Help Me!

  • I have left other messages on other topics, so if you already read this sorry! Anyways I really don't think this is right. I am on my first day of Atlkins' diet. i put in all my food intake today on fitday.com and came up with this:
    cal. 3,241
    fat 242
    carbs 16
    Protein 240

    today I ate:
AM: 2 scabbled eggs, and sausage patty
    snack: 1 stingcheese
lunch: 2 beef patties with cheese, mayo and lettuce
    snack: 1 small slim jim
dinner: grilled chicken, cheese, and bacon, with side salad of lettuce, cheese and ranch dressing.

    Is this about right?
    Please let me know
    Thanks
  • Hi Tonya, you need more veggies than just lettuce. Eat 'em up...they are good for you and provide roughage!

    Welcome and good luck
  • I've personally found that I need to watch the calories. In the begining of Atkins, you chow down on the things that were always "forbidden" but eventually, you will even things out a bit. Fitday.com will also tell you how many calories you're burning per day - just watch them.

    Enjoy!
  • yes, I know I need more veggies, but right now just trying to get the hang of things. It is the first day! Besides, the only green veggies I like are green beans so those are limited, and corn and carrots seemed to out of the question. I just wanted to know if the calorie intake is supposed to this high?
  • grill em....get some veggies of every color.red and yello peppers, mushrooms, greeen beans ..etc

For now do not worry about the fat intake. after a while you will start to limit the intake many find they do not eat enough on this diet, within a week or two. so enjoy the food now and you will see that you will start to cut down. your stomach is used to eating a lot of food but it will realize that it does not need so mcuh, and cut back and the stomach will shrink too.

Headach will pass in about 1 week (sorry) and the energy will suddenly arrive at that time.

I am a person with high sugars during pregnancy (but not high enough to be called gestational diabeties 2 out of the 3 during the glucose tolerance tests.) I have problems with swings of high and low, But all clear with this diet, I even found a FS of 59 and was totally fundtinal and feeling great. (I work as a nurse and one of my coworkers did a FS as she was feeling yucchy and got 250+ so I did mine for kicks) I find i will run abut 80 - 90 normally nomatter what.

For dairy I would reccoemnd taking a Calcium, magnesium, zinc supp. theat should help. and with an increase of activity it should stay normal. If you do not exercise the calcium will not stay in the bones so exercise is imperative.

I had a bone scan 2 years ago (41 at the time) and came out much denser that a normal woman of my age. I am not a big milk drinker but do love milk but had cut it out due to expence and getting fatter) I also breast fed 4 kids and limited my milk intake dure to lactose intolerance in my kids (if I ate any dairly they would scream for 3 hours straight) nd if I took calcuim i would be sick to my stomach so it was 1 year each that I did take no calcium and breast fed)

So any ways bottom line I have no idea how I managed to be denser than most women of my age but I took my cal supps and exercised (with weights)

That must be why I weigh so much!!!

(The milk topic came from another section)

although now the house is smellin like it, but I am determined to survive! I ate my egg & cheese omelet this morning with some bacon, so feeling pretty full. It waiting on that energy to show up!

Well nice to hear from everyone, chat soon

    Tonya
  • tonya,
Join the daily and meet some really nice and helful chicks...Nice to be remembered

Good job on the pies too!
  • Hi Tonya & Welcome!
Already great advice given..... I don't do Atkins so I really can't comment on induction. But, do remember that with any LC woe the more protein & water the better! The protein helps to prevent cravings and leave you better satisfied. And there's not enough to be said about eating the veggies and drinking your water.

Good luck and looking forward to getting to know you!

  • J - what plan are you following now if any??
  • Rachel - I can't imagine doing anything but CAD. I did it for so many years plus during maintenance for six years and the plan fits so easily into my lifestyle. I'm fortunate that the reward meal doesn't set me off and it definately saves me! lol

The trick is staying OP - and finally I've actually been staying OP for the last two months (with only occasional 1 or 2 forbidden bites) and have dropped 23 lbs besides having the surgery!

  • Excellent Job!! Iknew you said you were staying OP so I was curious....I have lost 18 with Atkins first and now Sugar Busters...I hope I can keep it up..I feel alot better without all the sugar. Ans since I get the whole wheat pasta and triscuits I dont feel like I am missing anything....
