Default Got rid of diet sodas and guess what!

I broke my plateau! I've lost one and three quarters pound in the last four days verses three quarters of a pound in the last 2 weeks! I really think the sodas were the problem! I have now officialy been on a diet for one month and I have lost just a quarter of a pound shy of 12 pounds!!! Click on my journal if you want to read just how hard the temptation has been this week! Now I'm going to update my profile! Yippeee!

Smile Congratulations!

It's so funny how our bodies react to stuff like that.

WTG! Glad you finally broke through!

Angry Way to go!!!

I'm glad you finally broke through! It's definately helped me to give up the diet Dews. I'm almost into virgin fat. I've got the formula down, now I just need to stick to what works.

For me its:

1400-1600 calories
No Caffine
Under 20 carbs/day
Lots of Protein
Water
Workout

I've experimented with different plans this week and this is the only way I lose. The protein bars don't hurt/hinder me, but dang if the caffine doesn't. That would explain my 2 month plateau back in the fall.

I'm hoping this adjustment will let me continue to lose, without any more major plateaus. I don't have any more vices to give up. LOL

Hi all. I'm new here. Good to meet me. I read this thread with intense interest; thanks for starting it, Wishing. Six days ago I cut out all diet soda and anything to do with NutriSweet. At the same time I started on Induction (done so many times before in the past 3 years) following it to the letter (except for an exercise plan and only cut back on morning coffee so far). I'm doing the supplements, three meals/day, 20 carbs, >64 oz. water/day, etc. In six days I lost six pounds. Frankly, I have never had this kind of success before on Atkins Induction phase. Today though I found Diet Rite which contains Splenda so I tried it. Good stuff and since I crave oranges a lot it tasted very good. What do you think of Splenda in diet sodas and do you think it will inhibit my weight loss if I continue to drink it? I should also mention that in December 2000 I gave up sugar. I've not had what most people call 'normal' desserts since then. What little sugar I have had would have come from only a small amount of bread, crackers and milk that I have eaten on rare occasions since that time.

Splenda does have carbs, Isis, but I don't know how many would be in Diet Rite. It wouldn't hurt to check. It sounds like you're doing great without it so why fix it if it ain't broke?

I drink diet rite..its the only kind of diet soda I will allow myself to have. It hasnt hindered me at all. It is made from sucralose, which is one of the sweeteners that is supposed to be okay. Its pretty much the only diet soda out there that contains it! Its cheap, and tastes great too. AS long as you continue to lose, I say drink it if you like it!
