Default The Cluck - Memorial Day - May 26

Good morning all! This is a long weekend for the American chickies but us Canuks are back to a regular Monday.

It rained pretty much the whole darn weekend! I just have to get some planting done today, rain or sun. I got a huge perennial order over a week ago and it's still sitting in the shade on the deck.

For now, more coffee and a read of the Sunday papers. I hape everyone had a good weekend despite the rain in most of the Continent!

We got your rain this morning, Ruthie...it's pouring here. Well, a good day to cook, and maybe shop! I just hung out yesterday and played on the computer and watched HGTV all day! Made some salmon and green beans for dinner, and just plain wasted time. It was nice.

We are off for Memorial Day- DN is marching in the local village parade with her softball team, and DS spent 4 hours yesterday cutting and gluing felt letters for the team banner that they will carry. Now it is pouing rain, who knows if they will do it at all? Well, this may call for some shopping for sure!

have a good one, I'll probably be back later at least once!

Now that most of the shakies have left my body I can get back to a quasi normal routine. M has preschool this morning and yeah, I'm complaining about the weather too, cold wet and drab....

Thanks for all your kind words of support, it really does mean a lot to me. I can never predict when the disorder will flare up, it looks like this is yet another blip in the road for me. I had a good 6 months med free and I am grateful for it. Buut now that time has ended and I'm Ok with being on the meds again. This will alwasy be a part of my life for now on since this disorder is just manageable, never cured. Once again, I really do appreciate all you have said in support of me in this and everything else!

Now as for the eating--yep, the carb monster has found me in the guise of peanut butter and jam sandwiches! I'm going to have to do some serious damage control soon....

Have a great day everyone!

Total Carb intake was 16 grams, much different then Sat!
Hope you all have a wonderful day, Im off to take the kids to the park, get them riled and wound up, and then hopefully a nap!

Morning, Pooky, Ruth, Dottie & Colann!

Pooky glad you re feeling better!

Yesterday turned nasty about 3pm, got the pool patio cleaned before the rain tho, is cloudy today but supposed to clear later!

Not much on tap for today - wishing my kids would quit fighting every time they are in the same room!!

Staying OP which is a good thing....

Hey Scooby! My kids are currently seperated!

Morning Colann....please send some of your good weather this way! It is pouring out!

Glad you are feeling a bit better, Pooky! Get rid of the pb&js you know you will continue to feel better. How 'bout treating you and your dh to a nice steak dinner...or something?

So, Dottie...what was good on hgtv? Any new ideas for the new house? I have a friend that made beautiful rollup curtains out of towels. Barely off white but the fabric had alot of texture to it and then she tied it up with a rough type of rope....read clothes line...it looked great. Now, if I did it, well somehow it would look like dirty laundry hanging on a clothes line.

Hey Ruth, More rain here today too. Cancelling out the parade. Enjoy your Sunday paper (it is monday though, isn't it?...I am easily confused )

did i mention that it is STILL raining here? Dh has to work and I think that I am going to try to bribe the boys with a trip to the toy store.

Been having some pain in under the top right side of my rib cage. Jiff thinks it is my gall bladder. she says I fit the profile. Fat Female and Forty.

f........

Hello All!
Well had some computer problems last week-so I was not around-I did check in when I could though and read a few post. My husband tried to hook the Road Runner up on new computer in basement-needless to say we need a professional to do the job!

Pooky-I need to catch up on back post to see what happended-but whatever it was I am glad you are feeling better!

Colann-I am in Central Ohio too-believe that?? Anyway DH is off in June and wants to take my 4yr and 8yr old to some Indian Caverns-can you PM me and tell me where you went?? Thanks-we seem to be living parrell lives!
Well I had the psychic lady at my house Friday night-I asked her about my weight loss issue-she said"The first thing I think of is Atkins-have you been doing it on and off since Christmas?" Uh Yea...so she says" I feel like in June you are going to really get serious about this and lose a bunch of weight-I feel that you will be ready and just do it!" Well we will see!

WEll I need to catch up ladies!

Unhappy I guess the word of the day is "RAIN"

It could be worse.....

Like "drought"?

Anyway. I arrived at the Jersey Shore (from Boston) for a few weeks vacation last Thursday and it hasn't stopped raining yet!

Have been cooking up a storm of low carb meals to freeze (i.e., chicken wings, legs, etc.) in the hopeful anticipation of sunnier, warmer weather in which I will be so busy being outdoors I won't have time or inclination to cook.

Have also been doing yoga and step tapes since all beach and boardwalk walking I planned to do is delayed now - Rain I will do, cold I will do - - - rain AND cold I will not do.

Enjoy the holiday - those of you who have it off in the States.

Hi gang, haven't been around much lately, but trying to catch up.

The weather here in Dallas is beautiful today. Stormed really bad Saturday night though.

I'm doing okay food wise, but not great. Still doing lots of exercise.

Hope all you Americans have a great holiday, and you Canadian have a great workweek.

Good afternoon, Chickipoos.
I finally got my South Beach Diet book that was on order and I've been reading through it. Lots more interesting recipes than in the Prevention magazine version. I feel quite inspired after a week (or two) of carb binging. I think I'm ready to take this seriously. The doctor who wrote this book makes a lot of sense to me, especially how excess weight relates to diabetes and heart disease. I picked up all the foods I need yesterday so I have no excuse.
This morning I went to the pool and spent an hour deep water walking. Absolutely wiped when I got out of there. Came home and had a SBD omelet and then headed out to work on the weed crop in our front border. Can't even see the blooming shrubs for all the tall grass and weeds in there. I managed to get about two hours of work done but then it started to get a bit too warm for me so here I am. It's now 2 pm and the omelet is starting to wear off so I think it's time to make some lunch.
Pooky, I'm so glad you're coming around. That must be a very scary feeling.

Angry Boston, Boston

Hi L!

I live in Boston itself. About 4 blocks from the MFA, 6 blocks from Fenway Park, 2 blocks from Harvard Medical and right off Rte. 9.

How's that for specific?

Where on the North Shore?
