a map, I guess. I barely know where you are Aleka, out in the Northeast somewhere. Boy, do I live in a small little world of my own.
At least the mad cow disease is far away from where you are Anne. Hopefully, since they've identified it, they have it contained and can make the changes necessary to eliminate it. It has something to do with the feed to start with, doesn't it?
I like what you said about weight lose Anne. I feel the same way. I would like to be at my goal by the time I'm 50. I don't want to lose weight as fast as I was, my skin needs more time to recover, it's already hanging like an elephants hide in some places.

Cheryl, walking is great exercise and this time of year is great to be outside in. You didn't do anything to the thread. If I figured it out right, Ruthxxx split the thread in half so it would start as a new week on Sunday and then closed the first part of the thread. We try to start a new thread on Sunday, but it doesn't always happen. Personally, I forget the day of the week anymore, since I don't work. DH has different days off all the time, so that's no help.

I've been in a lot of pain lately. It's hard for me to even sit up at the computer. I've spent most of the last few days laying down with my foot elevated. It's better today, so maybe tomorrow, I can get back outside and get some yard work done. I have some more things to plant and I hate laying around and not doing it.
I go to see my ortho Dr. the first week of June, I hope he can either give me something to help with the pain, or do something with my ankle. Walking has become almost unbearable at times.

Well, like I said, I am doing better and will take it slow. Hope your all doing good, take care, Nikki
