Robin,
Where do you get the recipes for such fabulous things as curried meatballs and broccoslaw??? Can you share? They sound great.... |
Hi Tilly
The broccoslaw is the easiest!! lol You can get a bag of the broccoli coleslaw or broccoli medley in the bagged salad section of the grocery store. I just add a blob of miracle whip to it, and some bacon bits and thats my lunch with a piece of meat. Its GREAT for the fibre intake. This is the first time Ive been "regular" on Atkins!! Curried Meatballs.......well, this is one of my own recipes and of course I dont measure anything, but from what I remember you throwing a soup together with blue cheese in it, you will be able to fix it up just fine. Meatballs.....ground beef, parm cheese, salt & pepper, worchestire sauce, curry and anything else you might think would go good with curry!!! Roll them up, with a bit of olive oil, and fry in pan until all sides are a nice brown colour.....put them in a pan and set aside Curry Sauce.....can of cream of mushroom soup.....as much curry as you like...I usually put 6-8 tablespoons in it.(the meat balls soak up alot of the sauce) worchestire sauce(couple shakes of the bottle), ketchup(very little, just enough to say you put some in) soy sauce (couple shakes of the bottle), salt and pepper. Heat that up until its nice and hot....and pour over your meatballs, put in the oven at 350 for about an hour. Turn the meatballs over 1/2 way thru. These are really good cold too!! I just posted my broccoli curry soup in the recipe section if your interested I hope you like them :) |
Robin, yum!! Thank you. I think I read in another post of yours that you had lost quite a bit of weight on another low carb plan before starting Atkins - want to share details? I'm looking at all low carb plans to find the one that will be right for me when I want to maintain.

Hi Tilly
I sure did......I started on I think the Carb Add. Diet, is that the one with the reward meal? It worked until I got carried away with the reward meal. What worked the best for me then was Protein Power. My staple food was ceasar salad and lots of veggie soup ......but when I started back on pp this past October, my stomach wouldnt tolerate the lettuce. So I tried Atkins......remembering that my mom had done it back in the 70's and it worked for her. Atkins from what I remember about pp, is a little more liberal with the sugars etc. PP was very strict, but it worked for me. I lost over 100lbs Im not sure exactly....the scale didnt go high enough. I guess you could say Im doing a loose pp and atkins combined now. I will have a bit of sugar (in my miracle whip) or bacon, where as before, I wouldnt have touched it. I eat alot more fats on this diet than before, but Im trying to gradually wean myself off it. So far so good. I did however allow myself once in a while a treat and it was usually a kitkat bar, maybe once a month. But it was enough to keep me going, and I walked miles!! many many miles!! lol I knew were all the pee stops were along my route! lol I dont know if this helps you, but it certainly helps me get the cravings and sugar under control. Robin :) |
