  • It is true that Atkins/LC is not for everyone. But it is also true that it is great for some!

A low fat and calorie diet is not for me because I am additicted to carbs. I would not be able to stop at one serving of ice cream! Now that I have sugar and carbs out of my system, it is easy to resist them. I will admit the first two weeks were hard, but now I feel better than I have in a long while.

I am not losing miraculous amounts of weight with this woe, but I have lost 11 in 7 weeks and that is 1.5 per week. Slow, sure, but it is going and I can really live with this woe.

Try it for one month and see what happens. You can always go back to more traditional methods of weightloss if you find it is not for you.

  • Thanks for pointing this out, GinaMarie: not everyone is addicted to carbs. That is why a low fat diet works for some and not others.

  • Hi just wanted to say that I don't think when I lost 78 pounds on low-carb it was water weight.

And..........my little sister lost 110 pounds of water?? I don't think so
  • Why are low-fatters downing Low-carbing?
I'm a little confused as to why Low-fat lovers are coming into the low-carb boards and downing it! I think it's inappropriate to say the least. I wouldn't dare go into the low-fat board and share how that way of living letft me hungry all the time, made my blood pressure go up, my cholesterol go up and basically GAIN 40lbs???

I'm thinking this is supposed to be a SUPPORT board. Maybe the low-fat lovers should continue to SUPPORT one another in their area and the low-carb people can stay and SUPPORT one another here??

  • i just LOVE hoosiers... they always cut to the chase!!!!
  • Dead on, Jiff and maxsmom77! This website is supportive for all types of healthy eating plans, iowasweet. Low carb does not work for everyone but it certainly DOES work for lots of us.

I think I will lock this thread so we don't get too many feathers ruffled in the LC Coop. Kayecee, I hope you got some answers to help you in your decision. You might also check out the home page for descriptions of LC plans.

May I also suggest that new folks start new threads on their own, rather than introduce themselves within an existing thread. I am having a heck of a time keeping up with everybody and know we will lose some questions as they get buried in long threads.

And I am STILL snowed in!
