Saturday Jan. 25th chick chat

  • Good Morning everyone!

I'm well slept and now I'm ready to join the world once again. Yesterday was a terrible day. It started at 5am and went south from there. I'm think I'm on a bad luck streak. Started with Miree throwing up, then the dog barking her silly head off and wouldn't be calmed no matter what we did, then I broke a tall lamp, then thinking it was just the bulb I plugged it back in and blew a fuse for the room--the room the computer is in, then I get a call from dh and he ditched the car (thank God not hurt!), broke the bumper, rammed into someone's fence and it's going to cost me $800 to fix the car and we're still waiting to hear from the guy about his fence. This all before 9 am. The rest of the day has been me and dh trying to fix the problems all day. Parts have been ordered for the car for Monday (thankfully we can still drive it!), the fuse was repaired by late this afternoon (the fuse box is mislabelled and I can't even begin to understand the thing!), lamp is sitting in the basement and we are using our table lamp, accident recorded at the cop shop, and Mireee stopped throwing up and ate some macaroni for dinner! So what does all this mean? It means I was very tired by the time I had to go to bed but mostly grateful that it was working itself out. If there was ever a day for Murphy's Law...

Haven't stepped on a scale and my eating has been piecemeal at best. I don't over eat and I'm not constantly eating, just eating to exist, know what I mean? And no, it hasn't been entirely OP but I'm not too concerned since I am still eating OP meals when I make them.

Deb and Ruth, merging? So does that mean it's DebkayRuthxx or RebkayDuthxx?

Deb, I'm so sorry to hear about yet another one of your friends. ((hugs))

Ruth, take it easy on that wrist! Hope the Bingo went OK.

Jenny! How is a Superbowl party quiet?

    Happy Anniversary Leenie!!

Mis, can you use that recipe with macadamia nuts? Dr. Atkins says they are the lowest in carbs and I usually ahve a can of them with me at all times to snack on

Robin, it's always the same here in Bracebridge--after all we're in the heart of cottage country and the economy relies on tourists! There's hardly a soul to be found on the main street in winter, so the stores are really empty. Any way you can consider closing down for a month to cut costs? My SIL's parents run a gift store in Fenelon Falls and that's what they do.

Dyan, that's so true about pg young women! My 19 year old cousin was 5 months pg when she found out--because the baby kicked her!

OK Linda, now I'm going to have to try the cocoa! Mmmmmm...

Oh Dottie, just enjoy the silence this weekend! Who ever said January was slow?

SHERRIE! Way to go!! You have a right to feel proud!

    Hiya Jiff and Peachie!

    Have a good day everyone!
  • Hi Pooky
    ...and all to come.

up early to exercise and get working on the to-do list. Mostly inside things, as it's still cold around these parts. but I don't think it's as bad as yesterday(+9F.) I'd like to get to Macy's, but maybe tomorrow. We bought some shirts and ties for DH and have had to return 3 out of 5 items for imperfections. Macy's isn't what it used to be, at least here. shirt dye ran all over, a tie with wrong fabric stitched into the neck part, and another shirt sized wrong. Lands End seems to be most reliable for men's shirts, I think.

My vacuum cleaner went last weekend (it's been falling apart for a while) so I want to do the whole house really thoroughly today with the new one; corners and edges and under furniture haven't been done well in a while. And some cooking-meatballs, sausages and sauce, maybe a breakfast casserole/quiche for next week, some muffins for DH.

A little dull, but peaceful. I can live with that!

I've read some of the dailys for last week, so sorry about the recent losses, and illness. I'll be thinking of you all today.

And Pooky? Maybe you should just stay in bed today!

    See you later
    dottie
  • Just a quick post as I have a large day planed, I am going out to buy a tredmill???

Goodfor me-I mean good for you Sherrie girl!!!

It is so cold I wouldn't mind the old fox chasing this old chick around the coop today

I am praying for all of the hurting hearts to heal,

    Well all for now,
    Love Tazcat
Didn't know, well I hope this is the blessing I would think it is.
  • Good Morning Ladies

Got my weight training in already..with hubby watching over me very closely. He's afraid Im going to over do it and get hurt. Im doing all my stretches and Im only working with 3lb weights to start with. I dont move up to 5lbers for another 2 weeks. He can be overprotective at times. But I love him to death!!

Pooky, funny you should mention closing for a couple months. Hubby and I were talking about that yesterday. Its actually costing us more to sit there with no customers than it would be to close for the month. So Im thinking, heading down to Arizona for the month of Jan next year might be a great idea!!! Lets hope for a prosperious 3rd &4th quarter this year!!

Im suppose to be going to some sort of show at the convention center, keeping a gf company. But she is a very nervous driver, and I dont know my way around downtown enough to offer to drive....and its starting to snow and blow pretty bad. I may just cancel and stay with hubby at the store where its safe

Sherrie....go ahead and toot your horn!!!!!! Your doing a great job, WAY TO GO

Well thats it for now, have a great weekend
    Robin
  • Morning All!!

I slept in today--kids stayed all night with freinds so me and DH went out and had a nice dinner and some drinks (I stayed OP during dinner and actually drank low-carb too)

Sherrie--you give me hope!! WTG!! I am so jealous...I mean proud!!!! What a great feeling that must be.....

The recipe was talking about could probably be made with macadamia nuts--I don't see why not--I made it yesterday, it needs fine tuned-or I need the exact recipe..it was good but my freinds was better!

Well another cold an bitter day here...just trying to keep warm!

    see ya

    mis
  • Hi all!!

Pooky - I agree back to bed for you!!!!!!

NOt much happening here, still freezing cold with snow on the ground. DH took the last 2 days off to stay home with the kidlests as DS's school was closed and the babysitter could not get here. I think we are winding down with this babysitter/housekeeper - we have had her 2 years and she is deteriorating in performance - I have tried to talk to her but to no avail and she did not even call and say she was not coming yesterday....I am at a loss....she is costing a small fortune and I have spent the better part of the morning cleaning the house - which is her job. SOOOOO I am not happy!!!!

We have a girl from our church babysitting tommorrow so we can attend a SUperBowl Party - GO BUCS!!!!

Have a great day everyone ! I must get back to my mess!!!
  • I slept in untill 11am. I kinda feel like I've blown the entire day. My brain must have needed the rest. There is so much drama/trauma going on in my family and nothing I can do about it.

My Grandpa has been moved to the Coronary Care Unit. He keeps having dizzy spells and they think he's about to have a stroke. He still has the pneuonia. (I hate that word, I can't spell it.) Then I get a call that my Mom's cousin (the new baby's Grandma) is in intesive care with something called Guillem-Barre Syndrome. Basically she's paralyzed; her face, eyes, arms and legs. She's on life support, a ventilator and a feeding tube. She's only 46. There's a 5% chance she could die, and if not she'll spend years learning to walk and live again.

Sometime I think if it wasn't for you chicks, I'd go crazy. I feel better just writing it all down. It doesn't seem quite so overwhelming.
  • Prayers and healing, comforting vibes being sent your way, Dyan. Hang in there - He doesn't give us anything we can't handle.

  • Today, my bursitis in left shoulder is giving me a lot of grief so I'm just going to say hello and good-bye. Hoping to get in to see doctor for anti-inflammatory prescription and/or a cortisone shot.
    Good day all.
  • It's just me!!
    Hello all!

  • Dyan for babys grandma with gillian barre syndrome. believe me it is catastrophic but the recovery (if and when she gets there is not as slow as that) it is a virus that attacks the central nervous system and can be very dangerous, and some times can reoccur. in some events usually does not. except if the body is very stresed. but recovery is usally much faster than the few years that you were told. I have seen many folks get to that point and within a month once the turn around they usually are much better and walking may be a bit shakey but walking just the same. they will have good and bad days for a few years till their system gets better. (If i remember right it is similar to a common virus but in the CNS>) i may be wrong. It has been a few years but i would not forget that. so for now concentrate your prayers for her to turn around. with out any complications. (mine are being send that way too) for grandpa what kind of tests have they done? does he have atrial fibrillation? that would cause dizzy spells and if uncontrolled could cause a stroke if a clot lets loose. (if he is haveing very uncontrolled bursts with irregular heart rates that would send him to the CCU) that usually can be taken care of with a pill called digoxin (Can be given IV for more immediate control) and a few others can also work (remember president regan when he got admitted to the hospital it was with atrial fibrilation) but the trick is getting him controlled first (more prayers for him too)

mis why dont you have the puter rember who you are. i usually have to type my name only once every 2 - 3 months when some one cleanes the puter out.

Scooby good help is hard to find. let her know that her job is on the line for reliability and performance and see if that helps. keep her on her toes!

Pooky when it rains it pours, I know the feeling i am still trying to get out from uncer the bills and everytime more pop up! UGH what is a woman to do??? i try to hook but nobody wants me!
