Well, Ive never started the daily thread before!! Since Ive been up since 2:30, and its now 4:30, I thought Id say "Mornin'!!"
I havent had my coffee yet, so, if I sound like Im not making sense, dont pay any attention
Yesterday was another quiet day at the store. Hubby was out on a job site again, but he has another big order for signs. So that should help this month. We have a few more big orders to arrive, then I can redo my windows. Hopefully pull some ppl in off the street.
Our weekend should be pretty quiet. We will stop in at blockbuster to see if we can get harry potter. Tomorrow, I think I just might drag hubby to the park and use him for balance while I learn to roller blade Ive got the blades, Ive had them for about 3 yrs, but never took them out of the box!! Time to learn, before my daughter gets better at it than me!
Ive given up on belly dancing. 1st, when my lower back hurts, belly dancing REALLY hurts. 2nd, I just dont think I have it in me to shake my rear like that It was fun, and hubby was excited about it......but its just not for me lol
Hi everyone. I am up early also and thought I'd check in. It is going to be a beautiful day here in Iowa, sunny and in the 70's. I am going to get some much needed yard work done, also might wash my bedding and hang it out on the line, nothing is quite as nice as crawling between sheets that smell like the fresh outdoors. I'm also going to help my Mom do her yard work. My Dad used to do all of that stuff but he has leukemia and the diease has really progressed. He doesn't have energy to do much of anything anymore. Well I will talk to everyone later.
robin... you are an absolute inspiration, but why were you up at that unholy hour?????? good grief!!!
and good morning miss julie... sounds like you have a busy busy day planned.
as for me, i have no idea what the day will bring. either a hike with the dog or a trip to the gym this morning. mom can go get her nails done without me today. knitting class is over, but i might just go over there for an hour or so to knit and hang out.
and probably out to lunch with mom. gotta keep the old lady busy and moving! AND taxes need to get done [sorry meryl... i'm jsut so late with them and they owe me a whole lot of money!!!].
lord and taylor is having a sale, and they have these cute rain slickers only in sizes up to xl. dare i hope that they'll fit me????? i think my top is about a size 14-16 these days...
A lovely sunny Saturday with temps above freezing - translation: 8 muddy paws! My kitchen floor is once again beyond a Swiffer solution! Anyhow, I'll take it over ice and snow. (I know there will be more snow here this month but I'm enjoying "spring" for now! )
I seem to have lost my earlychick status as I am still struggling with the 3 hour difference and the time change. I didn't get around to cooking dinner until after 8 last night and slept until 7 this morning. That would be 4 BC time so I am on schedule!
Robin - I saw a stuffed moose in the Vancouver airport and thought of you. My darn camera was checked through or I'd have snapped him for you.
Jiff - sounds like a day of good stuff. I'd love to join you with my Girls for that hike. What are you knitting, by the way? I've been thinking of getting back to it again.
Julie - I have a pal in Iowa - Sandy Greiner who is a senator. When I go to visit her next, we might connect. I am so sorry about your Dad. However, it's good that you live close and can help your Mom.
Lucy and Hershey were beside themselves with delight when we picked them up yesterday. Hersh was her usual perfect self during the stay but Lucy reverted to submissive peeing every time Morna looked at her! Not a good thing and will need to be fixed before she hits the show ring. If she thinks Morna is The Big Boss, wait until she meets trainer/handler Lin, aka Ilsa Queen of the SS! Don't tell anybody but I'd be just as glad if Lucy did not have to be shown. Shhhh!
There is still lots of catching up to do on the threads but SO FAR I have not unearthed and major goofs, chickies - or did Suzanne come in and delete the naughties?
Mount Laundry has reappeared after the trip so I have a morning task. Yesterday I made the big mistake of downloading my pics and got nothing done. My suitcase is still downstairs waiting to be unpacked. I refuse to lug it upstairs and then lug the laundry back down. This afternoon the doggage and I will be walking in the park. The meadow is way too muddy and wet for a romp .... but soon!
I am back I have a new to me car!! NICE one so finally all my spare time I can start to get things back in order here, and start to focus on getting my life back on tract!!!
I spent a very productive morning and afternoon out in the yard. We had such and early frost and snow in the fallI din't even get a chance to clean my yard! So here we are for the next several days inot massive yard cleanup. I already tackled myfront bed and I am hoping to get to the peony bed this morning. Dh has gone to the computer show with several thousand dollars to buy things for the guys at work (trust me, he really loves doing this). M is watching TV but she will join me outside in a few minutes. I have been doing great on my plan, any craving and I'm stuffing protein in my mouth like no tomorrow. water hasn't been an issue since I have been working outside, I need to drink a lot. I am hoping with all this heavy labour that will shed a few pounds too!
Sue, great to hear about your new car! enjoy!
Jiff, even if you may think it's mundane, we still like to hear from ya hon! And WAY TO GO on the loss!!! Gosh, you are SO my hero...
Ruth, battling muddy paws (actually muddy bodies!) myself. Got so disgusted I picked up R lock stock and barrel and threw her in the bathtub for a quick bath!!
Robin, enjoy setting up your new displays!
Sherrie ((HUGS)) Hope you and your man can sort things through and I know you're on the right track with some counselling
Julie, blessings to your family and enjoy the time you can spend with your Mom and Dad
Saturday at work...This really is a nice time. Time to do thing I don't do with everyone here.
I put my house plants out on the patio this morning. Hopefully it will not gee too cold anymore, I keep them outside during the summer.
Ole Alvin is playing in a golf tournament Monday!!! It will be the firt time he's really played in about 10 years. It seem impossible that last year at this time he couldn't even walk from the bedroom to the den without stopping to rest and loosing his breath! He hasn't been the poster child like Jiff has been, but he has lost about 215 pounds and is a completely different person! Next Saturday will be his 1 year snniversary!!! and me, I'm still struggling along!
Sherry take things nice and slow and see what happens, God does work in mysterious ways.
Hi Chicks. Just popped in to say hello. I've been busy with various projects lately. My women's club has it's AGM on Monday and, as president, I have lots to do to get ready for that. I finally finished my quilt square for the quilt we want to raffle off (some day...so far there are only about six squares made, LOL) I figured I should make an effort seeing as I've been nagging the rest of them to get busy.
I've also started knitting a baby outfit for #2 daughter's babe (due in November). Man, oh man, are my arthritic hands ever feeling it...mostly in the wrists. OUCH! But, I will persevere. I had to switch from a fairly complicated pattern to one that is easier. I'm so out of practice.
Also have to remember to make a salad for this do. I just know they're going to re-elect me as pres for another year. This will have to be the last one as we are limited to 3 years, thank goodness. It's not that big a job but it can be a hassle and really interferes with my leisure time. Julie I'm so sorry your Dad's in such a bad way. That must be very hard on all who love him. Robin I congratulate you on your willingness to suffer all kinds of bumps and bruises. Somehow I think the belly dancing would be easier on my aching back than falling flat on my patootie from roller blading. Pooky I'm always amazed at how quickly you Easterners go from complaining about tons of snow still on the ground to actually digging in it. Watching the cross Canada weather forecast last night and it looks like most of the country is already up in the double digits (celsius). It's very wet here. No way could I do any digging yet. Lots of spring flowers blooming though. Ask Ruth. She was just out here, but you folks in the east catch up and pass us very quickly once April and May come along.
Gotta go. My hands hurt too much to type any longer.
thats why Im taking hubby with me, he can catch me before I hit the ground
I like this knitting idea Linda and Jiff have started. It sounds like a very good idea to keep my hands busy. I might even dig out a quilt pattern and make a flag for the front of the store. Thanks for the idea Linda!
hi ladies!!! I GOT THE SLICKER!!! and i was dancing around the store with it on!!! it's lavendar, and it fits perfectly. i never DARED to think that this would happen!!!! it's an XL. a MISSES XL!!!!!
and after i posted this morning it was still raining, so off to the gym. did all the weights. took mom shopping, and then a quick lunch [which didn't stay down. oh well]. bought 3 pairs of summer shoes, too!!!! on sale. ya GOTTA get things on sale.
but we also ended up getting mom a lovely washable linen pants and tunic outfit that will be perfect for easter.
and then the sun was out, nice and warm. so off with the dog.. and ruth, anytime you want to bring the girls alone, just say the word!!! We hiked about a half hour or a little longer, and then we met charlie and goliath. charlie is a 10 year old collie, who has 'those ideas' still. maggie doesn't, but he kept trying.
the real love was goliath. he and maggie seemed to fall in love at first sight, and he was a perfect gentleman. all 200 pounds of him. a tan and white saint bernard. so all three played for another half hour or more, and when it was time to go, i got maggie into the car, and goliath lay down right in the middle of the road AND CRIED!!!!!! He didn't want to leave maggie, and she didn't want to leave him.
they were cute. and then out to dinner with mom and her buddy. such a relief to have someone else along to talk with mom!!
glad to see we're all such busy ladies.
and thanks pooky. i just feel so boring... but it's great to know that you ladies are around and i can just babble along.
Hi everybody- it IS nice to hear even the dullest day from friends! I love reading about everyone's going's on!
Mine hits the all time dull limit- wiped down the kitchen, put bread in the breadmaker for DH, a turkey breast in the oven, laundry is done(most of it, 5 pairs clean underwear each!) And that's all folks. I am just hanging around, maybe I'll go over and play with DS and DN. Showed my mother the new house yesterday and I think she really liked it. It has had virtually NO decorating for years, and although everything works- it's ugly yellow countertops, bright green carpets everywhere, and the lovely 1950's bathrooms- one is pink tile trimmed with black, and the other is Ugly Green trimmed with grey. But they're clean and in great condition, so they'll stay awhile. We'll go to contract this week, then wait for the bank. But I've got DH cleaning the basement, and sorting books in preparation! We have WAAY too many books!
Time to go out and play for a bit. Have a great one,
dottie
Its another sunny day here in Buffalo, hubby and I are off for our Sunday Starbucks, then who knows. Yesterday I spent alot of the day making yellow bows to tie around the trees on the avenue. I have a garbage bag and large box full. Im still not sure I have enough. Anyway, hubby and I may be tying yellow ribbons for part of the afternoon.
I'll get my rollerblades out today, and head over to the park, Im just not sure when. Should be a good laugh if nothing else lol
It's cold but sunny here. If there is not too much wind, I may do another stint of raking. We still have a bit of snow and ice but there are lots of drier patches. No muddy paws this morning! However, rain is in the forecast for tomorrow so ...
Hershey went to Church with me this a.m. and managed to snitch a cookie from one of the little kids. I shamed her and she slunk away under another pew. She gets weighed again tomorrow when we go for spring shots but doesn't seem to be worrying about it!
Harry just ASKED for a salad with lunch today! What on earth is he thinking? He is a real Mr Carb but may be a bit worried about his BGL which was not good on our trip. Homefries and toast and jam with breakfast - ahem! I was very careful not to over carb and mine stayed in fine range. Hmmmm - I may have made a convert to LC! Or to Low GI, at least.
I'd better get out of Church garb and do some cooking. Maybe wings with the salad?
